عَنْهُم؛about them;كَمَاasتَكُونُit isأَرْضٌlandلِزَيْدٍfor Zaydوَأَرْضٌand landلِعُمَرَ؛for Omar;فَهَذِهِيso thisمَحْدُودَةٌlimitedمُنْفَصِلَةٌseparatedعَنْfromهَذِهِ،this,وَهَذِهِand thisمُنْفَصِلَةٌis separatedعَنْfromهَذِهِ؛this;فَهَذَاso thisحَقٌّis a rightلَيْسَthere is notفِيهِin itشَيْءٌsomethingمِنَofالنَّقْصِ.deficiency.
About them; as there is land for Zayd and land for Omar; so this is a limited separation from this, and this is separated from this; so this is a right that contains nothing deficient.
وَإِنْAnd ifأَرَدْتُمْyou meantبِكَوْنِهِby its beingمَحْدُودًاlimited:أَنْthatالْعَرْشَthe Throneمُحِيطٌis surroundingبِهِ؛it;فَهَذَاthis isبَاطِلٌ،false,وَلَيْسَand notبِلَازِمٍ؛necessary;فَإِنَّfor indeedاللَّهَAllahتَعَالَىthe Exaltedمَسْتَوٍis aboveعَلَىuponالْعَرْشِ،the Throne,وَإِنْand ifكَانَwasعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Mighty and Majesticأَكْبَرَgreaterمِنَthanالْعَرْشِthe Throneوَمِنْand fromغَيْرِother thanالْعَرْشِ،the Throne,وَلَاnorيَلْزَمُit is necessaryأَنْthatيَكُونَit isالْعَرْشُthe Throneمُحِيطًاsurroundingبِهِ؛it;بَلْratherلَاnotيُمْكِنُcanأَنْthatيَكُونَit isمُحِيطًاsurroundingبِهِ؛it;لَأَنَّbecauseاللَّهَAllahسُبْحَانَهُthe Glorifiedوَتَعَالَىand Exaltedأَعْظَمُis greaterمِنْthanكُلِّeverythingشَيْءٍthingوَأَكْبَرُand greaterمِنْthanكُلِّeverythingشَيْءٍ،thing,وَالْأَرْضَand the earthجَمِيعًاallقَبْضَتُهُin His graspيَوْمَon the Dayالْقِيَامَةِ،of Resurrection,وَالسَّمَاوَاتُand the heavensمَطْوِيَّةٌfoldedبِيَمِينِهِ.by His right hand.
And if what you meant by it being limited is that the Throne surrounds Him; then this is false, nor is it necessary; for Allah the Exalted is above the Throne, and if He is greater than the Throne and other than the Throne, it is not necessary for the Throne to be surrounding Him, rather it cannot be surrounding Him; because Allah the Glorified and Exalted is greater than everything and more significant than everything, and the earth is in His grasp on the Day of Resurrection, and the heavens are folded in His right hand.
وَأَمَّاAnd as for
And as for their statement: It is necessary that He be in need of the Throne.
فَنَقُولُWe sayلَاnoيَلْزَمُ؛it is necessary;لِأَنَّbecauseمَعْنَىthe meaning ofكَوْنِهِits beingمَسْتَوِيًاaboveعَلَىuponالْعَرْشِthe Throneأَنَّهُthat He isفَوْقَaboveالْعَرْشِ،the Throne,لَكِنَّهُbut itعُلُوٌّis a heightخَاصٌّspecialوَلَيْسَand it is notمَعْنَاهُmeaningأَنْthatالْعَرْشَthe Throneيَحْمِلَهُcarries Himأَبَدًا؛ever;فَالْعَرْشُFor the Throneلَاnotيَحْمِلُهُ،carries Him,وَالسَّمَاءُand the heavensلَاnotتَحْمِلُهُ،carry Him,وَهَذَاand thisاللَّازِمُnecessityالَّذِيthat whichادَّعَيْتُمُوهُyou claimedمُمْتَنِعٌ؛is impossible;لِأَنَّهُbecause itنَقْصٌis deficiencyبِالنِّسْبَةِin relationإِلَىtoاللَّهِAllahعَزَّ وَجَلَّ،the Mighty and Majestic,وَلَيْسَand is notبِلَازِمٍnecessaryمِنَofالِاسْتِوَاءِthe actual elevation;الْحَقِيقِيِّ؛the true;لِأَنَّنَاbecause we are notنَقُولُsayingإِنَّthat indeedمَعْنَىthe meaning of;اسْتَوَىHe rose aboveعَلَىuponالْعَرْشِ؛the Throne;يَعْنِيIt means:أَنْthatالْعَرْشَthe Throneيَحْمِلَهُcarries Himوَيَحْمِلُهُ؛and supports Him;فَالْعَرْشُFor the Throneمَحْمُولٌ :is carried:﴿[وَيَلُAnd they carryعَرْشَthe Throneرَبِّكَof your Lordفَوْقَهُمabove themيَوْمَئِذٍon that Dayتَخْزِينٌis a disgrace.)[الْحَاقَّةِ: ۱۷]،[Al-Haaqqa: 17],وَتَحْمِلُهَاand it carriesالْمَلَائِكَةُthe angelsالْآنَ،now,لَكِنَّهُbut itلَيْسَis notحَامِلًاcarryingلِلَّهِfor Allahعَزَّ وَجَلَّ؛the Mighty and Majestic;لِأَنَّbecauseاللَّهَAllahسُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَىthe Glorified and Exaltedلَيْسَis notمُحْتَاجًاin needإِلَيْهِ،to Him,وَلَاnorمُفْتَقِرًاis neededإِلَيْهِ،to Him,وَبِهَذَاAnd with thisتَبْطُلُtheir claims are invalidated.
And as for their claim: it is necessary that He be in need of the Throne. We say: it is not necessary; because the meaning of His being above the Throne: that He is above the Throne, but it is a special elevation and does not mean that the Throne carries Him; for the Throne does not carry Him, and the heavens do not carry Him, and this necessity they claimed is impossible; because it is a deficiency with respect to Allah the Mighty and Majestic, and it is not necessary from the real elevation; for we do not say: the meaning of 'He rose above the Throne'; means that the Throne carries Him; for the Throne is carried: 'And they carry the Throne of your Lord above them on that Day, is a disgrace,' [Al-Haaqqa: 17], and it carries Him now, but it does not carry Allah the Mighty and Majestic; because Allah the Glorified and Exalted is not in need of it, and is not dependent on it, and with this their negative arguments are invalidated.
وَخُلَاصَةٌAnd in conclusionرَدُّنَاour responseلِكَلَامِهِمto their wordsمِنْfromعِدَّةٍseveralأَوْجُهٍ :aspects:الأَوَّلُ :First:أَنْthatقَوْلَهُمْtheir statementهَذَاthisمُخَالِفٌis contraryلِظَّاهِرِto the apparentالنَّصِّ.text.
And in conclusion, our response to their words from several aspects: First: that their statement is contrary to the apparent text.
