They acknowledge any attribute of God and do not deny them, but rather they affirm them completely.

فَإِنْthen ifقُلْتَyou said::مَاwhatالْفَرْقُthe differenceبَيْنَbetweenالتَّعْطِيلِthe negationوَالْتَّحْرِيفِ؟and the distortion?

Then if you said: What is the difference between the negation and the distortion?

قُلْنَاwe said::التَّحْرِيفَthe distortionفِيinالدَّلِيلِ،the evidence,وَالتَّعْطِيلِand the negationفِيinالْمَدْلُولِ؛the signified;

We said: The distortion is in the evidence, and the negation is in the signified;

فَمَثَلًا:for example:إِذَاifقَالَsaidقَائِلٌ:a speaker:مَعْنَىthe meaningقَوْلِهِof his statementتَعَالَى:the Most High:﴿[بَلْButيَدَاهُHis handsمَبْسُوطَتَانِare outspread][المَائِدَةِ[Al-Ma'idah::٦٤]؛64];أَيٌّ:that is:بَلْbutقُوَّتَاهُ.their strength.

For example: If a speaker said: The meaning of His statement, the Most High: 'But His hands are outspread' [Al-Ma'idah: 64]; that is: but their strength.

هَذَاthisمُحَرَّفٌis distortedلِلْدَّلِيلِ،for the evidence,وَمُعَطَّلٌand negatedلِلْمُرَادِfor the intended meaning;لَأَنَّbecauseالْمُرَادَthe intendedالْيَدَhandالْحَقيقيةَ؛is the true;فَقَدْso heعَطَّلَnullifiedالْمَعْنَىthe meaningالْمُرَادَ،intended,وَأَثْبَتَand affirmedمَعْنًىthe meaningغَيْرَother thanالْمُرَادِthe intendedإِذَاifقَالَhe said::بَلْbutيَدَاهُHis handsمَبْسُوطَتَانِ؛are outspread;لَاI do notأَدْرِي!I know!الْأَمْرُthe matterإِلَىtoاللَّهِ،God,لَاnotأَثْبُتُI affirmالْيَدَ،the hand,الْحَقيقيةَ،the real,وَلَاand notالْيَدَthe handالْمُحَرَّفَةَthe distortedإِلَيْهَاto itاللَّفْظُ.text.

This is distorted for the evidence, and nullified for the intended meaning; because the intended meaning is the true hand; he has nullified the intended meaning and asserted a meaning other than the intended. If he said: But His hands are outspread; I do not know! The matter is to God, I do not affirm the real hand, nor the distorted hand from the text.

نَقُولُwe say::هَذَاthisمُعَطَّلٌ،is nullified,وَلَيْسَand notبِمُحَرَّفٍ؛is distorted;لِأَنَّهُbecause itلَمْdid notيُغَيِّرْchangeمَعْنَىthe meaningاللَّفْظِ،of the text,وَلَمْand did notيُفَسِّرْهُinterpret itبِغَيْرِwith other thanمُرَادِهِhis intended meaning;

We say: This is nullified, and not distorted; because it did not change the meaning of the text, nor did it interpret it with other than his intended meaning;

لَكِنِّيbut Iعَطَّلْتُnullifyمَعْنَاهُits meaningالَّذِيthat whichيُرَادُis intendedبِهِ،with it,وَهُوَand it isإِثْبَاتٌestablishingالْيَدَthe handلِلَّهِto Godعَزَّ وَجَلَّ.the Mighty and Majestic.

But I nullify its meaning that is intended with it, and it is establishing the hand to God, the Mighty and Majestic.

أَفَوِّضُI delegate

I delegate.

أَهْلُPeople ofالسُّنَّةِthe Sunnahوَالجَمَاعَةِand the Communityيَتَبَرَّؤُونَdisassociate themselvesمِنْfromالطَّرِيقَتَيْنِ،the two ways:الطَّرِيقَةُthe wayالأُولَى:the first:الَّتِيwhichهِيَisتَحْرِيفٌdistortionاللَّفْظُthe textبِتَعْطِيلٍby negatingمَعْنَاهُits meaningالْحَقيقِيِّthe trueالْمُرَادِintendedإِلَىtoمَعْنًىmeaningغَيْرَother thanمُرَادٍintendedوَالطَّرِيقَةُand the wayالثَّانِيَةُ:the second:وَهِيَand it isطَرِيقَةُthe wayأَهْلُthe people ofالتَّفْوِيضِ؛the delegation;فَهُمْtheyلَاdo notيُفَوِّضُونَdelegateالمَعْنَىthe meaningكَمَاasيَقُولُهُsaid byالمُفَوِّضَةِ،the delegation,بَلْbutيَقُولُونَ:they say:نَحْنُweنَقُولُ:say:بَلْbutيَدَاهُ؛His hands;أَيٌّ:that is:يَدَاهُHis handsالْحَقيقِيَّتَانِthe trueمَبْسُوطَتَانِ،are outspread,وَهُمَاand they areغَيْرُother thanالْقُوَّةَthe strengthوَالنِّعْمَةِ.and the grace.

The people of the Sunnah and the Community disassociate themselves from the two ways: the first way, which is the distortion of the text by negating its real intended meaning to an unintended meaning; and the second way: and it is the way of the people of delegation; they do not delegate the meaning as said by the delegators, but rather they say: We say: But His hands; that is: His true hands are outspread, and they are other than strength and grace.

فَعَقِيدَةُThus the beliefأَهْلِof the people ofالسُّنَّةِthe Sunnahوَالْجَمَاعَةِand the Communityبَرِيئَةٌis freeمِنْfromالتَّحْرِيفِdistortionوَمِنَand fromالتَّعْطِيلِ.the negation.

Thus the belief of the people of the Sunnah and the Community is free from distortion and negation.

وَبِهَذَاAnd with thisنَعْرِفُwe knowضَلَالَةًthe misguidanceأَوْكَذِبًor falsehoodمِنْfromقَالُواthey saidإِنَّthatطَرِيقَةَthe wayالسَّلَفِof the predecessorsهِيَisالتَّفْوِيضُ؛the delegation;هَؤُلَاءِtheseضَلُّواthey have gone astrayإِنْifقَالُواthey saidذَاكَthatعَنْaboutجَهْلٍignoranceبِطَرِيقَةِof the wayالسَّلَفِ،of the predecessors,

And with this we know the misguidance or falsehood of those who said that the way of the predecessors is the delegation; these have gone astray if they said this out of ignorance of the way of the predecessors.
