حَيْثُwherebyيُثْبِتُis provenبِهَاthrough itتَوْحِيدُthe Onenessالرُّبُوبِيَّةِof Lordshipفَقَطْonly.
whereby only the Oneness of Lordship is proven through it.
٤4ـ-وَقِيلَAnd it is saidمَعْنَاهَاits meaningلَاnoحَاكِمِيَّةَsovereigntyإِلَّاexceptلِلَّهِfor Allah.
4 - And it is said that its meaning is: no sovereignty except for Allah.
وَهَذَاAnd thisأَيْضًاalsoجُزْءٌis a partمِنْofمَعْنَاهَاits meaningوَلَيْسَand it is notهُوَitالْمَقْصُودَthe intended meaning.
And this also is a part of its meaning and it is not the intended meaning.
لِأَنَّهُBecauseبِهَذَاwith thisالْمَعْنَىmeaningتَفْسِيرٌit is an interpretationنَاقِصٌincompleteلَاthat is notيَكْفِيsufficient.
Because with this meaning it is an incomplete interpretation that is not sufficient.
٥5ـ-وَمِنْهَاAnd among themأَنَّهُis thatلَاno one isقَادِرٌcapableعَلَىofالْإِخْتِرَاعِoriginationإِلَّاexceptاللَّهُAllah,
5 - And among them is that no one is capable of origination except Allah,
وَلَاand no one isمُسْتَغْنٍself-sufficientعَمَّاfrom whatسِوَاهُis other than Himمُفْتَقِرٌwhile needyإِلَيْهِto Himكُلُّis everyمَنْoneعَدَاهُother than HimإِلَّاexceptاللَّهُAllah.
and no one is self-sufficient from what is other than Him while everyone other than Him is needy of Him except Allah.
وَهَذَاAnd thisالْقَوْلُstatementمَنْسُوبٌis attributedلِبَعْضِto someأَئِمَّةِimamsالْمُتَكَلِّمِينَof the theologians.
And this statement is attributed to some imams of the theologians.
قَالَSaidشَيْخُSheikhالْإِسْلَامِIslamعَمَّنْabout whoeverقَالَsaid:إِنَّ"Indeed,الْإِلَهِيَّةَdivinityهِيَisالْقُدْرَةُthe abilityعَلَىtoالْإِخْتِرَاعِoriginate,
Sheikh Islam said about whoever said: "Indeed, divinity is the ability to originate,
فَإِنَّforالْمُشْرِكِينَthe polytheistsكَانُواwereيُقِرُّونَacknowledgingبِهَذَاthisوَهُمْwhile theyمُشْرِكُونَwere polytheists."١(1)
for the polytheists were acknowledging this while they were polytheists." (1)
وَهَذَاAnd thisتَفْسِيرٌis an interpretationلِكَلِمَةِof the wordالتَّوْحِيدِof monotheismبِشَيْءٍwith somethingمِنْfromأَفْعَالِactsالرُّبُوبِيَّةِof Lordship,
And this is an interpretation of the word of monotheism with something from the acts of Lordship,
وَهُوَand itوَإِنْeven ifدَلَّتْit indicatesعَلَيْهِitكَلِمَةُthe wordالتَّوْحِيدِof monotheismبِالتَّضَمُّنِby implication,
and even if the word of monotheism indicates it by implication,
فَتَوْحِيدُthen the onenessالْأُلُوهِيَّةِof divinityيَتَضَمَّنُincludesتَوْحِيدَthe onenessالرُّبُوبِيَّةِof Lordship,
then the oneness of divinity includes the oneness of Lordship,
إِلَّاexceptأَنَّهُthat itأَغْفَلَhas overlookedالْمَعْنَىthe meaningالْمَقْصُودَintendedمِنْfromهَذِهِthisالْكَلِمَةِword,
except that it has overlooked the meaning intended from this word,
وَهُوَwhich isإِثْبَاتُprovingتَوْحِيدِthe onenessالْأُلُوهِيَّةِof divinityوَأَنَّهُand thatلَاno oneيَسْتَحِقُّdeservesالْعِبَادَةَworshipإِلَّاexceptاللَّهُAllah.
which is proving the oneness of divinity and that no one deserves worship except Allah.
وَإِنَّمَاRather,مَعْنَىthe meaningهَذِهِof thisالْكَلِمَةِwordبِاتِّفَاقِby consensusالسَّلَفِof the Pious Predecessorsالصَّالِحِthe righteous:
Rather, the meaning of this word by consensus of the righteous Pious Predecessors is:
أَنَّهُthatلَاno oneمَعْبُودَis worshippedبِحَقٍّin truthإِلَّاexceptاللَّهُAllahوَحْدَهُalone,لَاnoشَرِيكَpartnerلَهُfor Him,
that no one is worshipped in truth except Allah alone, with no partner for Him,
كَمَاasقَالَsaidتَعَالَىthe Most High:وَمَا{And Weأَرْسَلْنَاdid not sendمِنْbeforeقَبْلِكَyouمِنْanyرَسُولٍmessengerإِلَّاexceptنُوحِيthat We revealإِلَيْهِto himأَنَّهُthatلَاthere is noإِلَهَgodإِلَّاexceptأَنَاMe,فَاعْبُدُونِso worship Me.}الْأَنْبِيَاءِ[The Prophets:٢٥25].
as the Most High said: {And We did not send before you any messenger except that We reveal to him that there is no god except Me, so worship Me.} [The Prophets: 25].
قَالَSaidالْبَقَاعِيُّAl-Baqaa'i:لَا"There is noإِلَهَgodإِلَّاexceptاللَّهُAllah,أَيْmeaning:انْتَفَىit is negatedانْتِفَاءًa negationعَظِيمًاgreatly
Al-Baqaa'i said: "There is no god except Allah, meaning: it is negated a great negation
أَنْthatيَكُونَthere isمَعْبُودٌa worshipped oneبِحَقٍّin truthغَيْرُother thanالْمَلِكِthe Kingالْأَعْظَمِthe Most Great.
that there is a worshipped one in truth other than the King the Most Great.
فَإِنَّForهَذَاthisالْعِلْمَknowledgeهُوَisأَعْظَمُthe greatestالذِّكْرَىremembranceالْمُنْجِيَةِthat savesمِنْfromأَهْوَالِthe horrorsالسَّاعَةِof the Hour.
For this knowledge is the greatest remembrance that saves from the horrors of the Hour.
وَإِنَّمَاAnd it onlyيَكُونُbecomesعِلْمًاknowledgeإِذَاifكَانَit isنَافِعًاbeneficial.
And it only becomes knowledge if it is beneficial.
وَإِنَّمَاAnd it onlyيَكُونُbecomesنَافِعًاbeneficialإِذَاifكَانَthere isالْإِذْعَانُsubmissionوَالْعَمَلُand actionبِمَاwith whatتَقْتَضِيهِit necessitates,
And it only becomes beneficial if there is submission and action with what it necessitates,
وَإِلَّاotherwiseفَهُوَit isجَهْلٌignoranceصِرْفٌpure."٢(2)
otherwise it is pure ignorance." (2)
