وَأَنْهَارٍand rivers

الْفَكِهَةِpleasantاللَّطِيفَةِgentle
pleasant and gentle
وَلِقَاءَاتِهِمُand their meetingsالطَّيِّبَةِgoodالْحَبِيبَةِ،beloved,
and their good and beloved meetings,
كُلُّallهَذَاthis
all of this
مِمَّاis from whatقَدْindeedقَصَّهُnarrated itالْقُرْآنُthe QuranالْكَرِيمُNoble
is from what the Noble Quran has narrated
وَبَثَّهُand broadcasted itفِيinمُخْتَلَفِvariousالسُّوَرِsurahs
and broadcasted it in various surahs
مُرَاعِياًobservingأَسَالِيبَهَاits methodsالْخَاصَّةَspecialالْمُتَفَرِّدَةَunique
observing its special and unique methods
تَارَةًsometimesبِالْإِجْمَالِwith summarizationوَالِاخْتِصَارِand brevity
sometimes with summarization and brevity
وَأُخْرَىand anotherبِالتَّفْصِيلِwith detailوَالْإِسْهَابِ.and elaboration.
and another with detail and elaboration.
الْقَاعِدَةُThe ruleالْكُلِّيَّةُuniversalفِيinمَبْحَثِthe subjectالْأَحْكَامِ:of rulings:
The universal rule in the subject of rulings:
وَالْقَاعِدَةُAnd the ruleالْكُلِّيَّةُuniversalفِيinمَبْحَثِthe subjectالْأَحْكَامِof rulings
And the universal rule in the subject of rulings
وَالْحَلَالِand the lawfulوَالْحَرَامِand the unlawful
and the lawful and unlawful
أَنَّis thatسَيِّدَنَاour masterرَسُولَMessengerاللَّهِof Allah
is that our master the Messenger of Allah
- صَلَّى- may Allah blessاللَّهُHimعَلَيْهِupon himوَسَلَّمَ -and grant him peace -

كَانَwasقَدْindeedبُعِثَsentفِيinالْمِلَّةِthe religionالْإِبْرَاهِيمِيَّةِof Ibrahimالْحَنِيفِيَّةِ،the upright,
was sent within the upright religion of Ibrahim,
فَكَانَso it wasمِنَfromاللَّازِمِthe necessary
so it was necessary
أَنْthatيَبْقَىhe remainsعَلَىuponشَرَائِعِlawsتِلْكَof thatالْمِلَّةِ،religion,
to remain upon the laws of that religion,
وَلَاand notيُحْدِثَhe bringsأَيَّanyتَغْيِيرٍchangeفِيinأُمَّهَاتِfoundationalأَحْكَامِهَاrulingsوَأُصُولِand rootsمَسَائِلِهَاof its issues
and not bring any change in its foundational rulings and the roots of its issues
اللَّهُمَّO Allahإِلَّاexceptتَخْصِيصاًas a specificationلِعُمُومَاتِهَاfor its generalities
O Allah, except as a specification for its generalities
وَزِيَادَةًand an additionلِلتَّوْقِيتَاتِto the timingsوَالتَّجْدِيدَاتِand renewalsفِيهَاin it
and an addition to the timings and renewals in it
وَأَمْثَالَand examplesذَلِكَof thatمِنَfromالْأُمُورِ.the matters.
and examples of that from the matters.
ثُمَّThenإِنَّهُindeedأَرَادَwilledاللَّهُAllah- تَعَالَى -- Exalted is He -
Then Allah - Exalted is He - willed
أَنْtoيُزَكِّيَpurifyنُفُوسَthe soulsالْعَرَبِof the Arabs
to purify the souls of the Arabs
بِنَبِيِّنَاthrough our ProphetمُحَمَّدٍMuhammad- صَلَّى- may blessاللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِupon himوَسَلَّمَ -and grant him peace -
through our Prophet Muhammad - may Allah bless him and grant him peace -
وَيُزَكِّيَand purifyنُفُوسَthe soulsسَائِرِof the restالْعَالَمِof the world
and purify the souls of the rest of the world
بِأَيْدِيby the handsالْعَرَبِof the Arabsالْأَوَّلِينَthe first
by the hands of the first Arabs
(وَالرَّعِيلِ(and the vanguardالْإِيمَانِيِّof faithالْأَوَّلِ)the first)
(and the first vanguard of faith)
فَلَزِمَso it became necessaryأَنْthatتَكُونَbeمَادَّةُthe matterشَرِيعَتِهِof His legislation
so it became necessary that the matter of His legislation
تَدُورُrevolveعَلَىaroundعَادَاتِcustomsالْعَرَبِof the Arabsوَتَقَالِيدِهِمْand their traditions
revolve around the customs and traditions of the Arabs
(مِمَّا(from whatتَوَارَثُوهَاthey inherited itمِنَfromالْمِلَّةِthe religionالْحَنِيفِيَّةِof the upright
(from what they inherited from the upright religion
أَوْorانْحَرَفُواthey deviatedعَنْfromجَادَتِهَاits path
or deviated from its path
فِيinكَثِيرٍmanyمِنْofشُئُونِaffairsالْحَيَاةِ).of life).

الْأَسْبَابُThe reasonsوَالْمَصَالِحُand interestsالْمَرْعِيَّةُguardedفِيinالْأَحْكَامِ:the rulings:
The reasons and guarded interests in the rulings:
وَإِذْAnd whenتَأَمَّلْتَyou contemplatedوَأَنْعَمْتَand bestowedالنَّظَرَthe look
And when you contemplated and looked closely
فِيinمَجْمُوعِthe totalityشَرَائِعِof lawsالْمِلَّةِof the religionالْحَنِيفَةِof the Hanif
in the totality of the laws of the Hanif religion
