فِيInمَبْحَثِthe study ofالنَّاسِخِthe abrogatingوَالْمَنْسُوخِand the abrogated
In the study of the abrogating and the abrogated
مِنَAmongالْمَوَاضِعِthe placesالصَّعْبَةِdifficultفِيinعِلْمِthe science ofالتَّفْسِيرِexegesis
Among the difficult places in the science of exegesis
الَّتِيwhichتَكْثُرُaboundمَبَاحِثُهَا،its discussions,
which have abundant discussions,
وَيَكْثُرُand aboundsالاخْتِلَافُthe disagreementفِيهَا،in it,
and in which disagreement abounds,
مَعْرِفَةُis knowingالنَّاسِخِthe abrogatingوَالْمَنْسُوخِ،and the abrogated,
is knowing the abrogating and the abrogated,
وَمِنْand fromأَقْوَىstrongestوُجُوهِaspectsهَذِهِof thisالصُّعُوبَةِdifficulty
and from the strongest aspects of this difficulty
اخْتِلَافُis the differenceالاصْطِلَاحِin terminologyبَيْنَbetweenالْمُتَقَدِّمِينَthe predecessorsوَالْمُتَأَخِّرِينَand the successorsفِيinهَذَاthisالْبَابِ.chapter.

مَعْنَىThe meaningالنَّسْخِof abrogationعِنْدَaccording toالْمُتَقَدِّمِينَ:the predecessors:
The meaning of abrogation according to the predecessors:
وَالَّذِيAnd that whichيَتَضَحُbecomes clearلَنَاto usبِاسْتِقْرَاءِby examiningكَلَامِthe speechالصَّحَابَةِof the Companionsوَالتَّابِعِينَand the Successors
And that which becomes clear to us by examining the speech of the Companions and the Successors
- رَضِيَ- mayاللَّهُGodعَنْهُمْbe pleased with themأَجْمَعِينَ -all together -
- may God be pleased with them all -
فِيinهَذَاthisالْمَوْضُوعِtopic

which is the removal of a thing, not in the meaning of the special terminology of the legal theorists.
- So the meaning of "abrogation" according to them is the removal of some attributes in a verse by another verse,
whether that was an explanation of the end of the period of action by one of the noble verses
- or turning the speech from the apparent meaning to other than the apparent, or an explanation
