أَئِمَّةُImamsالتَّفْسِيرِof exegesis.
Imams of exegesis.
وَيَلِيهِAnd follows itذَلِكَthatالشَّرْحُexplanationلِلْغَرِيبِfor the obscure wordsالَّذِيwhichرُوِيَwas narratedعَنْfromسَائِرِallالصَّحَابَةِthe companionsوَالتَّابِعِينَand the successorsوَأَتْبَاعِهِمْand their followers.
And that is followed by the explanation of the obscure words narrated from all the companions, successors, and their followers.
وَأَرَىAnd I seeمِنَfromالْمُنَاسِبِthe appropriateأَنْthatأَجْمَعَI gatherفِيinالْبَابِthe chapterالْخَامِسِfifthمِنْofهَذِهِthisالرِّسَالَةِtreatiseجُمْلَةًa portionصَالِحَةًgoodمِنْofشَرْحِexplanationغَرِيبِof the obscure wordsالْقُرْآنِof the Quranالْكَرِيمِthe Nobleمَعَalong withبَيَانِclarificationأَسْبَابِof the reasonsالنُّزُولِfor revelation,
And I see it appropriate to gather in the fifth chapter of this treatise a good portion of the explanation of the obscure words of the Noble Quran along with the clarification of the reasons for revelation,
وَأَجْعَلَهَاand I make itرِسَالَةًa treatiseمُفْرَدَةًstandaloneمُسْتَقِلَّةًindependentحَتَّىso thatإِذَاifشَاءَwillsأَحَدٌsomeone,ضَمَّهَاhe attaches itإِلَىtoهَذِهِthisالرِّسَالَةِtreatise,
and I make it a standalone, independent treatise so that if someone wishes, he can attach it to this treatise,
وَإِذَاand ifأَحَبَّlikesآخَرُanotherأَنْthatيَأْخُذَهَاhe takes itكَرِسَالَةٍas a treatiseمُسْتَقِلَّةٍindependentفَلْيَفْعَلْthen let him doذَلِكَthat,وَلِلنَّاسِand for peopleفِيمَاin whatيَعْشَقُونَthey loveمَذَاهِبُare paths.
and if another likes to take it as an independent treatise, let him do so, and people have various paths in what they love.
وَلْيُعْلَمْAnd let it be knownأَنَّthatالصَّحَابَةَthe companionsوَالتَّابِعِينَand the successorsرَضِيَmay Allah be pleasedاللَّهُwith Allahعَنْهُمْwith themأَجْمَعِينَallيُفَسِّرُونَinterpretأَحْيَاناًsometimesبِلَازِمِby the necessary implicationمَعْنَاهُof its meaning,
And let it be known that the companions and successors - may Allah be pleased with them all - sometimes interpret by the necessary implication of its meaning,
وَيَتَعَقَّبُand tracksالْمُفَسِّرُونَthe exegetesالْمُتَأَخِّرُونَlaterهَذَاthisالتَّفْسِيرَinterpretationنَظَراًin viewإِلَىofتَتَبُّعِtracingاللُّغَةِthe languageوَالْفَحْصِand examiningعَنْofمَوَارِدِsourcesاسْتِعْمَالِهَاof its usageفِيهَاin it.
and later exegetes track this interpretation with a view to tracing the language and examining the sources of its usage therein.
وَالْغَرَضُAnd the purposeالْمَطْلُوبُdesiredفِيinهَذِهِthisالرِّسَالَةِtreatiseذِكْرُis the mention ofتَفْسِيرَاتِinterpretationsالسَّلَفِof the predecessorsوَشُرُوحِهِمْand their explanationsلِلْأَلْفَاظِfor the wordsالْغَرِيبَةِobscureبِنَصِّهَاwith its exact textوَفَصِّهَاand wording.
And the desired purpose in this treatise is to mention the interpretations of the predecessors and their explanations of obscure words with their exact text and wording.
أَمَّاAs forتَنْقِيحُهَاrefining itوَنَقْدُهَاand critiquing itفَلَهُthen for itمَوْضِعٌis a placeآخَرُotherغَيْرُthanهَذَاthisالْمَوْضِعِplace.
As for refining and critiquing it, that has another place other than this place.
فَكُلُّFor everyمَقَامٍcontextمَقَالٌhas its statementوَلِكُلِّand for everyنُكْتَةٍsubtletyمَجَالٌis a field.
For every context has its statement and every subtlety has its field.
