وَإِذَاAnd ifكَانَthe subjectالْمَوْضُوعُwasيُنَاسِبُهُsuitable for itأَكْثَرُmoreمِنْthanعُنْوَانٍone title،,
And if a subject is suitable for more than one title,
فَإِنِّيthen indeed Iأَضَعُplaceجَمِيعَallالْعَنَاوِينِthe titlesالْمُنَاسِبَةَsuitable،,
then I place all the suitable titles,
وَيَكُونُand isمَحَلُّthe placeالْبَحْثِof researchتَحْتَunderعُنْوَانٍa titleوَاحِدٍone،,
and the place of research is under one title,
وَمِثَالُand an exampleذَلِكَof thatبَابُis the chapter«"لَاNoإِلَهَdeityإِلَّاexceptاللَّهُ»Allah"،,
and an example of that is the chapter of "There is no deity except Allah",
فَإِنَّfor indeedلَهُit hasعَنَاوِينُtitlesأُخْرَىotherمِثْلُlike("كَلِمَةُThe Wordالتَّوْحِيدِ)of Monotheism)("كَلِمَةُThe Wordالْإِخْلَاصِ)of Sincerity)("الْعُرْوَةُThe Firmالْوُثْقَى)Handhold)وَمَاand whatشَابَهَresemblesذَلِكَthat،,
for it has other titles like (The Word of Monotheism) (The Word of Sincerity) (The Firm Handhold) and what resembles that,
فَأَكْتُبُso I writeهَذِهِtheseالْعَنَاوِينِtitlesفِيinمَكَانِهَاtheir placeمِنَfromالْمُعْجَمِthe lexiconمُفْرَدَةًindividuallyدُونَwithoutبَحْثٍresearch،,
so I write these titles in their place in the lexicon individually without research,
وَأُحِيلُand I referعَلَىtoالْأَصْلِthe originalالَّذِيwhichاخْتَرْتُهُI choseلِوُجُودِfor the presence ofالْمَبَاحِثِdiscussionsفِيهِin it،,
and I refer to the original which I chose for the presence of discussions in it,
وَأَذْكُرُand I mentionفِيinالسَّطْرِthe lineالَّذِيwhichيَلِيfollowsعُنْوَانَthe titleالْبَابِof the chapterالْأَبْوَابَthe chaptersذَاتَhavingالصِّلَةِthe connection.
and I mention in the line following the chapter title the related chapters.
وَاعْلَمْAnd know-ـ"رَحِمَكَmay have mercy on youاللَّهُAllah-ـ"أَنَّthatهُنَاكَthere areأَبْوَابًاchaptersتَكَادُalmostتَكُونُbeingمُتَّصِلَةًconnectedمَعَwithبَعْضِهَاeach otherصِلَةًwith a connectionوَثِيقَةًstrong،,
And know - may Allah have mercy on you - that there are chapters that are almost strongly connected to each other,
فَاجْعَلْso makeلِكُلِّfor eachمِنْهَاof themبَابًاa chapterمُسْتَقِلًّاindependent،,
so make for each of them an independent chapter,
أُوَضِّحُin which I clarifyفِيهِin itالْمَعْنَىthe meaningوَأُحِيلُand I referفِيinالْمَسَائِلِthe issuesعَلَىtoالْبَابِthe chapterالْأَصْلِoriginalالْمُخْتَارِchosen،,
in which I clarify the meaning and refer regarding the issues to the original chosen chapter,
وَمِثَالُand an exampleذَلِكَof that("الْحُجُبُ)The Veils)("الْحُرُوزُ)The Amulets)("الرُّقَى)The Incantations)("التَّمَائِمُ)The Talismans)،,
and an example of that is (The Veils), (The Amulets), (The Incantations), (The Talismans).
فَإِنِّيfor indeed Iأُفَسِّرُexplainمَعَانِيَهَاtheir meaningsوَأَذْكُرُand mentionمَاwhatيَتَعَلَّقُrelatesبِهَاto themبِشَيْءٍwith someمِنَofالِاخْتِصَارِbrevity،,
For I explain their meanings and mention what relates to them with some brevity,
ثُمَّthenأُحِيلُI referفِيinالْمَسَائِلِthe issuesوَالْأَدِلَّةِand the proofsعَلَىtoالْبَابِthe chapterالْأَصْلِoriginal،,
then I refer in the issues and proofs to the original chapter.
وَحِينًاAnd sometimesأَجْعَلُهَاI make themكُلَّهَاallفِيinبَابٍchapterوَاحِدٍoneلِشِدَّةِdue to the intensity ofتَرَابُطِهَاtheir interconnectednessمَعَwithبَعْضِهَاeach other،,
And sometimes I put them all in one chapter due to the intensity of their interconnectedness with each other,
وَأَجْعَلُand I makeلِأَفْرَادِهَاfor their individual partsعَنَاوِينَtitlesخَالِيَةًdevoidمِنَofالْبُحُوثِresearchوَأُحِيلُand I referعَلَىtoالْأَصْلِthe original،,
and I make for their individual parts titles devoid of research and refer to the original,
وَمِثَالُهُand its exampleشُرُوطُare the conditions of«"لَاNoإِلَهَdeityإِلَّاexceptاللَّهُ»Allah"..
and an example of that is the conditions of "There is no deity except Allah".
وَقَدْAnd indeedحَاوَلْتُI have triedجَاهِدًاhardأَنْtoأَسْتَقْصِيَexhaustجَمِيعَallالْمَبَاحِثِthe discussions،,
And I have tried hard to exhaust all the discussions,
وَأَنْand toأَضَعَplaceلِكُلِّfor everyمَسْأَلَةٍissueتَفَاصِيلَthe detailsالْعُلَمَاءِof the scholarsوَأَقْوَالَهُمْand their sayingsفِيهَاconcerning it،,
and to place for every issue the details of the scholars and their sayings concerning it,
وَلَاand I do notأَدَّعِيclaimأَنَّنِيthat Iبَلَغْتُreachedالْغَايَةَthe goalأَوْorقَارَبْتُهَاapproached it،,
and I do not claim that I reached the goal or approached it,
لَكِنْratherجَهْدُit is the effortمُقِلٍّof one of limited meansأَرْجُوby which I hopeبِهِthrough itمِنَfromاللَّهِAllahالرِّضَىsatisfactionوَالْقَبُولَand acceptanceوَالتَّوْفِيقَand success،,
rather it is the effort of one of limited means, through which I hope from Allah satisfaction, acceptance, and success,
إِنَّهُindeed Heوَلِيُّis the protectorذَلِكَof thatوَالْقَادِرُand the capableعَلَيْهِover it.
indeed He is the protector of that and the capable over it.
وَلَقَدْAnd indeedسَاهَمَcontributedفِيinإِخْرَاجِproducingهَذَاthisالْكِتَابِbookوَمُرَاجَعَتِهِand reviewing itإِخْوَةٌbrothersوَأَخَوَاتٌand sisters،,
And indeed brothers and sisters have contributed to producing this book and reviewing it,
لَوْلَاhad it not been forمَعْرِفَتِيmy knowledge ofلِكَرَاهِيَتِهِمْtheir dislike forذِكْرَmentioningأَسْمَائِهِمْtheir namesلَذَكَرْتُهُمْI would have mentioned themوَاحِدًاoneوَاحِدًاby one،,
had it not been for my knowledge of their dislike for mentioning their names, I would have mentioned them one by one.
فَمَاso did notكَانَhappenهَذَاthisالْكِتَابُbookلِيَخْرُجَto come outإِلَّاexceptبِفَضْلٍby graceمِنَfromاللَّهِAllahثُمَّthenبِفَضْلِهِمْby their grace..
So this book would not have come out except by the grace of Allah, then by their grace.
وَإِنْAnd ifكُنَّاweلَاdo notنَمْلِكُpossessذِكْرَmentioningأَسْمَائِهِمْtheir names،,
And if we are unable to mention their names,
فَإِنَّاthen indeed weنَدْعُوprayلَهُمْfor them:,
then indeed we pray for them:
أَنْthatيُيَسِّرَهُمْHe facilitates for themلِلْيُسْرَىthe easy wayوَيُجَنِّبَهُمْand keeps them away fromالْعُسْرَىhardship،,
that He facilitates the easy way for them and keeps them away from hardship,
وَأَنْand thatيَزِيدَهُمْHe increases themهُدًىin guidance،,
and that He increases them in guidance,
وَيَجْعَلَand makesلَهُمْfor themمِنْfromكُلِّeveryهَمٍّworryفَرَجًاrelief،,
and makes for them relief from every worry,
وَمِنْand fromكُلِّeveryضِيقٍstraitمَخْرَجًاan exit،,
and an exit from every strait,
وَيَجْزِيَهُمْand rewards themعَنَّاon our behalfخَيْرَwith the bestالْجَزَاءِreward.
and rewards them on our behalf with the best reward.
وَأُذَكِّرُAnd I remindإِخْوَانِيmy brothersمِمَّنْwhoيَقْرَأُreadsهَذَاthisالْكِتَابَbookأَوْorيَطَّلِعُlooksعَلَيْهِinto it،,
And I remind my brothers who read this book or look into it,
أَنْthatيَأْخُذَhe should takeبِمَاwhatاحْتَوَاهُcontainedالْكِتَابُthe book،,
to take what the book contained,
وَلْيَكُنْand letرَائِدُهُhis guideفِيinذَلِكَthatالْبَحْثَbe the searchعَنِforالْحَقِّthe truthوَاتِّبَاعَand followingالدَّلِيلِthe proof،,
and let his guide in that be the search for the truth and following the proof.
فَإِنْFor ifعَثَرَhe findsعَلَىuponخَطَأٍan errorمِنِّيfrom me
For if he finds an error from me,
