For the author only mentioned it under the title "The Disease and the Cure", and that it is mentioned in the manuscripts of the book, especially those close to the time of the author = All that reinforces this title over others.
هَذَاThis,,وَفِيand inمَكْتَبَةِthe libraryالْأَوْقَافِof the Endowmentsبِبَغْدَادَin Baghdadنُسْخَةًa copyمِنْofالْكِتَابِthe book,,تَارِيخُthe dateنَسْخِهَاof its copyingسَنَةَin the year۱۱۰۰1100هـAH,,وَكَانَand it wasمَكْتُوبًاwrittenفِيinصَفْحَةٍa pageعُنْوَانُهَاits title::«هَذَا"Thisكِتَابٌis a bookدَوَاءٌof medicineالدَّاءِthe disease",,فَكَتَبَthen some wroteبَعْضُهُمْsome of themفَوْقَهُabove itبِخَطٍّin a different handwritingمُخْتَلِفٍdifferent::«هَذَا"Thisدَوَاءٌis the medicineالْقُلُوبِof the hearts",,ثُمَّthenضَرَبَanother person hitشَخْصٌa personآخَرُanotherعَلَىonالْعِبَارَةِthe previous phraseالسَّابِقَةِوَكَتَبَand wroteبِجَانِبِهَاnext to it::دَوَاءٌthe medicineالْقُلُوبِof the hearts"،, وَقَيَّدَand it was recordedالْكِتَابَthe bookفِيinالْمَكْتَبَةِthe libraryبِهَذَاunder thisالْعُنْوَانِtitleفِيinفَنِّthe art ofالتَّصَوُّفِ, وَهَكَذَاand thusسَمَّاهُit was namedالْأُسْتَاذُProfessorعَبْدُاللَّهِAbdullahالْجُبُورِيُّAl-Jubouriفِيinفَهْرَسٍthe indexمَكْتَبَةِof the libraryالْأَوْقَافِof the Endowments(١)(1)
This, and in the library of the Endowments in Baghdad, there is a copy of the book, dated in the year 1100 AH, which was written on a page, its title: "This is a book of the medicine of the disease," then some wrote above it in a different handwriting: "This is the medicine of the hearts," then another person struck the previous phrase and wrote next to it: "the medicine of the hearts," and the book was recorded in the library under this title in the art of Sufism, and thus it was named by Professor Abdullah Al-Jubouri in the index of the Endowment library (1).
وَظَاهِرٌAnd it appearsأَنَّthatالْوَرَقَةَthe leafالْأُولَىٰthe firstالَّتِيthatكَانَتْwas in itعُنْوَانُthe titleالْكِتَابِof the bookوَاسْمُand the nameالْمُؤَلِّفِof the authorقَدْhasضَاعَتْbeen lostمِنَfromالْأَصْلِthe original،, فَتَتَبَّعَso some tracedبَعْضٌsomeمِنَofقَرَأَthe readersالنُّسْخَةَthe copyعِبَارَاتِphrasesالْمُصَنِّفِof the authorالَّتِيthatسُقْنَاهَاwe have citedآخِرًاearlierكَقَوْلِهِas his saying:: فَلْنَرْجِعْ"Let us returnإِلَىtoمَاwhatكُنَّاwe wereفِيهِinمِنْofذِكْرٍmentioning(دَوَاءُ(the medicineالدَّاءِ)of the disease)"،, فَكَتَبَso he wrote::هَذَا"Thisكِتَابٌis a bookدَوَاءٌof the medicineالدَّاءِthe disease.",, وَكَانَand he wasالرَّجُلُthe manمُحِيصًاcorrectفِيinاِسْتِنْبَاطِهِhis deduction،, غَيْرَnotبَعِيدٍfarعَنْfromالْعُنْوَانِthe titleالصَّحِيحِthe correct.
And it appears that the first leaf that contained the title of the book and the name of the author has been lost from the original, so some who read the copy traced the phrases of the author that we mentioned earlier, as his saying: "Let us return to what we were mentioning (the medicine of the disease)," so he wrote: "This is a book of the medicine of the disease," and the man was correct in his deduction, not far from the correct title.
وَلَمَّاAnd whenرَأَىhe sawبَعْضُهُمْsome of themأَنَّthatهَذَاthisالْعُنْوَانَtitleيُوهِمُmisleadsأَنَّthatالْكِتَابَthe bookفِيis inطِبِّthe medicineالأَبْدَانِof bodiesنَبَّهَhe alertedعَلَىtoمَوْضُوعِهِits subjectبِقَوْلِهِby saying:: «إِنَّ"Indeedهَذَاthisدَوَاءٌis the medicineالْقُلُوبِof the hearts"،,وَذَلِكَand thatأَيْضًاalsoوَاقِعٌis presentفِيinحَاقِّthe coreالصَّوَابِof correctness.
And when some of them saw that this title misleads that the book is in the medicine of the bodies, he alerted to its subject by saying: "Indeed, this is the medicine of the hearts," and that is also present in the core of correctness.
أَمَّاAs forالَّذِيthe one whoأَفْسَدَspoiledالأَمْرَthe matterفَهُوَit isثَالِثُهُمْthe third of themالَّذِيwhoتَوَهَّمَthoughtأَنَّthatدَوَاءَthe medicineالْقُلُوبِof the heartsفِيinالْعِبَارَةِthe phraseالسَّابِقَةِpreviousهُوَisعُنْوَانُthe titleالْكِتَابِof the book،, فَأَثْبَتَهُso he confirmed itبِجَانِبِهَاnext to itبَعْدَafterمَاwhatضَرَبَhe struckعَلَيْهَاon itضَرَبَاتٍstrikes.
As for the one who spoiled the matter, it is the third of them who thought that the medicine of the hearts in the previous phrase is the title of the book, so he confirmed it next to it after he struck it with strikes.
أَمَّاAs forالْأُسْتَاذُProfessorعَبْدُاللَّهِAbdullahالْجُبُورِيُّAl-Jubouriالَّذِيwhoفَهْرَسَindexedالنُّسْخَةَthe copy،, وَأَثْبَتَand confirmedبِدَايَتَهَاits beginningوَخَاتِمَتَهَاand its end،, ثُمَّthenنَقَلَtransferredعَنْfromمُعْجَمِthe dictionaryالْمَطْبُوعَاتِof published worksلِسَرْكِيسَfor Sarkisأَنَّthatالْكِتَابَthe bookمَطْبُوعٌis printedفِيin۱۵15(١(1)
As for Professor Abdullah Al-Jubouri who indexed the copy, he confirmed its beginning and end, then he transferred from the dictionary of published works for Sarkis that the book is printed in 15 (1).
