الثَّالثthe third::[١/١٨][1/18]سَعْيهِhis strivingفيinتَحْصيلِهِhis attainmentبِحَسَبِaccording toالإمْكانِthe possibility

The third: [1/18] His striving in attaining it according to the possibility.

وَأمَّاAnd as forرَجَاءhopeلاnotيُقارِنُهُcompared to(۱)(1)شَيْءٍanythingمِنofذَلكَthat،,فَهُوَit isمِنfromبابِthe realm ofالأمانيwishful thinking

And as for hope that is not compared to anything (1), it belongs to the realm of wishes!

وَالرَّجاءُAnd hopeشَيْءٌis something,وَالأمانيand wishesشَيْءٌis another thing.فَكُلُّSo everyرَاجٍhopefulخَائِفٌis afraid,وَالسَّائِرُand the travelerعَلَىonالطَّريقِthe roadإذَاifخَافَhe is afraidأَسْرَعَhe hastensالسَّيرَthe journeyمَخَافَةَout of fear ofالفَوَاتِloss.

Hope is something, and wishes are something else. So every hopeful person is afraid, and the traveler on the road, if he is afraid, hastens the journey out of fear of loss.

(۲)(2)وَفِيAnd inجامعِthe collection ofالتُّرمذيAl-Tirmidhiمِنfromحَدِيثِthe hadithأَبِيof AbuهُرَيْرَةَHurairaقَالَhe said:قَالَthe Messenger of Allah(1)(1)زmay Allah bless him.::لاDo notيُقارِبَهُget close to it.

And in the collection of Al-Tirmidhi from the hadith of Abu Huraira, he said: The Messenger of Allah (1) said: "Do not approach it.".

س:Q:«لا"Do notيُقَابِلْهُmatch it.»"

Q: "Do not match it."

(٢)(2)بِرَقْمِwith the number(٢٤٥٠)(2450).وَأَخْرَجَهُAnd it was narrated byالبُخَارِيAl-Bukhariفِيinتَارِيخِهِhis history(۱۱۱/٢)(111/2)وَعَبْدِand AbdبِنَbinحَمِيدٍHamid(المُنْتَخَبِ(the selected--١٤٦٠)1460)وَالْقَضَاعِيand Al-Qudaiفِيinمُسْنَدِthe Musnadالشِّهَابِof Al-Shihab(٤٠٦)(406)

(2) With the number (2450). And it was narrated by Al-Bukhari in his history (111/2) and Abd bin Hamid (the selected - 1460) and Al-Qudai in the Musnad of Al-Shihab (406).

وَالحَاكِمُAnd Al-Hakim٣٤٣/٤343/4(٧٨٥١)(7851)وَغَيْرُهُمْand othersمِنfromطَرِيقِthe pathيَزِيدَYazidبِنَbinسِنَانٍSananالرَّهَاوِيAl-RahawiعَنْaboutبَكِيرٍBakirبِنَbinفَيْروزٍFayruzعَنْaboutأَبِيof AbuهُرَيْرَةَHuraira،,فَذَكَرَهُhe mentioned it.

And Al-Hakim (343/4) (7851) and others from the path of Yazid bin Sanan Al-Rahawi from Bakir bin Fayruz about Abu Huraira, he mentioned it.

قَالَHe saidالتُّرمذيAl-Tirmidhi:«هَذَا"Thisحَدِيثٌhadithحَسَنٌis goodغَرِيبٌand strangeلاwe do notنَعْرِفُهُknow itإِلَّاexceptمِنfromحَدِيثِthe hadithأَبِيof AbuالنَّضْرِAl-NadrوَقَالَAnd he saidالحَاكِمُAl-Hakim:هَذَا"Thisحَدِيثٌhadithصَحِيحٌis authenticالإِسْنَادُthe chainوَلَمand has notيُخْرِجَاهُthey narrated it.

Al-Tirmidhi said: "This hadith is good and strange; we do not know it except from the hadith of Abu An-Nadr." Al-Hakim said: "This hadith is of authentic chain, and they did not narrate it.

قُلْتُI said:يَزِيدُYazidبِنَbinسِنَّانٍSananهَذاthisضَعِيفٌis weakالحِفْظُmemoryيُخْطِئُmakes mistakesكَثِيرًاoften.

I said: Yazid bin Sanan is weak in memory and often makes mistakes.

وَوَرَدَAnd it was reportedمِنfromحَدِيثِthe hadithأَبِيof AbuبِنْbinكَعْبٍK'abعِندَatالحَاكِمِAl-Hakim٣٤٣/٤343/4(٧٨٥٢)(7852)مِنfromطَرِيقِthe pathعَبْدِاللَّهِAbdullahبِنَbinالْوَلِيدِAl-WalidالْعَدَنِيِّAl-AdaniعَنْaboutالثَّوْرِيِّAl-ThawriعَنْaboutعَبْدِاللَّهِAbdullahبِنَbinمُحَمَّدٍMuhammadبِنَbinعَقِيلٍAqilعَنْaboutالطُّفَيْلِAl-TufailبِنَbinأَبِيAbuبِنْbinكَعْبٍK'abعَنْaboutأَبِيهِhis fatherقَالَhe said:قَالَThe Messenger of Allah ﷺ::«مَنْ"Whoeverخَافَis afraidأَدْلَجَhe journeys in the night,وَمَنْand whoeverأَدْلَجَjourneys nightبَلَغَhe reachesالْمَنْزِلَthe home.أَلَاBe aware thatإِنَّindeedسِلْعَةَthe merchandiseاللَّهِof Allahغَالِيَةٌis precious.أَلَاBe aware thatإِنَّindeedسِلْعَةَthe merchandiseاللَّهِof Allahالْجَنَّةُis Paradise.جَاءَتِThe tremor has comeالرَّاجِفَةُthe shakingتَتْبَعُهَاfollowing itالرَّادِفَةُthe second one.جَاءَDeath has comeالْمَوْتُwithمَاwhat is in it.

And it was reported from the hadith of Abu bin K'ab at Al-Hakim (343/4) (7852) from the path of Abdullah bin Al-Walid Al-Adani from Al-Thawri from Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Aqil from Al-Tufail bin Abu bin K'ab from his father, he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever is afraid journeys in the night, and whoever journeys in the night reaches the home. Be aware that the merchandise of Allah is precious. Be aware that the merchandise of Allah is Paradise. The tremor has come following it, and Death has come with what is in it."

وَقَدْAnd there wasخُولِفَcontradictedعَبْدُاللَّهِAbdullahبِنَbinالْوَلِيدِAl-Walidفِيinلَفْظِهِhis wordingفَرَوَاهُit was narratedوَكِيعٌby Wakiوَقَبِيصَةُand Qabisaوَسَعِيدُand SaidبِنَbinسَلاَّمٍSalamالْعَطَّارِAl-Ittarوَعَمْرُوand AmrبِنَbinمُحَمَّدٍMuhammadالْعُنَقَزِيِّAl-Anqaziكُلَّهُمْall of themعَنْfromالثَّوْرِيِّAl-Thawriبِهِwith it.بِلفْظٍIn wordingجَاءَتِhas comeالرَّاجِفَةُthe shaking........وَلَمand did notيَذْكُرُواmentionجُمْلَةًthe phraseمِنofخَافَwhoever fears......الْجَنَّةُParadise.

And Abdullah bin Al-Walid was contradicted in his wording, as it was narrated by Waki, Qabisa, Said bin Salam Al-Ittar, and Amr bin Muhammad Al-Anqazi, all of them from Al-Thawri with the wording: 'The shaking has come...' and they did not mention the phrase: 'Whoever fears...' Paradise.'

أَخْرَجَهُIt was narratedأَحْمَدُby Ahmad(٢١٢٤١)(21241)وَالتُّرْمُذِيُّand at-Tirmidhi(٢٤٥٧)(2457)وَإِسْمَاعِيلُand Ismailالْقَاضِيthe judgeفِيinفَضْلِthe virtueالصَّلَاةِof prayerعَلَىuponالنَّبِيِّthe Prophet(١٤)(14)وَالْبَيْهَقِيُّand Al-BayhaqiفِيinالشُّعَبِAl-Shu'ab(١٠٠٩٥)(10095)وَغَيْرُهُمْand others.

It was narrated by Ahmad (21241) and at-Tirmidhi (2457) and Ismail the judge in the virtue of prayer upon the Prophet (14) and Al-Bayhaqi in Al-Shu'ab (10095) and others.

تَنْبِيهٌNoteوَقَعَoccurredعِندَatأَبِيAbuنَعِيمٍNaeem(۳۷۷/۸)(377/8)وَالْبَيْهَقِيُّand Al-BayhaqiفِيinالشُّعَبِAl-Shu'ab(۱۰۰۹۳)(10093)مِنfromطَرِيقِthe pathأَحْمَدَAhmadبِنَbinمُحَمَّدٍMuhammadبِنَbinعُمَرَOmarوَأَبِيand AbuعَبْدِاللَّهِAbdullahالصَّفَّارِAl-SaffarعَنْaboutإِبْنِIbnأَبِيof AbuالدُّنْيَاAl-Dunya.

Note: It occurred at Abu Naeem (377/8) and Al-Bayhaqi in Al-Shu'ab (10093) from the path of Ahmad bin Muhammad bin Omar and Abu Abdullah Al-Saffar about Ibn Abu Al-Dunya.
