وَرَجُلٌand a manآخَرَ،another,فَقَالَsaidلَهَاto herالرَّجُلُ:the man:يَاOأُمَّMotherالْمُؤْمِنِينَof the believersحَدِّثِينَاtell usعَنِaboutالزَّلْزَلَةِ،the earthquake,
And another man said to her: O Mother of the believers, tell us about the earthquake.
فَقَالَتْShe said:إِذَاIfاسْتَبَاحُواthey committedالزِّنَاadulteryوَشَرِبُواand drankالْخَمْرَ،the alcohol,وَضَرَبُواand playedبِالْمَعَازِفِ،with musical instruments,
She said: If they commit adultery, drink alcohol, and play with musical instruments,
غَارَGod is angryاللَّهُAllahعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Almightyفِيinسَمَائِهِ،His heavens,فَقَالَthen He saidلِلْأَرْضِ:to the earth:تَزَلْزَلِيShakeبِهِمْ».because of them."
God, the Almighty, is angry in His heavens, then He said to the earth: "Shake because of them."
فَإِنْIfتَابُواthey repentوَانْزَعُوا،and refrain,وَإِلَّاbut if notهَدَمَهَاHe will destroy itعَلَيْهِمْupon them: قَالَ: saidيَاOأُمَّMotherالْمُؤْمِنِينَ،of the believers,أَعَذَابًاis it a punishmentلَهُمْ؟for them?
If they repent and refrain, but if not, He will destroy it upon them. He said: O Mother of the believers, is it a punishment for them?
قَالَتْShe said:بَلْRatherمَوْعِظَةًa reminderوَرَحْمَةًand mercyلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَfor the believersوَنَكَالًاand a warningوَعَذَابًاand punishmentوَسَخَطًاand wrathعَلَىuponالْكَافِرِينَ.the disbelievers.
She said: Rather, it is a reminder and mercy for the believers, and a warning and punishment and wrath upon the disbelievers.
فَقَالَThen saidأَنَسٌ:Anas:مَاI have notسَمِعْتُheardحَدِيثًاa hadithبَعْدَafterرَسُولِthe Messengerاللَّهِof Allahﷺ, (peace be upon him)أَنَاI amأَشَدُّthe happiestفَرَحًاin joyمِنِّيthan meبِهَذَاwith thisالْحَدِيثِ.hadith.
Anas said: I have not heard a hadith after the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) that made me happier than this hadith.
وَذُكِرَAnd mentionedابْنُIbnأَبِيAbiالدُّنْيَاAl-Dunyaحَدِيثًاa narrationمُرْسَلًاthat is sentأَنَّthatالْأَرْضَthe earthتَزَلْزَلَتْshookعَلَىduringعَهْدِthe eraرَسُولِof the Messengerاللَّهِof Allahﷺ،, (peace be upon him)فَوَضَعَand he placedيَدَهُhis handعَلَيْهَا،on it,ثُمَّthenقَالَsaidاِسْكُنِيStay stillفَإِنَّهَاfor itلَمhas notيَئِنَّyet comeلَكِto youبَعْدَ».yet."
And Ibn Abi Dunya mentioned in a narration that the earth shook during the era of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), so he placed his hand on it, and then said: "Stay still, for it has not yet come to you."
ثُمَّThenالاَفْتَhe turnedإِلَىtoأَصْحَابِهِ،his companions,فَقَالَand said:إِنَّIndeedرَبَّكُمْyour Lordيَسْتَعْتِبُكُمْis seeking your repentanceفَأَعْتِبُوهُso repent to Him.
Then he turned to his companions and said: "Indeed, your Lord is seeking your repentance, so repent to Him."
ثُمَّThenتَزَلْزَلَتْthe earth shookبِالنَّاسِwith the peopleعَلَىduringعَهْدِthe eraعُمَرَof UmarابْنِibnالْخَطَّابِAl-Khattabفَقَالَ:He said:أَيُّهَاO people,مَاwhatكَانَتْwasهَذِهِthisالزَّلْزَلَةُearthquakeإِلَّاexceptعَنْbecause ofشَيْءٍsomethingأَحْدَثْتُمُوهُ،you have done,و, andالَّذِيby Him whomنَفْسِيmy soulبِيَدِهِis in His handلَئِنْifعَادَتْit returnsلَاnotأُسَاكِنُكُمْI will dwell with youفِيَهَاin itأَبَدًا!forever!
Then the earth shook with the people during the era of Umar ibn Al-Khattab, and he said: "O people, this earthquake was only because of something you have done, and by Him in whose hand is my soul, if it returns, I will not dwell with you in it forever!"

(٤)(4)فِيInالْعُقُوبَاتِthe punishments(١٨)(18)وَهُوَand it isحَدِيثٌa narrationمُرْسَلٌthat is sentكَمَاasقَالَthe authorالمُؤَلِّفُthe authorوَالسِّيُوطِي.and Al-Suyuti.
(4) In the punishments (18), and it is a narration as the author and Al-Suyuti said.
وَرُوِيَAnd it was narratedعَنْfromشَهْرِShahrبِنِbinحُوشَبٍHushabمُرْسَلًاthat is sentمُخْتَصَرًاshortenedعِندَbyابْنِIbnأَبِيAbiشَيْبَةَShaiba٢٢٢٢2222(٨٣٣٤).(8334).
And it was narrated from Shahr bin Hushab shortened that it was reported by Ibn Abi Shaiba 2222 (8334).
قَالَHe saidالْحَافِظُthe HafizابْنُIbnحَجَرٍ:Hajar:«هَذَاThisمُرْسَلٌis a sent narrationضَعِيفٌ».and weak."
The Hafiz Ibn Hajar said: "This is a weak narration."
قَالَHe saidابْنُIbnعَبْدِAbdالْبَرِّAl-Barr::لَمnotيَأْتِcomeعَنْfromالنَّبِيِّthe Prophetﷺ, (peace be upon him)مِنْfromوَجْهٍany sourceأَنْthatالزَّلْزَلَةَthe earthquakeكَانَتْwasفِيduringعَصْرِهِ،his time,وَلَاand notصَحَّتْwas reportedعَنْهُon himفِيَهَاin itسُنَّةً،a year,وَقَدْand there wasكَانَتْit wasأُولُthe firstمَاthatصَحِيحٌis authenticكَانَتْwasفِيinعَهْدِthe timeعُمَرَof Umar
Ibn Abd Al-Barr said: "There has come to us no narration from the Prophet (peace be upon him) that the earthquake occurred during his time, nor was it authentically reported on him in it any year, and it was the first that was authentic during the time of Umar.
