مَنَFromعَصَيْتَYou disobeyed(۱)؟
Who did you disobey?
وَقَالَAnd saidالْفُضَيْلُAl-FudailبْنُbinعِيَاضٍIyad:بِقَدْرِAccording toمَاwhatيَصْغُرُshrinksالذَّنْبُsinعِندَكَ،with you,يَعْظُمُmagnifiesعِندَwithاللَّهِAllah.وَبِقَدْرِAnd according toمَاwhatيَعْظُمُmagnifiesعِندَكَ،with you,يَصْغُرُshrinksعِندَwithاللَّهِAllah.(٢) .
Al-Fudail ibn Iyad said: "According to how much the sin shrinks in your eyes, it magnifies in the sight of Allah. And according to how much it magnifies in your eyes, it shrinks in the sight of Allah."
وَقِيلَAnd it was said:أَوْحَىAllah revealedاللَّهُAllahتَعَالَىthe ExaltedإِلَىtoمُوسَىMusa (Moses):يَاOمُوسَى،Musa,إِنَّIndeed,أَوَّلَthe firstمَنْfromمَاتَdiedمِنْfromخَلْقِيMy creationإِبْلِيسَ،is Iblis,وَذَٰلِكَand thatأَنَّهُheعَصَانِي،disobeyed Me,وَإِنَّمَاand onlyأَعُدُّI considerمِنْamongعَصَانِيthose who disobey Meمِنْfromالأَمْوَاتِthe dead.(۳).
And it was said: Allah revealed to Musa: "O Musa, the first to die of My creation is Iblis, as he disobeyed Me. And I only consider those who disobey Me to be dead."
وَفِيAnd inالْمُسْنَدِthe Musnadوَجَامِعِand the جامع (Jami')التَّرْمِذِيِّof Al-Tirmidhi:مِنْis reported fromحَدِيثِthe hadithأَبِيof AbuصَالِحٍSalihعَنْfromأَبِيAbuهُرَيْرَةَHurairaقَالَhe said::قَالَThe Messengerرَسُولُof Allah ﷺ:«إِنَّ"Indeed,الْمُؤْمِنَthe believerإِذاifأَذْنَبَhe sins,نَكْتَa mark is recordedفِيinقَلْبِهِhis heartنَكْتَةًa black mark,سَوْدَاءَ،black.فَإِنْIf(٥)تَابَ،he repents,وَانْزَعَand withdrawsوَاسْتَغْفَرَ،and seeks forgiveness,صُقِلَتْhis heart is polished.وَإِنْAnd ifزَادَhe continues to sin,زَادَتْit increasesحَتَّىuntilتَعْلُوit coversقَلْبَهُ،his heart,فَذَٰلِكَthen that isالرَّانُthe covering (ran)
And in the Musnad and Jami' of Al-Tirmidhi from the hadith of Abu Salih from Abu Huraira, he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Indeed, if a believer sins, a black mark is recorded on his heart. If he repents, withdraws and seeks forgiveness, his heart is polished. But if he continues to sin, it increases until it covers his heart; that is the covering that Allah the Exalted mentioned: {No! Rather, the cover has overwhelmed their hearts because of what they were earning.} [Al-Mutaffifin 14]."
قَالَAl-Tirmidhi said::هَذَاThisحَدِيثٌhadithصَحِيحٌis authentic.وَقَالَAnd saidحُذَيْفَةُ:Hudhayfah:إِذاIfأَذْنَبَa servant sins,الْعَبْدُthe servant was recordedنُكِتَتْa black spotفِيinقَلْبِهِhis heartنَكْتَةًa black mark,سَوْدَاءَblack.حَتَّىuntilيَصِيرَit becomes.(٦)
Al-Tirmidhi said: "This hadith is authentic." And Hudhayfah said: "If a servant sins, a black mark is recorded on his heart until it becomes..."
الدِّمَشْقِيُّthe Damasceneالزَّاهِدُthe asceticالْوَاعِظُ،the preacher,وَكَانَتْand he hadلِأَبِيهِfor his fatherصُحْبَةٌcompanionship.اُنظُرْLookتَرْجَمَتَهُat his biographyفِيinالسِّيرِthe history.(9.10)
He was the Damascene ascetic preacher, and his father had companionship (with the Prophet). Look at his biography in the history.

(٢)(2) أَخْرَجَهُIt was narrated byابْنُIbnأَبِيAbiالدُّنْيَاAl-Dunyaفِيinالتَّوْبَةِrepentance(٦٤)وَعَنْهُand by himالْبَيْهَقِيُّAl-Bayhaqiفِيinالشَّعْبِthe sha’ab(٦٧٥١)وَابْنُand IbnعَسَاكِرَAsakirفِيinتَارِيخِهِhis history(٤٢٦/٤٨).(426/48).
(2) It was narrated by Ibn Abi Dunya in repentance (64) and by him by Al-Bayhaqi in the sha’ab (6751) and by Ibn Asakir in his history (426/48).
(۳)(3) أَخْرَجَهُIt was narratedابْنُIbnأَبِيAbiالدُّنْيَاAl-Dunyaفِيinالتَّوْبَةِrepentance(٤٢)عَنْfromمَسْرُوقٍMasrouqبْنِbinسُفْيَانَSufyan.
(3) It was narrated by Ibn Abi Dunya in repentance (42) from Masrouq ibn Sufyan.
(٤)(4) أَخْرَجَهُIt was narratedأَحْمَدُby Ahmadفِيinالْمُسْنَدِthe Musnad(٧٩٥٢٢٩٧/٢)وَالتَّرْمِذِيُّand Al-Tirmidhi(۳۳۳٤)وَابْنُand IbnمَاجَهَMajah(٤٢٤٤)وَابْنُand IbnحِبَّانَHibban(۹۳۰)وَالْحَاكِمُand Al-Hakim٥٦٢/٢(۳۹۰۸)وَغَيْرُهُمْ.and others.وَالْحَدِيثُAnd the hadithصَحَّحَهُwas authenticatedالتَّرْمِذِيُّby Al-Tirmidhiوَابْنُand IbnحِبَّانَHibbanوَالْحَاكِمُand Al-Hakimوَغَيْرُهُمْ.and others.
(4) It was narrated by Ahmad in the Musnad (7952297/2), Al-Tirmidhi (3334), Ibn Majah (4244), Ibn Hibban (930), Al-Hakim (562/2) and others. And the hadith was authenticated by Al-Tirmidhi, Ibn Hibban, Al-Hakim and others.
