His heart is like the ruddled sheep.

About what Imam Ahmad said.
حَدَّثَنَاhe narrated to usيَعْقُوبَYaqoob (Jacob),, حَدَّثَنَاhe narrated to usأَبِيmy father,, عَنْaboutصَالِحٍSaleh,, عَنْaboutابْنِthe sonشِهَابٍShihab (a star),, حَدَّثَنِيhe narrated to meعُبَيْدِ اللّهِUbaidullahبِنson ofعَبْدِ اللّهِAbdullahبِنson ofعُتْبَةَUtbah
He narrated to us from Yaqoob, he narrated to us from my father, about Saleh, about the son of Shihab, who narrated to me about Ubaidullah bin Abdullah bin Utbah.
عَبْدُ اللّهِAbdullahبِنson ofمَسْعُودٍMas'udأَنْthatرَسُولَthe Messengerاللَّهِof Allahصَلَّىpeace be upon himعَلَيْهِupon himوَسَلَّمَand salutationsقَالَsaid:: «أَمَا‘As forبَعْدَafterيَاOمَعْشَرَgroupقُرَيْشٍQurayshفَإِنَّكُمْindeed youأَهْلٌare the peopleلِهَذَاfor thisالأَمْرِmatter,, مَاas long asلَمnotتَعْصُواdisobeyاللَّهَAllah.. فَإِذَاBut ifعَصَيْتُمُوهُyou disobey HimبَعَثَHe sendsعَلَيْكُمْupon youمِنْone whoيَلْحَاكُمْwill decide for youكَمَاjust asيُلْحَىis shieldedهَذَاthisالْقَضِيبُstick
Abdullah bin Mas'ud said that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said: ‘As for after that, O group of Quraysh, indeed you are the people for this matter, as long as you do not disobey Allah. But if you disobey Him, He will send upon you one who will decide for you, just as this stick is shielded,’ - with a stick in his hand - then he shielded the stick, and it became white and shining.
وَذَكَرَAnd Imam Ahmad narratesالإِمَامَthe ImamأَحْمَدَAhmadعَنْaboutوَهْبٍWahbأَنْthatالرَّبَّthe Lordعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Mighty and SublimeقَالَsaidفِيinبَعْضِsomeمَاwhatيَقُولُHe saysلِبَنِيto the children ofإِسْرَائِيلَIsrael:: إِنِّيIndeed IإِذَاifأُطِعْتُI am obeyedرَضِيتُI am pleased,, وَإِذَاand ifرَضِيتُI am pleasedبَارَكْتُI bless,, وَلَيْسَand there is notلِبَرَكَّتِيfor my blessingنِهَايَةٌan end.. وَإِذَاAnd ifعُصِيتُI am disobeyedغَضِبْتُI am angry,, وَإِذَاand ifغَضِبْتُI am angryلَعَنْتُI curse,, وَلَعْنَتِيand my curse
And Imam Ahmad narrates about Wahb that the Lord, the Mighty and Sublime, said in what He says to the children of Israel: ‘Indeed, if I am obeyed, I am pleased, and if I am pleased, I bless, and there is no end to my blessing. And if I am disobeyed, I am angry, and if I am angry, I curse, and my curse.
أَخْرَجَهُNarratedأَبُوby AbuدَاوُدَDawoodفِيinالزُّهْدِthe asceticism:: (٢٨٥)(285)وَأَبُوand by AbuنَعِيمٍNaeemفِيinالْحِلْيَةِthe ornament:: (٢٧٣/١)(273/1)وَالْبَيْهَقِيُّand Al-Bayhaqiفِيinالشُّعَبِthe branches:: (٦٨١٠)(6810)وَسَندَهُand its chainصَحِيحٌis authentic.. الشَّاةُthe sheepالرَّبْدَاءُthe ruddled:: المُنْقَطَةُspottedبِحُمْرَةٍwith rednessوَبِيَاضٍand whitenessأَوْorسَوَادٍblacknessوَالرَّبْدَاءُand ruddledمِنَofالمَعْزَىthe goatsالسُّودَاءِthe blackالمُنْقَطَةُspottedبِحُمْرَةٍwith rednessاُنظُرseeاللِّسَانَthe tongue(رَبَدٍ)(Rabd)
Narrated by Abu Dawood in the asceticism: (285) and by Abu Naeem in the ornament: (273/1) and by Al-Bayhaqi in the branches: (6810) and its chain is authentic. The ruddled sheep: the one that is spotted with redness and whiteness or blackness, and the ruddled is from the black spotted goats, see Al-Lisan (Rabd).
فِيinالمُسْنَدِthe Musnad:: (٤٥٨/١)(458/1)وَأَخْرَجَهُand narratedأَبُوby AbuيَعْلَىYa'la(٤٣٨/٨)(438/8)وَالشَّاشِيُّand Al-Shashi(٨٦٩)(869).. قَالَSaidالْحَافِظُthe HafizفِيinالْفَتْحِAl-Fath:: (١١٦/١٣)(116/13)رُجَالُهُits narratorsثِقَاتٌare trustworthy،, إِلَّاexceptأَنَّهُthat heمِنَis fromرِوَايَةِthe narrationعُبَيْدِ اللّهِUbaidullahبِنson ofعَبْدِ اللّهِAbdullahبِنson ofعُتْبَةَUtbahبِنthe son ofمَسْعُودٍMas'udعَنْfromعَمِّهِthe uncleأَبِيهِof his father:: عَبْدِ اللّهِAbdullahبِنson ofمَسْعُودٍMas'ud،, وَلَمand did notيُدْرِكْهُmeet him
It was narrated in the Musnad: (458/1) and narrated by Abu Ya'la (438/8) and Al-Shashi (869). The Hafiz said in Al-Fath: (116/13) that its narrators are trustworthy, except that it is from the narration of Ubaidullah bin Abdullah bin Utbah bin Mas'ud from the uncle of his father: Abdullah bin Mas'ud, and he did not meet him.
سHe saidأَحْمَدُAhmadبِنbinيَعْقُوبَYaqoobبِنbinأَبِيAbuصَالِحٍSaleh...... حَدَّثَنِيhe narrated to meعَبْدُ اللّهِAbdullahبِنson ofعُتْبَةَUtbah
He said Ahmad bin Yaqoob bin Abu Saleh ... Abdullah bin Utbah narrated to me.
فِيInالنِّهَايَةِthe end:: (٤٦/٣)(46/3):: يَصْلُدُis shining:: أَيْi.e.يَبْرُقُit sparklesوَيَبْصُقُand it shines,, أَيْi.e.يَلْمَعُit glittersوَقَدْand it hasضُبِطَbeen recordedفِيinزZ
In the end: (46/3): is shining: i.e. it sparkles and shines, i.e. it glitters. And it has been recorded in Z.
فِيInالزُّهْدِthe asceticism:: (٢٨٩)(289)
In the asceticism: (289).
سHe saidإِنَّIndeed
He said: 'Indeed.
وَإِذَاAnd ifرَضِيتُI am pleased,, سَاقِطٌis omittedمِنfromنthe text.
And if I am pleased, is omitted from the text.
