عَنْaboutاللَّهِ،God,وَبَعْدُand afterالْمَعْصِيَةِthe sinأَعْظَمُis greater(۱)مِنْthanبَعْدَafterالْغَفْلَةِ،the heedlessness,وَبَعْدُand afterالْبِدْعَةِthe innovationأَعْظَمُis greaterمِنْthanبَعْدَafterالْمَعْصِيَةِ،the sin,وَبَعْدُand afterالْنِّفَاقِthe hypocrisyوَالشِّرْكِand polytheismأَعْظَمُis greaterمِنْthanذَلِكَthatكُلَّهَا.all.
About God, and after sin is greater than after heedlessness, and after innovation is greater than after sin, and after hypocrisy and polytheism is greater than all of that.
فَصْلٌSectionوَمِنْAnd ofعُقُوبَاتِهَا:its punishments:سُقُوطِthe fallالْجَاهِof prestigeوَالْمَنْزِلَةِand rankوَالْكِرَامَةِand honorعِندَwithاللَّهِGodوَعِندَand withخَلْقِهِ.His creation.
Section And of its punishments: the fall of prestige, rank, and honor with God and with His creation.
فَإِنَّIndeed,أَكْرَمَthe most honoredالْخَلْقَof creationعِنْدَwithاللَّهِGodأَتَّقَاهُمare the most piousوَأَقْرَبَهُمْand the closest to Himمِنْهُto Himمَنْزِلَةًin rankأَطْوَعَهُمْare the most obedient to Him,وَعَلَىand based onقَدْرِthe level ofطَاعَةِobedienceالْعَبْدِthe servantلَهُ،to Him,تَكُونُwill beمَنْزِلَتُهُhis rankعِندَهُ.with Him.
Indeed, the most honored of creation with God are those who are the most pious and closest to Him in rank, the most obedient to Him, and according to the level of the servant's obedience to Him, his rank will be with Him.
فَإِذَاSo ifعَصَاهُhe disobeys Himوَخَالَفَand opposesأَمْرَهُHis commandسَقَطَhe fallsمِنْfromعَيْنِهِ،His eye,مِنْfromقُلُوبِthe heartsعِبَادِهِ.of His servants.
So if he disobeys Him and opposes His command, he falls from His eye, from the hearts of His servants.
وَإِذَاAnd ifلَمْnotيَبْقَremainلَهُfor himجَاهٌprestigeعِنْدَwithالْخَلْقِthe creationوَهَانَand he is belittledعَلَيْهِمin their eyesعَامَلُوهُthey treat himعَلَىaccording toحَسَبِthe measure ofذَلِكَ،that,فَعَاشَso he livesبَيْنَهُمْamong themأَسْوَأَthe worstعَيْشٍlifeخَامِلٍobscureالذِّكْرِ،the remembrance,سَاقِطٍfallingالْقَدْرِ،rank,زَرِيٌّmiserableالحَالِstate(۲)لَاnoحُرْمَةٌsanctityلَهُ،for him,فَلَاso noفَرَحٌjoyلَهُfor himوَلَاnorسُرُورٌ.happiness.
And if he does not have prestige with the creation and is belittled in their eyes, they treat him according to that, so he lives among them the worst life, obscured in remembrance, falling in rank, and in a miserable state; he has no sanctity, so he has no joy nor happiness.
فَإِنَّIndeed,(٢خُمُولُthe obscurityالذِّكْرِof the remembranceوَسُقُوطُand the fallالْقَدْرِof rankوَالْجَاهِand prestige(٤)كُلُّallغَمٍّgriefوَهَمٍّand worry,وَحَزَنٍ،and sadness,وَلَاand noسُرُورٍhappinessمَعَهُwith it.وَلَاAnd noفَرَحٍjoy.وَأَيْنَAnd whereهَذَاis thisالْأَلَمُpainمِنَfromلَّذَّةِthe pleasureالْمَعْصِيَةِ،of sin,لَوْلَاif it weren't forسُكْرِthe intoxicationالشَّهْوَةِ؟of desire?
Indeed, the obscurity of remembrance and the fall of rank and prestige (4) brings all grief and worry, and sadness, and there is no happiness with it, nor joy. And where is this pain from the pleasure of sin, if it weren't for the intoxication of desire?
وَمِنْAnd ofأَعْظَمِthe greatestنِعَمِblessingsاللَّهِof Godعَلَىonالْعَبْدِthe servantأَنْthatيَرْفَعَHe raisesلَهُfor himبَيْنَamongالْعَالَمِينَthe worldsذِكْرَهُhis remembranceوَيُعَلِّيand honorsقَدْرَهُ.his status.
And one of the greatest blessings of God on the servant is that He raises his remembrance among the worlds and honors his status.
وَلِهَذَاAnd for this reason,خَصَّHe has chosenأَنْبِيَاءَهُHis Prophetsوَرُسُلَهُand messengersمِنْfromذَلِكَthatبِمَاwith whatلَيْسَis notلِغَيْرِهِم،for others,كَمَاasقَالَHe saidتَعَالَى:the Exalted:﴿“وَاذْكُرْAnd rememberعِبَادَنَاOur ServantsإِبْرَاهِيمَIbrahim,وَإِسْحَاقَand Ishaq,وَيَعْقُوبَand Yaqub.أَوْلِيThey are strongالْأَيْدِيin strengthوَالْأَبْصَارِand insight.إِنَّاIndeed, weأَخْلَصْنَاهُمْhave chosen themبِخَالِصَةٍwith a specialذِكْرَىmentionالْدَّارِof the abode.[ص/٤٥٤٦]أَيThat is,خَصَّصْنَاهُمْwe have specially chosen them.
And for this reason, He has chosen His Prophets and messengers from that which is not for others, as He said, the Exalted: "And remember Our Servants Ibrahim, Ishaq, and Yaqub. They are strong in strength and insight. Indeed, we have chosen them with a special mention of the abode." [Sad / 45 - 46] That is, we have specially chosen them.
