فَقَدَIndeedأَثَرَit affectedهَذَاthisالدَّوَاءَmedicationفِيinهَذَاthis(۱)الدَّاءِdisease,وَأَزَالَهُand removed itحَتَّىso thatكَأَنَّas ifلَمْnotيَكُنْhave been.
Indeed, this medication affected this disease and removed it so that it was as if it had not existed.
وَهُوَAnd it isأَهْوَنُthe easiestدَوَاءٌmedicationوَأَيْسَرُهُand the most accessibleوَلَوْAnd ifأَحْسَنَone improvedالْعَبْدُthe servantالتَّدَاوِيَthe remedyبِالْفَاتِحَةِby Al-Fatiha,لَرَأَىhe would seeلَهَاitsتَأْثِيرًاeffectعَجِيبًاamazingفِيinالشِّفَاءِhealing.
And it is the easiest and most accessible medication, and if the servant improved the remedy by Al-Fatiha, he would see its amazing effect in healing.
وَمَكُثْتُAnd I stayedبِمَكَّةَin Meccaمُدَّةًfor a whileتَعْتَرِينِيI experienced(۲)أَدوَاءًdiseases,وَلَاand did notأَجِدْfindطَبِيبًاa doctorوَلَاnorدَوَاءًmedicine,فَكُنْتُso I wasأُعَالِجُtreatingنَفْسِيmyselfبِالْفَاتِحَةِwith Al-Fatiha,فَأَرَىand I sawلَهَاfor itتَأْثِيرًاan effect[٢/ب]عَجِيبًاamazing(۳).
And I stayed in Mecca for a while experiencing diseases, and I did not find a doctor nor medicine, so I was treating myself with Al-Fatiha, and I saw its amazing effect.
فَكُنْتُSo I wasأَصِفُdescribingذَلِكَthatلِمَنto whomeverيَشْتَكِيis complaining(٤)أَلَمًاpain,وَكَانَand many(٥)كَثِيرٌmanyمِنْهُمْof themيَبْرَأُhe healedسَرِيعًاquickly(٦)
So I was describing that to whomever was complaining of pain, and many of them healed quickly.
وَلَكِنْButهَهُنَاhereأَمْرٌis a matterيُنْبَغِيthat shouldالتَّفَطُّنَbe notedلَهُto it,وَهُوَand it isأَنَّthatالأَذْكَارَthe remembrancesوَالْآيَاتِand the versesوَالأَدْعِيَةَand the supplicationsالَّتِيthatيُسْتَشْفَىare used for healingبِهَاwith themوَيُرْقَىand are recited toبِهَاthemهِيَareفِيinنَفْسِهَاthemselvesنَافِعَةٌbeneficialشَافِيَةٌand healing.
But here is a matter that should be noted, and it is that the remembrances, verses, and supplications that are used for healing are beneficial and healing in themselves.
وَلَكِنَّهَاBut they requireتَسْتَدْعِيacceptanceقَبُولَof the receiving party,وَقُوَّةًand the strengthهِمَّةَof the intentionالْفَاعِلِof the doerوَتَأْثِيرَهُand his influence.
But they require the acceptance of the recipient, the strength of the intention of the doer, and its influence.
فَمَتَىSo wheneverتَخَلَّفَthe healing was absentالشِّفَاءُthe recoveryكَانَit wasلِضَعْفِdue to the weaknessتَأْثِيرِof the influenceالْفَاعِلِof the doer,أَوْorلِعَدَمِdue to the lackقَبُولِof acceptanceالْمُنْفَعِلِof the recipient,أَوْorلِمَانِعٍdue to a strong barrierقَوِيٍّstrongفِيهِwithin itيَمْنَعُthat preventsأَنْit fromيَنْجَحَsucceedingفِيهِin itالدَّوَاءُthe medication؛كَمَاjust asيَكُونُit occursذَلِكَthatفِيinالأَدْوِيَةِmedicationsوَالأَدوَاءِand diseasesالْحَسِّيَّةِsensory.
So whenever recovery was absent, it was due to the weakness of the doer's influence, or due to the lack of acceptance of the recipient, or due to a strong barrier within him that prevents the medication from succeeding in him, just as that occurs in medications and sensory diseases.
فَإِنَّFor indeedعَدَمَthe lack ofتَأْثِيرِهَاits effectقَد يُكُونُmay beلِعَدَمِdue to the lackقَبُولِof acceptanceالطَّبِيعَةِof natureلِذَلِكَfor thatالدَّوَاءِmedication,وَقَدْand mayيَكُونُbeلِمَانِعٍdue to a barrierقَوِيٍّstrongيَمْنَعُthat preventsمِنْfromاقْتِضَائِهِeffecting itsأَثَرِهِeffect.
For indeed the lack of its effect may be due to the lack of acceptance of nature for that medication, and it may also be due to a strong barrier that prevents its effect.
فَإِنَّFor indeedالطَّبِيعَةَnatureإِذَاifأَخَذَتِit acceptsالدَّوَاءَthe medicationبِوُعَاءِwith complete acceptance,كَانَthe utilityالِانتِفَاعُbenefitالْبَدَنِof the bodyبِهِfrom itبِحَسَبِaccording toذَلِكَthatالْقَبُولِacceptance.
For indeed, if nature accepts the medication with complete acceptance, then the benefit to the body from it is according to that acceptance.
وَكَذَلِكَSimilarlyالْقَلْبُthe heartإِذَاifأَخَذَit acceptsالرُّقَىthe recitationsوَالتَّعَاوِيذَand the amuletsبِقَبُولٍwith acceptance.
Similarly, if the heart accepts the recitations and the amulets with acceptance.
