And he must have it, and what the oppressor does to himself from the people of faith.

فَفِيهِIn itمِنْthere is ofوَلَايَةِthe guardianshipاللَّهِof Allahبِقَدْرِaccording to theإِيمَانِهِhis faithوَتَقْوَاهُand his piety

In it is the guardianship of Allah according to his faith and piety.

كَمَاAsمَعَهُwith himمِنْis fromضِدٍّthe opposite ofذَٰلِكَthatبِقَدْرِaccording to theفُجُورِهِhis wickedness.

As with him is the opposite of that according to his wickedness.

فَالشَّخْصُSo a personالْوَاحِدُoneقَدْmayتَجْتَمِعَgatherفِيهِin himالْحَسَنَاتِthe good deedsالْمُقْتَضِيَةِthat necessitateلِلثَّوَابِthe rewardوَالسَّيِّئَاتِand the sinsالْمُقْتَضِيَةِthat necessitateلِلْعُقَابِfor punishment.

So a person may gather in him the good deeds that necessitate the reward and the sins that necessitate the punishment.

حَتَّىUntilيُمكِنُit may beأَنْthatيُثَابَhe is rewardedوَيُعَاقَبَand punished.

Until it may be that he is rewarded and punished.

وَAndهَذَاthisقَوْلٌis the sayingأَصْحَابِof the companionsرَسُولِof the Messengerاللَّهِof Allah(صَلَّى(peaceاللَّهُbe uponعَلَيْهِhimوَسَلَّمَ)and salutations).

And this is the saying of the companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).

وَأَئِمَّةُAnd the imamsالإِسْلَامِof Islamوَandأَهْلُthe peopleالسُّنَّةِof the Sunnahوَالْجَمَاعَةِand the community.

And the imams of Islam and the people of the Sunnah and the community.

الَّذِينَWhoيَقُولُونَsayإِنَّهُthat heلَاwill notيُخَلَّدَremain foreverفِيinالنَّارِthe Fireمِنْfromفِيinقَلْبِهِhis heartمِثْقَالَthe weightذَرَّةٍof an atomمِنْfromإِيمَانٍfaith.

Who say that he will not remain forever in the Fire from the weight of an atom of faith in his heart.

وَأَمَّاAnd as forالْقَائِلُونَthose who sayبِالْخُلْدِof permanenceكَالْخَوَارِجِlike the Khawarijأَوْorالْمُعْتَزِلَةِthe Mu'tazilaالْقَائِلِينَwho claimأَنَّهُthat heلَاwill notيَخْرُجَcome outمِنْfromالنَّارِthe Fireمِنْfromدَخَلَهَاentering itمِنْofأَهْلِthe peopleالْقِبْلَةِof the Qiblah.

And as for those who say of permanence, like the Khawarij or the Mu'tazila, who claim that he will not come out of the Fire after entering it from the people of the Qiblah.

وَأَنَّهُand that heلَاwill notشَفَاعَةًintercessionلِلرَّسُولِfor the Messengerوَلَاand notلِغَيْرِهِfor othersفِيinأَهْلِthe peopleالْكَبَائِرِof the major sinsلَاnotقَبْلَbeforeدُخُولِentryالنَّارِthe Fireوَلَاand notبَعْدَهَاafter it.

And that he will not have intercession for the Messenger and not for others in the people of the major sins, neither before entering the Fire nor after it.

فَعِندَهُمْSo with themلَاthere is notيَجْتَمِعُgatheredفِيinالشَّخْصِa personالْوَاحِدِoneثَوَابٌrewardوَعِقَابٌand punishmentوَحَسَنَاتٌand good deedsوَسَيِّئَاتٌand evils,

So with them there is not gathered in one person reward and punishment and good deeds and evils.

بَلْRatherمَنْwhoeverأُثِيبَis rewardedلَاwill notيُعَاقَبbe punished,وَمَنْand whoeverعُوقِبَis punishedلَمْwill notيُثَبَbe rewarded.

Rather, whoever is rewarded will not be punished, and whoever is punished will not be rewarded.

The evidence of this principle from the Book, the Sunnah, and the consensus of the Ummah is many.

لَيْسَIt is notهَذَاthisهُوَisمَوْضِعَهُthe place for it.قَدIt has beenبُسِطْنَاexpandedفِيinمَوْضِعِهِits place.

It is not this is the place for it; it has been expanded in its place.

وَAndيَنْبَنِيis basedعَلَىonهَذَاthisأُمُورٌissuesكَثِيرَةٌmany,

And this is based on many issues.

وَلِهَذَاAnd for this reasonمَنْwhoeverكَانَwasمَعَهُwith himإِيمَانٌfaithحَقِيقِيٌّtrue,فَلَاthen notبُدَّmustأَنْthatيَكُونَhe isمَعَهُwith himمِنْofهَذِهtheseالْأَعْمَالِworksبِقَدْرِaccording toإِيمَانِهِhis faithوَإِنْand ifكَانَwasلَهُfor himذُنُوبٌsins.

And for this reason, whoever had true faith must have with him these works according to his faith, and if he had sins.
