For the hopeful, the greedy only desires what he loves, not what he hates.

And the fearful flees from fear to attain the beloved.

He said, Exalted be He, in Al-Isra: 'Those who supplicate, seeking a means to their Lord, which of them is closer, and hope for His mercy and fear His punishment.'
وَقَالَAnd He saidالْبَقَرَةُAl-BaqarahإِنَّIndeedالَّذِينَthose whoآمَنُواbelievedوَالَّذِينَand those whoهَاجَرُواmigratedوَجَاهَدُواand stroveفِيinسَبِيلِthe pathاللَّهِof Allah.أُولَـٰئِكَThoseيَرْجُونَhope forرَحْمَةَthe mercyاللَّهِof Allah.
And He said in Al-Baqarah: 'Indeed, those who believed and those who migrated and strove in the path of Allah, those hope for the mercy of Allah.'
وَرَحْمَتُهُAnd His mercyاسْمٌis a nameجَامِعٌthat encompassesلِكُلِّeveryخَيْرٍgoodوَعَذَابُهُAnd His punishmentاسْمٌis a nameلِكُلِّfor everyشَرٍّevil.
And His mercy is a name that encompasses every good, and His punishment is a name for every evil.
وَدَارُAnd the abodeالرَّحْمَةِof mercyالْخَالِصَةِpureهِيَisالْجَنَّةُParadise.وَدَارُAnd the abodeالْعَذَابِof punishmentالْخَالِصِpureهِيَisالنَّارُthe Fire.
And the pure abode of mercy is Paradise, and the pure abode of punishment is the Fire.
وَأَمَّاAnd as forالدُّنْيَاthe worldفَدَارٌit is a dwellingاِسْتِدْرَاجٌfor gradual temptation.
And as for the world, it is a dwelling for gradual temptation.
فَالْرَّجَاءُTherefore, hopeوَإِنْeven ifتَعَلَّقَit concernsبِدُخُولِenteringالْجَنَّةِParadise.فَالْجَنَّةُFor Paradiseاسْمٌis a nameجَامِعٌthat encompassesلِكُلِّallنَعِيمٍbliss.وَأَعْلَاهُAnd its highestالنَّظَرُis the sightإِلَىtoوَجْهِthe faceاللَّهِof Allah.
Therefore, hope, even if it concerns entering Paradise, for Paradise is a name that encompasses all bliss, and its highest is the sight of the face of Allah.
