زَAndوَسَمِعَMusa heardمُوسَىMusaعَلَيْهِupon himالسَّلاَمُpeaceكَلَامَthe speechاللَّهِof AllahتَعَالَىExalted
And Musa heard the speech of Allah, Exalted.
يَعْنِيThat is to sayسَمِعَHe heardمُوسَىMusaعَلَيْهِupon himالسَّلاَمُpeaceمِنْfromاللَّهِAllahتَعَالَىExalted
That is to say, Musa heard from Allah, Exalted.
بِلاَwithoutوَاسِطَةٍintermediaryكَلَامِهِHis speechالْقَدِيمِthe ancientالْقَائِمِwhich existsبِذَاتِهِby HimselfتَعَالَىExalted
Without an intermediary, His ancient speech that exists by Himself, Exalted.
كَمَاAsجَاءَhas comeفِيinقَوْلِهِHis sayingتَعَالَىExaltedوَكَلَّمَand spokeاللَّهُAllahتَكْلِيمًاin words
As has come in His saying, Exalted, "And Allah spoke (to Musa) in words."
مُوسَىMusa
Musa.
وَاللَّهُAnd AllahتَعَالَىExaltedقَادِرٌis ableأَنْtoيُكَلِّمَspeak toالْمَخْلُوقَthe creationمِنَfromالْجِهَاتِthe directionsأَوْorالْجِهَةِthe one directionالْواحِدَةِthe singleبِلاَwithoutآلَةٍan instrumentوَيَسْمَعُهُand hears himبِالْآلَةِthrough an instrumentكَالْحُرُوفِlike lettersوَالصَّوْتِand soundلَاحْتِيَاجِهِfor his needإِلَيْهَاto itفِيinفَهْمِهِunderstanding hisكَلَامِهُhis speechالْأَزَلِيِّthe eternalفَإِنَّهُFor Heعَلَىonذَٰلِكَthatقَدِيرٌis ableلِأَنَّهُbecause Heعَلَىoverكُلِّallشَيْءٍthingقَدِيرٌis powerful
And Allah, Exalted, is able to speak to the creation from the directions or the single direction without an instrument and hears him through an instrument like letters and sound for his need to understand his eternal speech, for He is able over that; for He is powerful over all things.
قِيلَIt is saidكَانَthere wasمُوسَىMusaعَلَيْهِupon himالسَّلاَمُpeaceإِذَاwhenكَلَّمَهُHe spoke to himاللَّهُAllahتَعَالَىExaltedكَلامَهُHis speech
It is said that Musa, upon him, peace, when Allah spoke to him, Exalted, in His speech.
سَمِعَHe heardمِنْfromبَاطِنِthe interiorالْغَمَامِof the cloudالَّذِيwhichكَانَwasكَالْعَمُودِlike a pillarوَقَدْand hasيَغْشَاهُenveloped himالْغَمَامُthe cloudوَقَدْand hasكَانَwasاللَّهُAllahتَعَالَىExaltedمُتَكَلِّمًاspeakingوَلَمْand notيَكُنْwasكَلَّمَspokeمُوسَىMusaعَلَيْهِupon himالسَّلاَمُpeace
He heard from the interior of the cloud which was like a pillar, and the cloud encompassed him, and Allah, Exalted, was speaking; and He did not speak to Musa, upon him, peace.
بِأَنْBy saying thatقَالَHe saidلِمُوسَىto Musaفِيinالْأَزَلِthe eternityبِلاَwithoutصَوْتٍsoundوَلَاand notحَرَفٍletterيَاOمُوسَىMusaإِنِّيIndeed IأَنَاI amرَبُّكَyour LordفَاخْلَعْSo removeنَعْلَيْكَyour sandalsفَلَمَّاSo whenأَتَاهَاhe came to itنُودِيَhe was calledيَاOمُوسَىMusaإِنِّيIأَنَاI amرَبُّكَyour LordفَاخْلَعْSo removeنَعْلَيْكَyour sandals
By saying to Musa in eternity, without sound and letter, "O Musa, indeed I am your Lord, so remove your sandals." And when he came to it, he was called, "O Musa, I indeed am your Lord, so remove your sandals."
وَاللَّهُAnd AllahتَعَالَىExaltedعَلِمَknewفِيinالْأَزَلِeternityأَنَّهُthat Heيُنَزِّلُwould send downالْقُرْآنَthe QuranعَلَىuponمُحَمَّدٍMuhammadوَيُخْبِرَهُand inform himبِقِصَّةِof the storiesالْأَنْبِيَاءِof the prophetsوَغَيْرِهِمْand othersوَيَأْمُرُهُمْand commands themبِالْأَشْيَاءِthe thingsوَقَضَاهَاand decrees themوَلَاAnd notيَكُونَthere will beفِيinالدُّنْيَاthe worldوَلَاand notفِيinالْآخِرَةِthe hereafterشَيْءٌthingإِلَّاexceptبِمَشِيئَتِهِby His willوَعِلْمِهِand His knowledgeوَقَضَائِهِand His decreeوَقَدْرِهِand His measureوَكَتَبَهُAnd He wroteفِيinاللَّوحِthe tabletالْمَحْفُوظِthe preservedوَلَكِنButكَبَتَبَHe wroteبِالْوَصْفِby descriptionلَاnotبِالحُكْمِby decreeوَالْقَضَاءِand the decreeوَالْقَدْرِand measureوَالْمَشِيئَةِand will
And Allah, Exalted, knew in eternity that He would send down the Quran upon Muhammad and inform him of the stories of the prophets and others, and commands them regarding the things and decrees them; and not a thing in this world or the Hereafter will occur except by His will, knowledge, decree, measure, and He wrote it in the preserved tablet; but He wrote it by description, not by decree and measure and will.
