The covenant is to persist in that faith. If it is said, this contradicts his statement that Allah first created creation sound from disbelief and faith, we say its meaning is that Allah created creation unblemished by acquired faith but characterized by innate faith. The Prophet ﷺ said: "Every newborn is born on the innate disposition, then his parents will make him a Jew, or a Christian, or a Magian." And this is proof that the children of Muslims and the children of disbelievers are believers with innate faith. And He did not compel anyone from His creation to disbelief or to faith, meaning that Allah the Exalted does not create disbelief or faith in the heart of the servant by means of compulsion and coercion, but He creates them by the choice and satisfaction of the servant and his love. Do you not see that faith is beloved to the believer and disbelief is disliked, abominable, and repugnant to him? Disbelief is beloved to the disbeliever. (And He does not create them as believers with acquired faith, nor as disbelievers with acquired disbelief, but He created them as individuals; and faith, disbelief, and obedience are the actions of the servants, meaning that disbelief, faith and obedience are true, and with the truth we take them all together, and we do not mention any of the companions of the Messenger of Allah except with good, and we do not disbelieve a Muslim for a sin from the sins, even if it is major, if he does not consider it permissible, and we do not remove from him the name of faith.
