وَصَدَقَAnd he believedقَلْبَهُhis heartمَعْنَاهُits meaningفَهُوَso he isمُؤْمِنٌa believerوَإِنْand ifلَمْhe does notيَعْرِفْknowالْفَرَائِضَthe obligatory actsوَالْمُحَرَّمَاتِand the prohibited acts

And if his heart believes in the meaning, then he is a believer even if he does not know the obligatory acts and the prohibited acts.

ثُمَّThenإِذَاifقِيلَit is saidلَهُto himإِنَّthatالصَّلَوَاتِthe prayersالْخَمْسَthe fiveفِيinكُلِّeveryيَوْمٍdayوَلَيْلَةٍand nightفَرْضٌis an obligationعَلَيْكَupon youفَإِنْthen ifصَدَقَhe believesفَرْضِيَّتَهَاit is obligatoryعَلَيْهِupon himوَقَبِلَهَاand he accepts itفَهُوَthen he isثَابِتٌfirmعَلَىonإِيمَانِهِhis faithوَإِنْand ifأَنْكَرَهَاhe denies itوَلَمْand does notيَقْبَلْهَاaccept itفَهُوَthen he isكَافِرٌa disbeliever

Then if it is said to him that the five prayers every day and night are obligatory upon you, then if he believes in its obligation and accepts it, then he is firm on his faith; but if he denies it and does not accept it, then he is a disbeliever.

وَكَذَلِكَAnd likewiseسَائِرُthe rest ofالْفَرَائِضِthe obligationsوَالْمُحَرَّمَاتِand the prohibitionsالثَّابِتَةُthat are establishedبِدَلِيلٍby evidenceقَطْعِيٍّcategoricalمِنَfromالْكِتَابِthe Bookوَالسُّنَّةِand the Sunnahوَإِجْمَاعِand the consensusالْأُمَّةِof the communityوَقِيَاسِand analogyالْفُقَهَاءِof the scholars

And likewise the rest of the obligations and prohibitions that are established by categorical evidence from the Book, the Sunnah, the consensus of the community, and the analogy of the scholars.

(وَإِيْمَانٌ(And the faithأَهْلُof the peopleالسَّمَاءِof the heavensوَالْأَرْضِand the earthلَاdoes notيَزِيدُincreaseوَلَاand does notيَنْقُصُdecreaseمِنْfromجَانِبِthe sideالْمُؤْمِنِof the believerبِهِin Himوَيَزِيدُand increasesوَيَنْقُصُand decreasesمِنْfromجَانِبِthe sideالْيَقِينِof certaintyوَالتَّصْدِيقِand affirmation،يَعْنِيmeaningإِيْمَانٌthe beliefالْمَلَائِكَةِof the angelsوَإِيْمَانٌand the beliefالْإِنْسِof mankindوَالْجِنِّand the jinnلَاdoes notيَزِيدُincreaseوَلَاand does notيَنْقُصُdecreaseفِيinالدُّنْيَاthe worldوَالْآخِرَةِand the Hereafter

(And the belief of the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth does not increase or decrease from the side of the believer in Him, and it increases and decreases from the side of certainty and affirmation, meaning the belief of the angels and the belief of mankind and the jinn does not increase or decrease in this world and the Hereafter.

لَأَنَّBecauseمَنْwhoeverقَالَsaidآمَنتُI believeبِاللَّهِin Godوَمَاand in whatجَاءَcameمِنْfromعِندَwithاللَّهِGodوَآمَنتُand I believeبِالرَّسُولِin the Messengerاللَّهِof Allahوَمَاand whatجَاءَcameمِنْfromعِندَwithرَسُولِthe Messengerاللَّهِof Godفَقَدْthen he hasآمَنَbelievedيَجِبُmustالإِيْمَانُthe beliefبِهِin himفَهُوَthen he isمُؤْمِنٌa believer

Because whoever says: 'I believe in God and what has come from God and I believe in the Messenger of God and what has come from the Messenger of God', then he has believed; he must have faith in him. Then he is a believer.

وَمَنْAnd whoeverآمَنَbelievesبِبَعْضِin someمَاof whatيَجِبُmustالإِيْمَانُthe beliefبِهِin himبِأَنَّthatآمَنَbelievesبِاللَّهِin Godوَمَلَائِكَتِهِand His angelsوَكُتُبِهِand His booksوَارُسُلِهِand His messengersوَلَمْand does notيُؤْمِنْbelieveبِالْيَوْمِin the Dayالْآخِرِof the Otherفَهُوَthen he isكَافِرٌa disbeliever،وَمَنْAnd whoeverآمَنَbelievesبِاللَّهِin Godوَرَسُولِهِand His Messengerوَلَمْand does notيُؤْمِنْbelieveبِغَيْرِهِمَاbesides themفَهُوَthen he isكَافِرٌa disbeliever

And whoever believes in some of what he must believe in, that is, believes in God and His angels, and His books, and His messengers, but does not believe in the Day of Judgment, he is a disbeliever; and whoever believes in God and His Messenger but does not believe in the others, he is also a disbeliever.

فَلَاSo do notيَجْمَعَgatherالْحُورَthe houris الْعِينَthe wide-eyed maidensأَبَدًاeverوَلَاand notيَفْنَىceaseعِقَابَthe punishmentاللَّهِof AllahتَعَالَىThe Most High

So do not gather the houris ever, nor will the punishment of Allah, the Most High, cease.

وَاللَّهُAnd AllahتَعَالَىThe Most Highيَهْدِيguidesمَنْwhoeverيَشَاءُwillsفَضْلًاout of graceمِنْهُfrom Himوَيُضِلُّand misleadsمَنْwhoeverيَشَاءُwillsعَدْلًاin justice

And Allah, the Most High, guides whoever He wills out of His grace, and misleads whoever He wills in justice.
