Invalid, and apply (the same) to all actions of obligations and supererogatory acts, and faith is not the same, because the faith of one who believed in some of the believers is not correct faith, but it is invalid like fasting of someone who fasted some of one day and then breaks the fast.

وَالإسلامُand Islamهُوَisالتسليمُsubmissionوَالانْقِيَادُand complianceلِأَوَامِرِto the commandsاللَّهِAllahتَعَالَىthe Most High.

And Islam is submission and compliance to the commands of Allah, the Most High.

فِيInالصِّحَاحِauthentic textsالتسليمُsubmissionبِذَلِّwith the giving ofالرَّضَاsatisfactionبِالْحُكْمِto the rulingوَالانْقِيَادُand complianceالخُضُوعُsubmissivenessوَالْخُشُوعُand humilityوَالْتَّطَامُنُand modestyوَالتَّوَاضُعُand humility

In the authentic texts, submission is with the giving of satisfaction to ruling and compliance is submissiveness and humility and modesty.

فَمَعْنَىThus the meaningالإسلامُIslamهُوَisالرَّضَاsatisfactionبِأَحْكَامِwith the rulingsاللَّهِGodتَعَالَىthe Most Highمِنْofالْفَرَائِضِthe obligationsوَالْمُحَرَّمَاتِ،and the prohibitions,أَيthat isهُوَit isالرَّضَاthe satisfactionبِحُكْمِwith the ruleاللَّهِof Allahتَعَالَىthe Most Highبِكَوْنِby beingبَعْضٍsomeالأَشْيَاءِthingsفَرْضاً،an obligation,وَيَكُونُand some things areبَعْضٍsomeالأَشْيَاءِthingsحَلَالاً،permissible,وَبِكَوْنِand by beingبَعْضٍsomeالأَشْيَاءِthingsحَرَاماًforbiddenبِلَاwithoutاعتراضٍprotestوَلَاand notاستقباحٍdisgust

Thus the meaning of Islam is satisfaction with the rulings of Allah, the Most High, regarding the obligations and the prohibitions, that is, it is satisfaction with the ruling of Allah being that some things are an obligation, and some things are permissible, and some things are forbidden without protest or disgust.

فَمَنْSo fromطَرِيقِthe pathاللُّغَةِof languageفَرْقٌthere is a distinctionبَيْنَbetweenالإيمانِfaithوَالإسلامِand Islamلِأَنَّbecauseالإيمانَthe faithفِيinاللُّغَةِthe languageعِبَارَةٌis a statementعَنْaboutالتَّصْدِيقِthe beliefقالَsaidاللَّهُAllahتَعَالَى:the Most High:«وَمَا"And whatأَنْتَare youبِمُؤْمِنٍby a believerلَنَا"for us"أَيthat isبِمُصَدِّقٍby confirmingلَنَا،"for us,"وَالإسلامُand Islamعِبَارَةٌis a statementعَنْaboutالتَّسْلِيمِ،of submitting,وَلِلتَّصْدِيقِand for the beliefمَحَلٌّthe placeخَاصٌّspecialوَهُوَand it isالْقَلْبُthe heartوَاللِّسَانُand the tongueتَرْجُمَانُهُ،its translator,وَأَمَّاand as forالتَّسْلِيمِthe submissionفَإِنَّهُit isعَامٌّgeneralفِيinالْقَلْبِthe heartالمَعْصِيَةِsinوَلَاand notيَجُوزُit is permissibleأَنْto sayنَقُولُwe sayإِنَّthatالشَّيْطَانَthe devilيَسْلُبُtakes awayالإيمانَthe faithمِنَfromالْعَبْدِthe slaveالمُؤْمِنِthe believerقَهْراًby forceوَجَبْراً،and coercion,وَلَكِنَbutنَقُولُwe sayالْعَبْدُthe servantيَدَعُleavesالإيمانَthe faith

So from the path of language, there is a distinction between faith and Islam because faith in language is a statement about confirming, Allah, the Most High, said: "And what are you by a believer for us" meaning confirming for us, and Islam is a statement of submitting, and for the belief there is a special place, which is the heart and the tongue is its translator, and as for submission, it is general in the heart of sin; and it is not permissible to say that the devil takes away the faith from the believing servant by force and coercion, but we say that the servant leaves the faith.
