قَصَدْنَاWe intendedإِلَىtoإِثْبَاتِproveرُؤْيَةِthe visionاللَّهِof Allahفِيinالْآخِرَةِthe Hereafterعَلَىonأَنْthatهَذِهِthisالرِّوَايَةِnarration
We intended to prove the vision of Allah in the Hereafter, on the understanding that this narration is not for the Mu'tazila as they deny that Allah is truly light.
فَإِذَاSo ifاحْتَجُّواthey argueبِخَبَرِهِمwith their reportلَهُfor Himتَارِكُونَthey would leaveوَعَنْهُand they would deviate from itمُنْحَرِفُونَthey are deviatedكَانُواthey would have beenمُحَجَّجُونَrefuted
So if they argue with their report for Him, they would leave it and deviate from it; they would have been refuted.
دَلِيلٌproofآخَرُanotherوَمِمَّاand whatيَدُلُّindicatesعَلَىonرُؤْيَةِthe visionاللَّهِof Allahعَزَّthe Mightyوَجَلَّand Sublimeبِالْأَبْصَارِwith the eyes
Another proof of the vision of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, with the eyes is that Allah sees things.
وَإِذَاAnd ifكَانَthere wasلِلْأَشْيَاءِfor thingsرَائِيًاa seerفَلَاthen do notيَرَىseeالْأَشْيَاءِthe thingsمَنْ لَاwho does notيَرَىseeنَفْسَهُhimself
And if there is a seer for things, then the one who does not see himself does not see the things.
وَإِذَاAnd ifكَانَthere wasلِنَفْسِهِfor his ownرَائِيًاa seerفَجَائِزٌit is permissibleأَنْthatيُرِينَاHe shows usنَفْسَهُHimselfوَذَٰلِكَand thatأَنْthatمَنْwhoلَاdoes notيَعْلَمknowنَفْسَهُhimselfلَاnotيَعْلَمknowشَيْئًاanything
And if there is a seer for himself, then it is permissible that He shows us Himself; and that is because whoever does not know himself does not know anything.
فَلَمَّاSo whenكَانَthere wasاللَّهُAllahعَزَّthe Mightyوَجَلَّand Sublimeرَائِيًاa seerلِلْأَشْيَاءِfor thingsكَانَHe wasرَائِيًاa seerلِنَفْسِهِfor Himselfوَإِذَاand ifكَانَthere wasرَائِيًاa seerلَهَاto itفَجَائِزٌit is permissibleأَنْthatيُرِينَاHe shows usنَفْسَهُHimselfكَمَاjust asأَنَّهُthat he
So when Allah the Mighty and Sublime was a seer for things, He was a seer for Himself; and if He was a seer for it, then it is permissible that He shows us Himself just as he was.
عَالِمًاall-knowingبِنَفْسِهِof Himselfجَازَit is permissibleأَنْthatيُعَلِّمَنَاHe teaches usإِيَّاهَاitوَقَدْand indeedقَالَsaidاللَّهُAllahتَعَالَىthe ExaltedإِنَّنِيIndeed Iمَعَكُمَاwith you bothأَسْمَعُI hearوَأَرَىand see
Being All-knowing of Himself, it is permissible that He teaches us of it; and indeed Allah the Exalted has said, 'Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and see.'
فَأَخْبَرَSo He informedأَنَّهُthat Heسَمِعَheardكَلَامَهَاher wordsوَرَآهَاand saw herوَمَنْAnd whoeverزَعَمَclaimsأَنْthatاللَّهَAllahعَزَّthe Mightyوَجَلَّand Sublimeلَاnotيَرَىseeسَمِعَتْheardالْقَالُونَthe speakers
So He informed that He heard her words and saw her; and whoever claims that Allah the Mighty and Sublime does not see will not hear the speakers.
