The Quran is created; indeed, He made it a saying for mankind, and this is what Allah denied the polytheists. Also, if Allah had not been the Speaking One until He created the creation and then spoke, the things would have been by His command and not by His saying, nor would He have said to them: 'Be!' And this is the refutation of the Quran and the departure from what the majority of the people of Islam hold.

Section. And know, may Allah have mercy on you, that the statement of the Jahmiyyah: that the speech of Allah is created necessitates that Allah, the Almighty Glorified, has always been like the idols that do not speak nor talk if He had not been the Speaking One; because Allah, the Almighty Glorified, informs about Abraham, peace be upon him, that he said to his people when they said to him: who did this to our idols? He said: But this one did it, so ask them if they speak. So he argued against them that the idols, if they were not speaking nor talking, could not be gods; and when the idols that cannot be resurrected by Allah and lacks the ability to speak are not gods, then how is it permissible that someone who cannot speak in his eternity is a god? Exalted is Allah from that a great exaltation.
