وَجْهُfaceرَبِّكَyour Lord**فَكَمَاSo just asلَاnotيَجُوزُpermittedأَنْthatيَكُونَit isوَجْهٌfaceرَبَّنَاour Lordمَخْلُوقًاcreatedفَكَذَٰلِكَso likewiseلَاnotيَكُونُit isأَسْمَاؤُهُHis namesمَخْلُوقَةٌcreatedدَلِيلٌevidenceآخَرُanotherوَقَدْand indeedقَالَsaidاللَّهُAllahعَزَّGloryوَجَلَّand ExaltedشَهِدَtestifiedاللَّهُAllahأَنَّهُthat He isلَاnoإِلَٰهَgodإِلَّاexceptهُوَHeوَالْمَلَائِكَةُand the angelsوَأُولُوand the possessor ofالْعِلْمِknowledgeقَائِمًاstandingبِالْقِسْطِwith justice**وَلَاand notبِدٌّmustأَنْtoيَكُونَit isشَهِدَwitnessedبِهَذِهِby thisالشَّهَادَةِtestimonyوَسَمِعَهَاand he heard itمِنْfromنَفْسِهِhimselfلَأَنَّهُbecause heإِنْifكَانَhadسَمِعَهَاheard itمِنْfromمَخْلُوقٍcreated beingفَلَيَسْتَit is notشَهَادَةًtestimonyلَهُfor himوَإِذَاand ifكَانَتْit wasشَهَادَةًtestimonyلَهُfor himوَقَدْand hasشَهِدَwitnessedبِهَاwith itفَلَاso notيَخْلُوis devoidأَنْthatيَكُونَit isشَهِدَwitnessedبِهَاwith itقَبْلَbeforeكَوْنٍthe existenceالْمَخْلُوقَاتِof creaturesأَوْorبَعْدَafterكَوْنٍthe existenceالْمَخْلُوقَاتِof creaturesفَإِنْthenكَانَتْit wasشَهِدَwitnessedبِهَاwith itبَعْدَafterكَوْنٍthe creationالْمَخْلُوقَاتِcreaturesفَلَمْthen it did notتَتَّسِقَalignشَهَادَتُهُhis testimonyلِنَفْسِهِfor himselfبِالْإِلَٰهِيةِto the divinityالْخَلْقِof creationوَكَيْفَand howيَكُونُit beذَٰلِكَthatكَذَٰلِكَso likewiseوَهَذَاand thisيَجِبُmustأَنْthatالتَّوْحِيدُmonotheismلَمْnotيَكُنْbeفَشَهِدَand he witnessedبِهِwith itشَاهِدًاa witnessقَبْلَbeforeالْخَلْقِthe creationوَلَوْeven ifاسْتَحَالَتit became impossibleالشَّهَادَةُthe testimonyبِالْوَحْدَانِيَّةِof the onenessقَبْلَbeforeكَوْنٍthe creationالْخَلْقُthe creaturesلَاسْتَحَالَةِit became impossibleإِثْبَاتِthe affirmationالتَّوْحِيدِof monotheismوَوُجُودِهِand its existenceوَأَنْand thatيَكُونَit isوَاحِدًاoneقَبْلَbeforeالْخَلْقِthe creationلَأَنَّbecauseمَاwhatتَسْتَحِيلُbe impossibleالشَّهَادَةُthe testimonyعَلَيْهِupon himفَمُسْتَحِيلٌso impossibleوَإِنْand ifكَانَتْit wasشَهَادَتُهُhis testimonyلِنَفْسِهِfor himselfبِالْوَحْدَانِيَّةِof onenessقَبْلَbeforeالْخَلْقِthe creationفَقَدْthen it hasبَطَلَinvalidatedأَنْthatيَكُونَit isكَلَامًاspeechاللَّهُof AllahعَزَّGloryوَجَلَّand ExaltedمَخْلُوقًاcreatedلَأَنَّbecauseكَلَامَهُHis speechشَهَادَتُهُis his testimony(دَلِيلٌ(another evidence(آخَرَ)(other)وَمِمَّاand from whatيَدُلُّindicatesعَلَىonبَطْلَانِthe invalidationقَوْلِsayingالْجَحْمِيَّةِof the Jahmiyaوَإِنَّand thatالْقُرْآنَthe Quranكَلَامٌspeechاللَّهِof AllahغَيْرَnotمَخْلُوقٌcreatedإِنَّIndeedأَسْمَاءَthe namesاللَّهِof Allahمِنْfromالْقُرْآنِthe Quranوَقَدْand hasقَالَsaidعَزَّGloryوَجَلَّand ExaltedسُبْحَانَGloryاسْمُthe nameرَبِّكَof your Lordالْأَعْلَىthe Most Highالَّذِيwhoخَلَقَcreatedفَسَوَّىand balanced
Your Lord’s face cannot be a created thing, likewise His names cannot be created. Another proof is the saying of Allah, the Exalted: "Allah witnesses that there is no god but He, and the angels and those of knowledge, establishing justice. It must be that He witnessed this testimony and heard it from Himself, for if He heard it from a created being, it would not be a testimony for him. If it was a testimony for him and he has testified to it, then he must have done so either before the existence of creatures or after the existence of creatures. If he testified after the existence of creatures, his testimony for his own divinity would be inconsistent with the creation. How could this be so, and this necessitates that the unity was not there? He witnessed before creation, and if it were impossible to testify to oneness before creation, establishing the unity and its existence as one before creation would be impossible, because what cannot be testified to is impossible. If his testimony for himself in oneness was before creation, then it invalidates that the speech of Allah is created, as His speech is his testimony (another proof) and from what indicates the invalidation of the saying of the Jahmiyya is that the Quran is the speech of Allah, uncreated. The names of Allah are from the Quran, and He, the Exalted, said: "Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High, who created and fashioned."
وَلَاand notيَجُوزُpermittedأَنْthatيَكُونَit isاسْمٌnameرَبِّكَyour Lordإِلَّاexceptعَلَىonالَّذِيthatخَلَقَcreatedفَسَوَّىand fashioned
And it is not permissible for the name of your Lord to be upon other than that which created and fashioned.
