الظَّالِمُونَThe oppressorsعَلَوْاhave risenكَبِيرًاgreatly
The oppressors have risen greatly.
فَلَمْSo they did notيُثْبِتُواaffirmلَهُمْfor themفِيinوَصْفِهِمْtheir descriptionحَقيقةٌthe truthوَلَاnorأَوْجَبُواthey establishedلَهُمْfor themالَّذِينَthose whoيُثْبِتُونَaffirmلَهُfor Himبِذِكْرِهِمْby mentioning themإِيَّاهُHimوَحْدَانِيَّةًOnenessإِذْsinceكُلَّallكَلَامِهِمْtheir wordsيُؤَوِّلُendsإِلَىtoالتَّعْطِيلِdeprivationوَجَمِيعَAnd allأَوْصَافِهِمْtheir descriptionsتَدُلُّindicateعَلَىonالنَّفْيِnegation
So they did not affirm for them in their description the truth, nor did they establish for them those who affirm for Him by mentioning Him the Oneness, since all their words end up in deprivation, and all their descriptions indicate negation.
تُرِيدُونَYou wantبِذَٰلِكَwith thatزَعَمُواthey claimedالتَّنْزِيهَexaltationوَالنَّفْيَand negationالتَّشْبِيهِof resemblanceفَنَعُوذُSo we seek refugeبِاللَّهِin Allahمِنْfromتَنزيهٍexaltationيُوْجِبُthat necessitatesالنَّفْيَthe negationأَوْorالتَّعْطِيلِdeprivation
You want with that, they claimed, exaltation and negation of resemblance; so we seek refuge in Allah from an exaltation that necessitates negation or deprivation.
دَلِيلٌevidenceآخَرُotherقَالَsaidاللَّهُAllahعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Exalted and GlorifiedاللَّهُAllahنُورُLightالسَّمَاوَاتِthe heavensوَالأَرْضِand the earth
Another evidence: Allah, the Exalted and Glorified, said: "Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth."
فَسَمَّىSo He namedنَفْسَهُHimselfنُورًاa LightوَالنُّورُAnd the Lightعِندَwithالأُمَّةِthe communityلَاdoes notيَخْلُوlackمِنْfromأَنْto beيَكُونَis eitherنُورًاa Lightيُسْمَعُthat is heardأَوْorنُورًاa Lightيُرَىthat is seen
So He named Himself a Light, and the Light, in the context of the community, does not lack being either a Light that is heard, or a Light that is seen.
فَمَنSo whoeverزَعَمَclaimsأَنْthatاللَّهَAllahيَسْمَعُhearsفِيinنَفْيِهِhis negationرُؤْيَةَof seeingرَبِّهِhis Lordوَتَكْذِيبِهِand his denialوَلَاand does notيَرَىseeفَقَدْhas certainlyأَخْطَأَerredبِكِتَابِهِin his bookوَقَوْلِand the sayingنَبِيِّهِof His Prophetصَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَmay peace be upon him
So whoever claims that Allah hears while denying the seeing of his Lord and does not see, has certainly erred in his book and the saying of His Prophet, may peace be upon him.
وَرُوِيَتْAnd it has been narratedالعُلَمَاءُthe scholarsعَنْaboutعَبْدِ اللَّهِAbdullahابنِ ibnعَبَّاسٍAbbasأَنَّهُthat heقَالَsaidتَفَكَّرُواReflectفِيinخَلْقِCreationاللَّهِAllahعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Exalted and Glorifiedوَلَاand do notتَفَكُّرُواreflectفِيinاللَّهِAllahعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Exalted and Glorifiedفَإِنَّfor verilyبَيْنَbetweenكُرْسِيِّهِHis throneإِلَىtoالسَّمَاءِthe heavenأَلْفَa thousandسَنَةٍyearsوَاللَّهُand Allahعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Exalted and Glorifiedفَوْقَaboveذَٰلِكَthat
And it has been narrated by the scholars from Abdullah ibn Abbas that he said: "Reflect on the creation of Allah, the Exalted and Glorified, and do not reflect on Allah, the Exalted and Glorified; for verily between His throne and the heaven is a thousand years, and Allah, the Exalted and Glorified, is above that."
(دَلِيلٌ(Evidenceآخَرُanother))وَرُوِيَتْAnd it has been narratedالعُلَمَاءُthe scholarsعَنْfromالنَّبِيِّthe Prophetصَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَmay peace be upon himأَنَّهُthat heقَالَsaidإِنَّIndeedالْعَبْدَthe servantلَاdoes notتَزُولُmove awayقَدَمَاهُhis feetمِنْfromبَيْنَbetweenيَدَيَّMy handsاللَّهِAllahعَزَّ وَجَلَّthe Exalted and Glorified
(Another evidence) The scholars narrated from the Prophet, may peace be upon him, that he said: "Indeed the servant does not move away his feet from between the hands of Allah, the Exalted and Glorified."
وَرُوِيَتْAnd it has been narratedالعُلَمَاءُthe scholarsأَنَّthatرَجُلًاa manأَتَىcameالنَّبِيَّthe Prophetصَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَmay peace be upon himبِأُمَّةٍwith a black servant womanسُودَاءَblackفَقَالَhe saidيَاOرَسُولَMessengerاللَّهِof Allahإِنِّيindeed Iأُرِيدُwantأَنْtoأُعَتِّقَهَاfree herفِيinكَفَّارَةٍexpiationفَهَلْSo is itيَجُوزُpermissibleعِتَاقُهَاto free herفَقَالَSo he saidلَهَاto herالنَّبِيُّthe Prophetصَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَmay peace be upon himأَيْنَWhereاللَّهُAllahحَتَّىuntilيَسْأَلَهُhe asks HimعَنْaboutعِلْمِهِHis knowledge
And it has been narrated by the scholars that a man came to the Prophet, may peace be upon him, with a black servant woman and said: "O Messenger of Allah, indeed I want to free her in expiation. Is it permissible to free her?" So the Prophet, may peace be upon him, said to her: "Where is Allah, that you may ask Him about His knowledge?"
