Upon him be peace, he is Ham, son of Haim, son of Qais, son of Iblis. And he taught him Surah Al-Waqi'a, Al-Mursalat, and 'About What Are They Questioning,' and 'When the Sun is Folded,' and 'Say, O Disbelievers,' and Al-Ikhlas, and the two Mu'awwidhatayn. For he is specific among the group of devils. As for humans and jinn, they were created on the fitrah. Then they differed in the interpretation of the fitrah, the Mu'tazilites said it is Islam. And about this, that the disbeliever, by his disbelief, has cast Islam behind his back by his action without the will of Allah. And the speech has passed regarding the will. And the people of Sunnah and the community said that the fitrah is as Allah, the Exalted, said, 'The fitrah of Allah which He created the people upon.' And said, 'Praise be to Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth,' the verse, meaning its Creator. And the saying of the Prophet upon him be peace, 'Every newborn is born on the fitrah except that his parents make him a Jew, or a Christian, or a Magian until his tongue expresses it, either grateful or disbeliever, either in truth or in falsehood. If he were left on the creation he was born upon, he would have used it as evidence against his Creator. Except that his parents make him a Jew, or a Christian, or a Magian, that is, they become a cause for Judaism and Christianity as Allah, the Exalted, said regarding the idols: 'Indeed, they have misled many of the people,' meaning they have become a cause for misguidance. So when humans and jinn were created in the condition of Islam, not in the condition of disbelief.
