لَاnoمَدْخَلٌentryلِلشَّكِfor doubtفِيinالإِيمَانِfaith
There is no entry for doubt in faith.
حَقًّاtruly
Truly.
فَكَذَلِكَlikewise
Likewise.
وَيَأْتِيand comesالدَّلِيلُthe evidenceمِنَfromالْقُرْآنِthe Quranقَالَsaidوَلَيْسَand there is notفِيinالإِيمَانِfaithشَكٌّdoubtكَمَاasأَنَّthatلَيْسَnotفِيinالْكُفْرِdisbeliefشَكٌّdoubtلِقَوْلِهِfor His sayingتَعَالَىexalted be He
And the evidence comes from the Quran, saying that there is no doubt in faith just as there is no doubt in disbelief, for His saying, exalted be He.
أُولَـٰئِكَThoseهُمْareالْمُؤْمِنُونَthe believersأُولَـٰئِكَThoseهُمْareالْكَافِرُونَthe disbelieversحَقًّاtruly
Those are the believers. Those are the disbelievers, truly.
أَقُولُI sayقَالَsaidأَهْلُthe people ofالسُّنَّةِthe Sunnahوَالجَمَاعَةِand the communityإِذَاwhenأَتَىcameبِالإِيمَانِwith faithيَقُولُhe saysأَنَاI amمُؤْمِنٌa believerحَقًّاtrulyمِنْwithoutغَيْرِother thanشَكٍّdoubtوَلَاand notيَقُولُsayأَنَاI amمُؤْمِنٌbelieverإِنْifشَاءَwillsاللهُGodكَذَاthusفِيinبَحْرِthe seaالكَلَامِof speech
I say: The people of the Sunnah and the community said that when one comes with faith, he says, 'I am truly a believer without doubt,' and he does not say, 'I am a believer if God wills,' thus in the sea of speech.
فِيهِIn itأَيْضًاalsoأَنَّthatالْإِسْتِثْنَاءَthe exceptionيَرْفَعُabrogatesجَمِيعَallالْعُقُودِcontractsنَحْوَlikeالطَّلَاقِdivorceوَالْعَتَاقِand emancipationيَرْفَعُabrogatesعَقْدَcontractالإِيمَانِfaithوَتَمَامَهُand its completenessهُنَاكَthere
It also mentions that the exception abrogates all contracts, like divorce and emancipation; it abrogates the contract of faith and its completeness there.
وَفِيAnd inبَعْضِsomeالْكُتُبِbooksلَوْifقَالَsaidالْمُؤْمِنُthe believerلَأَكُونَنَّI would beمُؤْمِنًاa believerغَدًاtomorrowإِنْifشَاءَwillsاللَّهُGodتَعَالَىexalted be HeأَوْorأَمُوتُI dieمُؤْمِنًاa believerإِنْifشَاءَwillsاللَّهُGodتَعَالَىexalted be HeأَوْorيَكُونُI haveإِيمَانِيmy faithمَقْبُولًاacceptedإِنْifشَاءَwillsاللَّهُGodتَعَالَىexalted be Heيَكُونُit would beمُسْتَحْسَنًاcommendable
And in some books: If the believer says, 'I would be a believer tomorrow if God wills,' or 'I die a believer if God wills,' or 'My faith is accepted if God wills,' it is commendable, for this exception is about perseverance and acceptance, not about the essence of faith.
وَذُكِرَAnd it mentionedفِيinالدُّرَّةِthe pearlالْمُنِيفَةِthe preciousفِي-deنِيَّةِintentionالصَّوْمِof fastingلَاnoيُبْطِلُinvalidatesالنِّيَّةَthe intentionلَفْظٌthe wordإِنْifشَاءَwillsاللَّهُGod
And it is mentioned in 'the precious pearl' that the word 'if God wills' does not invalidate the intention of fasting.
وَفِيAnd inشَرْحِهَاits explanationلَأَنَّbecauseالإِسْتِثْنَاءُthe exceptionهَذَاthisلَيْسَis notعَلَىinحَقِيقَةٍtruthوَإِنَّمَاbut ratherهُوَit isلِلِاسْتِعَانَةِfor seeking helpوَطَلَبِand requestingالتَّوْفِيقِsuccessمِنَfromاللَّهِAllahتَعَالَىexalted be Heفَلَاso let notمُبْطِلًاinvalidatesيَحْصُرُlessenلِلنِّيَّةِfor the intentionبِخِلَافِunlikeالطَّلَاقِthe divorceوَالْعِتَاقِand emancipationوَنَحْوِهِand similarوَتَمَامَهُand its completenessهُنَاكَthere
And in its explanation, it is stated that the exception is not in truth but it is for seeking help and requesting success from God, exalted be He, so let not the exception invalidate the intention unlike divorce and emancipation and similar cases; its completeness is there.
وَالْحَاصِلُAnd the resultأَنَّis thatالْمُؤْمِنُthe believerإِذَاifقَالَhe saysأَنَاI amمُؤْمِنٌa believerحَقًّاtrulyيَكُونُhe isمُصِيبًاcorrectبِالْاتِّفَاقِby agreementوَإِنْand ifقَالَhe saysأَنَاI amمُؤْمِنٌa believerإِنْifشَاءَwillsاللَّهُGodفَإِنَّthenقَصَدَhe intendedالتَّلْقِيمِthe suspensionبِالشِّئَةِwith willفِيinالْحَالِthe caseكَانَit wasمُصِيبًاcorrectبِالْاتِّفَاقِby agreementوَإِنْand ifقَالَhe saysأَنَاI amمُؤْمِنٌa believerإِنْifشَاءَwillsاللَّهُGod
And the result is that if the believer says, 'I am truly a believer,' he is correct by agreement. And if he says, 'I am a believer if God wills,' then if he intends the suspension with will in the case, he is correct by agreement.
