أَنْthatيَسْجُدَهَاhe prostrates itلِآدَمَto Adamفَأَبَىٰهَاbut he refused itفَهَلso doesجَحَدَdenyإِبْلِيسُIblisرَبَّهُhis Lordوَهُوَwhile heيَقُولُsaysرَبِّO Lordبِمَاfor whatأَغْوَيْتَنِيYou caused me to err؟!?!
That he prostrates to Adam, but he refused it. So did Iblis deny his Lord while he says: O Lord, for what You caused me to err?!
وَيَقُولُAnd he saysرَبِّO Lordفَأَنظِرْنِيthen grant me respiteإِلَىuntilيَوْمِthe dayيُبْعَثُونَthey will be resurrected))إِيمَانًاfaithمِنْهُfrom himبِالْبَعْثِin resurrection,,وَإِيمَانًاand faithبِنَفَاذِin enforcementقُدْرَتِهِHis powerفِيtoإِنْظَارِهِlet him waitإِيَّاهُhim untilإِلَىtoيَوْمٍdayيُبْعَثُونَthey will be resurrected،,أَوَهَلor didجَحَدَdenyأَحَدٌany ofأَنْبِيَائِهِHis Prophets،,أَوorأَنْكَرَdenyشَيْئًاanythingمِنْofسُلْطَانِهِHis dominionوَهُوَwhile heيَحْلِفُswearsبِعِزَّتِهِby His might؟?
And he says: O Lord, then grant me respite until the day they will be resurrected, which is an indication of his belief in resurrection and his belief in the enforcement of His power to let him wait until the day they will be resurrected. Or did he deny any of His Prophets, or deny anything of His dominion while he swears by His might?
وَهَلAnd doesكَانَit wasكُفْرُهُhis disbeliefإِلَّاexceptبِتَرْكِby leavingسَجْدَةٍone prostrationوَاحِدَةٍoneأَمْرٌcommandedبِهَاitفَأَبَىٰهَاbut he refused it؟?
And was his disbelief except by leaving one prostration he was commanded to do, and he refused it?
قَالَHe said::وَاسْتَدَلُّواThey also citedأَيْضًاalsoبِمَاby whatقَصَّGod narratesاللَّهُAllahمِنْofنَبَإٍthe storyابْنَيْof the two sonsآدَمَof Adam::إِذْWhenقَرَّبَاthey offeredقُرْبَانًاa sacrificeفَتُقُتِلَand one was killedمِنْfromأَحَدِهِmَاthe twoوَلَمْand it was notيُنَقَّبِلْacceptedمِنَfrom the otherالْآخَرِone,,قَالَhe saidلَأَقْتُلَنَّكَI will surely kill you,,قَالَhe saidإِنَّمَاindeedيَتَقَبَّلُacceptsاللَّهُAllahمِنَfromالْمُتَّقِينَthe righteous
He said: They also cited what Allah narrates of the story of the two sons of Adam: When they offered a sacrifice, one was accepted from one of them and it was not accepted from the other. One said: I will surely kill you; the other said: Indeed, Allah accepts from the righteous.
لَنI will notبَسَطَتَextendإِلَىtoيَدَكَyour handلِتَقْتُلَنِيto kill meمَاwhatأَنَاI am notبِبَاسِطِextendingيَدِيmy handإِلَيْكَto youلِأَقْتُلَكَto kill youإِنِّيindeed IأَخَافُfearاللَّهَAllahرَبِّthe Lordالْعَالَمِينَof the worldsإِنِّيindeed Iأُرِيدُwantأَنْthatتَحْمِلَyou bearبِإِثْمِيmy sinوَإِثْمَكَand your sinفَتَكُونَso that you becomeمِنْofأَصْحَابِcompanionsالنَّارِof the Fireوَذَٰلِكَand thatجَزَاءُis the reward ofالظَّالمِينَthe wrongdoers
I will not extend my hand to you to kill you. Indeed, I fear Allah, the Lord of the worlds. Indeed, I want that you bear my sin and your sin, so that you become among the companions of the Fire, and that is the reward of the wrongdoers.
فَطَوَّعَتْThen his soul justifiedلَهُto himنَفْسُهُhis soulقَتْلَkillingأَخِيهِhis brotherفَقَتَلَهُso he killed himفَأَصْبَحَand he becameمِنَamongالظَّالمِينَthe wrongdoers
Then his soul justified to him the killing of his brother, so he killed him, and he became among the wrongdoers.
قَالُواThey said::وَهَلAnd doesجَحَدَdenyرَبَّهُhis Lord?؟?وَكَيْفَAnd howيَجْحَدُهُcould he deny Himوَهُوَwhile heيُقَدِّمُoffersلَهُto Himالْقُرْبَانَthe sacrifice?,,قَالُواThey saidقَالَAllah saidتَعَالَىthe Exalted:إِنَّمَاIndeedيُؤْمِنُbelievesبِآيَاتِنَاin our signsالَّذِينَthose whoإِذَاwhenذُكِرُواthey are mentionedبِهَاwith themخَرُّواthey fallسُجَّدًاprostratingوَسَبِّحُواand glorifyبِحَمْدِwith the praise ofرَبِّهِمtheir Lordوَهُمْand theyلَاdo notيَسْتَكْبِرُونَbecome arrogant
They said: And does he deny his Lord? And how could he deny Him while he offers to Him the sacrifice? They said: Allah said the Exalted: Indeed, those who believe in our signs are those who, when they are mentioned with them, fall prostrating and glorify with the praise of their Lord, and they do not become arrogant.
وَلَمْAnd did notيَقُلْsay::إِذَاwhenذُكِرُواthey were mentionedبِهَاwith themأَقَرُّواthey affirmبِهَاwith them.فَقَطonly,,وَقَالَAnd he saidالَّذِينَthose whoءَاتَيْنَاهُمُWe have given themالْكِتَابَthe bookيَتْلُونَهُthey recite itحَقَّthe rightتِلَاوَتِهِof its recitation.أُوْلَـٰئِكَThoseيُؤْمِنُونَbelieveبِهِin it
And He did not say: when they are mentioned with them, they affirm with them. Only, and he said: Those whom We have given the Book, they recite it the right of its recitation. Those believe in it.
يَعْنِيIt means::يَتَّبِعُونَهُthey follow itحَقًّاcorrectlyاتِّبَاعَهُfollowing it.
It means: they follow it correctly.
فَإِنIfقِيلَit was said::فَهَلSo is itمَعَwithمَاwhatذَكَرْتَyou mentionedمِنْofسُنَّةٍthe established traditionثَابِتَةٍauthenticتَبَيَّنَclarifyأَنَّthatالْعَمَلَactionدَاخِلٌis includedفِيinالإِيمَانِfaithبِاللَّهِin Allahوَمَلَائِكَتِهِand His angelsوَكُتُبِهِand His booksوَرُسُلِهِand His messengers
If it was said: So is it with what you mentioned of an established and authentic tradition clarifying that action is included in faith in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers?
قِيلَIt was said::نَعَمYesعَامَّةُmostالسُّنَنِof the traditionsوَالْآثَارِand reportsتَنْطِقُspeakبِذَٰلِكَto that,,مِنْهَاamong themحَدِيثُthe Hadithوَفْدِof the delegationعَبْدِAbdulالْقَيْسِQais,,وَذُكِرَand mentionedحَدِيثُthe Hadithشُعْبَةَof Shubhaوَقُرَةَand Quraبْنِson ofخَالِدٍKhalidعَنْfromأَبِيAbuجَمْرَةَJamrahعَنْfromابْنِthe sonعَبَّاسٍAbbasكَماasتَقَدَّمَpreviously,,وَلَفْظُهُand the wording is::آمُرُكُمْI command youبِالْإِيمَانِto believeبِاللَّهِin Allahوَحْدَهُalone.
It was said: Yes, most of the traditions and reports speak to that, among them the Hadith of the delegation of Abdul Qais, and mentioned the Hadith of Shubha and Qura son of Khalid from Abu Jamrah from Ibn Abbas as previously stated, and the wording is: "I command you to believe in Allah alone."
ثُمَّThenقَالُواthey said::هَلDoتَدْرُونَyou knowمَاwhatالإِيمَانُfaithبِاللَّهِin Allahوَحْدَهُalone؟
Then they said: Do you know what faith in Allah alone is?
قَالُواThey said::اللَّهُGodوَرَسُولُهُand His Messengerأَعْلَمُknows better.قَالَHe said::شَهَادَةٌThe testimonyأَنْthatلَاthere is noإِلَٰهَdeityإِلَّاexceptاللَّهُAllahوَأَنَّand thatمُحَمَّدًاMuhammadرَسُولُis the Messengerاللَّهِof Allah,,وَإِقَامُand establishmentالصَّلَاةِof prayer,,وَإِيتَاءِand givingالزَّكَاةِthe almsgiving,,وَصَوْمِand fastingرَمَضَانَof Ramadan,,وَأَنَّand thatتُعْطُواyou giveخُمْسَone-fifthمِمَّاof whatغَنِمْتُمْyou have gained.
They said: Allah and His Messenger know better. He said: The testimony that there is no deity except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and the establishment of prayer, and giving of almsgiving, and fasting of Ramadan, and that you give one-fifth of what you have gained.
وَذَكَرَAnd he mentionedأَحَادِيثٍHadithsكَثِيرَةٍmanyتُوجِبُobligateدُخُولَthe entry ofالأَعْمَالِactionsفِيintoالإِيمَانِfaithمِثْلَlikeقَوْلِهِhis sayingفِيinحَدِيثِthe Hadith[أَبِيAbuذَرٍ]Dharrلَمَّاwhenسُئِلَhe was askedعَنْaboutالإِيمَانِ,فَقَرَأَhe recitedلَيْسَThere is notالْبِرَّrighteousnessأَنْthatتُوَلُّواyou turnوُجُوهَكُمْyour facesقِبَلَtowardsالْمَشْرِقِthe eastوَالْمَغْرِبِand the west,,وَلَكِنَّbutالْبِرَّrighteousnessمَنْis whoeverآمَنَbelievesبِاللَّهِin Allahوَالْيَوْمِand the Last Dayالْآخِرِand the angels,,وَالْمَلَائِكَةِand the books,,وَالْكُتُبِand the prophets.
And he mentioned many Hadiths that obligate the entry of actions into faith, like his saying in the Hadith of Abu Dharr when he was asked about faith, he recited: There is no righteousness that you turn your faces towards the east and the west, but righteousness is in whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day and the angels and the books and the prophets.
