He returned to him, and by such news, and by what was narrated about Al-Hasan and Muhammad bin Sirrin that they both used to say Muslim and they revered him, a believer, and they argued by the saying of Abu Jaafar who narrated to us that Ishaq bin Ibrahim informed us that Wahb bin Jareer bin Hazim narrated to me from my father about Fudail bin Yasar about Abu Jaafar Muhammad bin Ali that he was asked about the saying of the Prophet ﷺ: "The adulterer does not commit adultery while he is a believer." So Abu Jaafar said: This is Islam and the location of circulation is wide, and this is faith and the location of circulation is small in the middle of the large. So if he commits adultery or steals, he exits from faith to Islam and it does not remove him from Islam to disbelief in Allah.

And they argued by what was narrated about the Prophet ﷺ who said: "The people embraced Islam and Amr bin Al-Aas believed." He told us about Uqbah bin Mas’ud that Yahya bin Yahya narrated to us from Ibn Lahi’a about Musharh bin Amir Al-Juhani, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "The people embraced Islam and Amr bin Al-Aas believed."

And it was mentioned about Hammad bin Zaid that he was differentiating between faith and Islam, so he made faith specific and Islam general. He said: So we have an example in these and they are a model, along with what establishes that from consideration, and that Allah made the name of a believer a name of praise, commendation, and tribute, upon which He obliged Paradise upon him. So He said: "And He was merciful to the believers; their greeting on the day they meet Him will be: and He prepared for them a noble reward." (Al-Ahzab)
