فَضْلًاgraceكَبِيرًاgreat
Great grace.
وَقَالَAnd said::﴿[وَبَشِّرِAnd give good tidings toالَّذِينَthose whoآمَنُواbelievedأَنَّthatلَهُمْfor themقَدَمَa footstepصِدْقٍof truthعِندَwithرَحْمَةٍ(Mercy).﴾]
And said: "And give good tidings to those who believed that for them is a footstep of truth with (Mercy)."
وَقَالَAnd said::﴿[يَوْمَThe dayتَرَىyou seeالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersوَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِand the believing womenيَسْعَىis shiningنُورُهُمtheir lightبَيْنَbetweenأَيْدِيهِمْtheir handsوَبِأَيْمَانِهِمand on their right
And said: "The day you see the believers and the believing women, their light is shining between their hands and on their right."
قَالَHe said::اللَّهُAllahوَلِيُّis the ally ofالَّذِينَthose whoآمَنُواbelievedيُخْرِجُهُمHe brings them outمِّنَfromالظُّلُمَاتِthe darknessesإِلَىtoالنُّورِthe light
He said: "Allah is the ally of those who believed. He brings them out from the darknesses to the light."
﴿[الْبَقَرَةُAl-Baqarah ::٢٥٧257﴾]
"[Al-Baqarah: 257]"
وَقَالَAnd said::﴿[وَبَشِّرِAnd give good tidings toالَّذِينَthose whoآمَنُواbelievedوَandعَمِلُواdidالصَّالِحَاتِrighteous deedsأَنَّthatلَهُمْfor themجَنَّاتٍGardensتَجْرِيunder which flowsمِنfromتَحْتِهَاbeneath itالْأَنْهَارُrivers﴾]
And said: "And give good tidings to those who believed and did righteous deeds that for them are gardens under which rivers flow."
قَالَHe said::ثُمَّThenأَوْجَبَHe made obligatoryاللَّهُAllahالنَّارَthe hellfireعَلَىonالْكَبَائِرِthe major sins,,فَدَلَّand showedبِذَلِكَby thatعَلَىthatأَنَّthe nameالإِيمَانِof faithزَائِلٌis removedعَمَّنfrom whomأَتَىcameكَبِيرَةًa major sin
He said: "Then Allah made obligatory the hellfire on the major sins, and showed by that that the name of faith is removed from whom came a major sin."
قَالُواThey said::وَلَمْand notنَجِدْwe findأَوْجَبَthat He made obligatoryالْجَنَّةَthe paradiseبِاسْمِin the name ofالإِسْلَامِIslam,,فَثَبَتَso it is establishedأَنَّthatاسْمَthe nameالإِسْلَامِIslamلَهُhasثَابِتٌestablishedعَلَىonحَالِهِits stateوَandاسْمُthe nameالإِيمَانِof faithزَائِلٌis removedعَنْهُfrom it
They said: "And we do not find that He made obligatory the paradise in the name of Islam, so it is established that the name of Islam is established on its state and the name of faith is removed from it."
فَإِنْIfقِيلَit is saidلَهُمْto themفِيinقَوْلِهِمtheir sayingهَذَاthisلَيْسَis notالإِيمَانُthe faithضِدٌّthe opposite ofالْكُفْرِdisbelief,,قَالُواthey saidالْكُفْرُdisbeliefضِدٌّis the opposite ofلِأَصْلِthe root ofالإِيمَانِfaith,,لِأَنَّbecauseلِلْإِيمَانِfor faithأَصْلٌthere is a rootوَandفُرُوعٌbranches,,فَلَاso it does notيَثْبُتَestablishالْكُفْرُdisbeliefحَتَّىuntilيَزُولَis removedأَصْلُthe rootالإِيمَانِof faithالَّذِيwhichهُوَisضِدٌّthe opposite ofالْكُفْرِdisbelief
If it is said to them in their saying this, "Faith is not the opposite of disbelief," they said: "Disbelief is the opposite of the root of faith, because faith has a root and branches, so disbelief does not establish until the root of faith, which is the opposite of disbelief, is removed."
فَإِنْIfقِيلَit is saidلَهُمْto them::فَالَّذِينَAs for thoseزَعَمْتُمْwhom you claimedأَنَّthatالنَّبِيَّthe Prophetﷺ(peace be upon him)أَزَالَremovedعَنْهُمْfrom themاسْمَthe nameالإِيمَانِfaithهَلis thereفِيin itمِنْanyالإِيمَانِfaithشَيْءٌsomething
If it is said to them: 'As for those whom you claimed that the Prophet (peace be upon him) removed from them the name of faith, is there in it any faith?"
قَالُواThey said:: نَعَمYesأَصْلُهُits rootثَابِتٌis establishedوَلَوْلَاand if notذَٰلِكَthatلَكَفَرُواthey would have disbelieved
They said: "Yes, its root is established, and if not that, they would have disbelieved."
أَلَمْDid notتَسْمَعْyou hearإِلَىtoابْنِthe son ofمَسْعُودٍMas'udأَنْكَرَwho rejectedعَلَىagainstالَّذِيthe one whoشَهِدَwitnessedأَنَّهُthat heمُؤْمِنٌis a believerثُمَّthenقَالَsaid::لَكِنَّاbut weنُؤْمِنُbelieveبِاللَّهِin AllahوَandمَلَائِكَتِهِHis angelsوَandكُتُبِهِHis booksوَرُسُلِهِand His messengers
Did you not hear of the son of Mas'ud who rejected the one who witnessed that he is a believer, then he said: 'But we believe in Allah, His angels, His books, and His messengers.'
يُخْبِرُكَHe informs youأَنَّهُthat itقَدْhasآمَنَbelievedمِنْfromجِهَةٍthe perspective ofأَنَّهُthat itصَدَقَis truthfulوَأَنَّهُand that heلَاdoes notيَسْتَحِقُّdeserveاسْمَthe nameالْمُؤْمِنِbelieverإِذَاifكَانَhe isيَعْلَمُawareأَنَّهُthat heمُقَصِّرٌis deficient
He informs you that he has believed from the perspective of being truthful, and that he does not deserve the name of believer if he is aware that he is deficient.
لَأَنَّهُBecauseلَاdoes notيَسْتَحِقُّdeserveهَذَاthisالِاسْمَnameعِندَهُin his viewإِلَّاexceptمِنْfromأَدَّىperformedمَاwhatوَجَبَis obligatoryعَلَيْهِon himوَانْتَهَىand ceasedعَمَّاfrom whatحَرَّمَhe forbadeعَلَيْهِon himمِنَfromالْمَوْجِبَاتِthe obligationsلِلْنَّارِto the hellfireالَّتِيwhichهِيَareالْكَبَائِرِthe major sins
Because he does not deserve this name in his view except from the one who has performed what is obligatory on him and ceased from what he forbade on him from the obligations to the hellfire, which are the major sins.
قَالُواThey said::فَلَمَّاSo whenأَبَانَHe clarifiedاللَّهُAllahأَنَّthatهَذَاthisالِاسْمَnameيَسْتَحِقُّهُis deserved byمِنْthe one whoقَدhasاسْتَحَقَّmeritedالْجَنَّةَparadise,,وَأَنَّand thatاللَّهَAllahقَدْhasأَوْجَبَmade obligatoryالْجَنَّةَparadiseعَلَيْهِon him
They said: "So when Allah clarified that this name is deserved by the one who has merited paradise, and that Allah has made obligatory paradise on him,"
وَعَلِمْنَاand we knowأَنَّاthat weقَدْhaveآمَنَّاbelievedوَصَدَقْنَاand we have been truthfulلِأَنَّهُbecauseلَاnotيَخْرُجُwill exitمِنَfromالتَّكْذِيبِdisbeliefإِلَّاexceptبِالتَّصْدِيقِby truthfulness,,وَلَسْنَاand we are notبِشَاكِّينَin doubtوَلَاand notمُكَذِّبِينَdisbelievers
And we know that we have believed and been truthful because we will not exit from disbelief except by truthfulness, and we are not in doubt nor disbelievers.
وَعَلِمْنَاAnd we knowأَنَّاthat weعَاصُونَare disobedientلَهُto Himمُسْتَوْجِبُونَand deserving ofلِلْعَذَابِthe punishmentوَهُوَand it isضِدُّthe opposite ofالثَّوَابِrewardالَّذِيthatحَكَمَruledاللَّهُAllahبِهِby itلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَfor the believersعَلَىonاسْمِthe nameالإِيمَانِfaith,,عَلِمْنَافَأَعْلَمَ إِنَّا
And we know that we are disobedient to Him and deserving of punishment, and it is the opposite of the reward which Allah has ruled for the believers upon the name of faith, so we know that we have believed and withheld from the name that Allah has established the ruling in paradise, and it is from Allah the name of praise and commendation, and He has forbidden us to praise ourselves and commanded us to fear for ourselves, and made obligatory for us the punishment by our disobedience, so we know that we are not deserving to be called believers.
