كَالشَّخْصَيْنِlike the two personsإِذَاifتَمَاثَلَاthey resembledفِيinإِيمَانِfaithالْقُلُوبِof the heartsمَعْرِفَةٍknowledgeوَتَصْدِيقًاand beliefوَحُبًّاand loveوَقُوَّةًand strengthوَحَالًّاand stateوَمَقَامًاand status
Like the two persons, if they resemble each other in the faith of the hearts, in knowledge, belief, love, strength, state, and status.
فَقَدْthenيَتَمَاثَلَانِthey may resembleوَإِنْeven ifكَانَone of them hadلِأَحَدِهِمَاfor one of themمِنْofأَعْمَالِthe actionsالْبَدَنِof the bodyمَاsomethingيُعْجِزُthat incapacitatesعَنْهُhimبَدَنَthe bodyالْآخَرِof the other
Then they may resemble each other, even if one of them has actions of the body that incapacitates the other.
كَمَاAsجَاءَwas saidفِيinالأَثَرِthe narrationإِنَّthatالْمُؤْمِنَthe believerقُوَّتَهُhis strengthفِيis inقَلْبِهِhis heartوَضُعْفَهُand his weaknessفِيis inجِسْمِهِhis bodyوَالْمُنافِقُand the hypocriteقُوَّتُهُhis strengthفِيis inجِسْمِهِhis bodyوَضُعْفَهُand his weaknessفِيis inقَلْبِهِhis heart
As was said in the narration: 'The strength of the believer is in his heart, and his weakness is in his body; and the strength of the hypocrite is in his body, and his weakness is in his heart.'
وَلِهَذَاAnd for this reasonقَالَthe Prophet ﷺ saidفِيinالْحَدِيثِthe authentic hadithالصَّحِيحِtrueلَيْسَis notالشَّدِيدُthe strong oneذَاthe one who hasالصَّرْعَةَthe ability to overpowerإِنَّمَاbutالشَّدِيدُthe strong oneالَّذِيwhoيَمْلُكُcontrolsنَفْسَهُhimselfعِندَatالْغَضَبِanger
And for this reason, the Prophet ﷺ said in the authentic hadith: 'The strong one is not the one who overpowers others, but the one who controls himself at the time of anger.'
وَقَدْAndقَالَhe saidرَأَيْتُI sawكَأَنِّيas if Iأَنْزِعُwas pullingعَلَىonقَلِيبٍa wellفَأَخَذَهَاthen he took itابْنُthe sonأَبِيof AbuقُحَافَةَQuhafaفَنَزَعَand pulledذُنُوبًاsome clayأوorذُنُوبَيْنِtwo piecesوَفِيand inنَزْعِهِhis pullingضَعْفٌthere was weaknessوَاللَّهُand Allahيَغْفِرُforgivesلَهُhimفَأَخَذَهَاthen he took itابْنُthe sonالْخَطَّابِof Al-Khattabفَاسْتَحَالَتand it changedفِيinيَدِهِhis handغَرَبًاto a strong forceفَلَمْand I did notأَرَseeعَبْقَرِيًّاa geniusيَفْرِيwho can cut throughفَرْيَهُlike his cuttingحَتَّىuntilصَدَرَthe peopleبِعَطْنٍin a strong position
And he said: 'I saw as if I was pulling from a well, then the son of Abu Quhafa took it and pulled some clay, or two pieces of clay; and in his pulling there was weakness, and Allah forgives him. Then the son of Al-Khattab took it and it changed in his hand into a strong force, and I did not see a genius who could cut through like his cutting until the people were in a strong position.'
فَذُكِرَSo it was mentionedأَنَّthatأَبَاAbuبَكْرٍBakrأَضْعَفَwas weakerوَسَوَاءًAnd whetherأَرَادَhe wantedقَصَرَto shortenمَدَّتَهُhis termأوorأَرَادَhe wantedضَعْفَهُhis weaknessعَنْcompared toمِثْلِthe strength ofقُوَّةِthe power ofعُمَرَOmarفَلَاthere is noرَيْبٌdoubtأَنَّthatأَبَاAbuبَكْرٍBakrأَقْوَىis strongerإِيمَانًاin faithمِنْthanعُمَرَOmarوَعُمَرُand Omarأَقْوَىis strongerعَمَلًاin actionمِنْهُthan himكَمَاasقَالَwas saidابْنُIbnمَسْعُودٍMas'udمَاnotزَلْنَاwe remainedأَعِزَّةًin honorمُنذُsinceأَسْلَمَOmar converted to IslamعُمَرُOmarوَقُوَّةُand the strength ofالإِيْمَانِthe faithأَقْوَىis strongerوَأَكْمَلُand more completeمِنْthanقُوَّةِthe strength ofالْعَمَلِthe actionsوَصَاحِبُand the possessor ofالإِيْمَانِfaithيُكْتَبُis recordedلَهُfor himأَجْرٌthe rewardعَمَلٍof actionsغَيْرِهِof othersوَمَاand whatفَعَلَهُhe didعُمَرُOmarفِيinسِيرَتِهِhis biographyمَكْتُوبٌis recordedمِثْلُهُthe same forلِأَبِيfor AbuبَكْرٍBakrفَإِنَّهُfor heهُوَis the oneالَّذِيwhoاِسْتَخْلَفَهُappointed him as successorمِنْfromوَجْهَيْنِtwo perspectives
It was mentioned that Abu Bakr was weaker, and whether he wanted to shorten his term or wanted his weakness compared to the strength of Omar, there is no doubt that Abu Bakr is stronger in faith than Omar, and Omar is stronger in action than him, as Ibn Mas'ud was said: 'We remained in honor since Omar converted to Islam.' And the strength of faith is stronger and more complete than the strength of actions, and the possessor of faith has the reward of the actions of others recorded for him; and what Omar did in his biography is recorded the same for Abu Bakr, for he is the one who appointed him as successor from two perspectives.
الْمُسْنَدُThe HadithوَفِيAnd inعَنْthe narration concerningالنَّبِيِّthe Prophet ﷺأَنَّthatالنَّبِيَّthe Prophet ﷺوَزَنَweighedبِالْأُمَّةِwith the nationفَرَجَّحَand it was heavierثُمَّThenوَزَنَhe weighedأَبَاAbuبَكْرٍBakrبِالْأُمَّةِwith the nationفَرَجَّحَand it was heavierثُمَّThenوَزَنَhe weighedعُمَرَOmarبِالْأُمَّةِwith the nationفَرَجَّحَand it was heavierوَكَانَand he wasفِيduringحَيَاةِthe lifeالنَّبِيِّof the Prophet ﷺوَبَعْدَand afterمَوْتِهِhis deathيَحْصُلُthere was obtainedلِعُمَرَfor Omarبِسَبَبِdue toأَبِيof AbuبَكْرٍBakrمِنَfromالإِيْمَانِfaithوَالْعِلْمِand knowledgeمَاwhatلَمْnotيَكُنْwasعِنْدَهُwith himفَهُوَso heقَدْhadدَعَاهُinvited himإِلَىtoمَاwhatفَعَلَهُhe didمِنَofخَيْرٍgoodوَأَعَانَهُand he helped himعَلَيْهِin itبِجُهْدِهِwith his effortوَالْمُعِينُand the one who helpsعَلَىwithالْفِعْلِactionإِذَاifكَانَhe wasيُرِيدُهُhe wanted itإِرَادَةًserious willجَازِمَةًdecisiveكَانَwasكَفَاعِلِهِlike the doerكَمَاasثَبَتَwas establishedفِيinالْحَدِيثِthe hadithالصَّحِيحِthe authentic
The Hadith says: 'And in the narration concerning the Prophet ﷺ, the Prophet weighed with the nation and it was heavier; then Abu Bakr weighed with the nation and it was heavier; then Omar weighed with the nation and it was heavier. And during the life of the Prophet ﷺ and after his death, for Omar was obtained from the faith and knowledge due to Abu Bakr that he did not have. So he invited him to what he did of good and helped him in it with his effort. And the helper in action, if he wants it with decisive will, is like the doer, as was established in the authentic hadith.'
