وَقَوْلُهُAnd His sayingوَإِنَّAnd indeedالَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُواbelievedوَعَمِلُواand didالصَّالِحَاتِrighteous deedsوَأَقَامُواand establishedالصَّلَوٰةَthe prayerوَءَاتَوُاand gaveالزَّكَاةَthe zakahلَهُمْfor themأَجْرُهُمْis their rewardعِندَwithرَبِّهِمْtheir Lordوَلَاand there is noخَوْفٌfearعَلَيْهِمْupon themوَلَاand norهُمْtheyيَحْزَنُونَwill grieve
And His saying: 'And indeed, those who believed and did righteous deeds and established the prayer and gave the zakah, for them is their reward with their Lord, and there is no fear upon them, nor will they grieve.'
وَطُوبَىٰAnd as for thoseالَّذِينَwhoءَامَنُواbelievedوَعَمِلُواand didالصَّالِحَاتِrighteous deedsفَيُوَفِّيهِمْHe will fulfill for themأُجُورَهُمْtheir rewardsوَيَزِيدُهُمْand He will increase themمِّنْfromفَضْلِهِHis bounty
And as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, He will fulfill for them their rewards and He will increase them from His bounty.
وَقَالَAnd He saidفَأَمَّاBut as forالَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُواbelievedبِاللَّهِin Allahوَاعْتَصَمُواand held fastبِهِto HimفَسَيُدْخِلُهُمْHe will admit themفِيintoرَحْمَةٍa mercyمِنْهُfrom Himوَفَضْلٍand a favorوَيَهْدِيهِمْand He will guide themإِلَيْهِto Himصِرَاطًاa pathمُسْتَقِيمًاstraight
And He said: 'But as for those who believed in Allah and held fast to Him, He will admit them into a mercy from Him and a favor, and He will guide them to Him on a straight path.'
وَقَالَAnd He saidوَالَّذِينَAnd those whoءَامَنُواbelievedوَعَمِلُواand didالصَّالِحَاتِrighteous deedsسَنُدْخِلُهُمْWe will surely admit themجَنَّاتٍinto gardensتَجْرِيbeneath whichمِنfromتَحْتِهَاunder themالْأَنْهَارُriversخَالِدِينَto dwell thereinفِيهَاforeverأَبَدًاeternallyلَهُمْfor themفِيهَاin itأَزْوَاجٌspousesمُطَهَّرَةٌpurifiedوَنُدْخِلُهُمْand We will admit themظِلًّاinto a shadeظَلِيلًاcool.
And He said: 'And those who believed and did righteous deeds, We will surely admit them into gardens beneath which rivers flow, to dwell therein forever. For them, there will be purified spouses, and We will admit them into a shade cool.'
وَفِيAnd inالْآيَةِthe verseالْأُخْرَىthe otherوَمَنْAnd whoأَصْدَقُis more truthfulمِنَthanاللَّهِAllahقِيلًاin speech.
And in the other verse: 'And who is more truthful than Allah in speech?'
وَقَالَAnd He saidوَأَمَّاAnd as forالَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُواbelievedوَعَمِلُواand didالصَّالِحَاتِrighteous deedsفَيُوَفِّيهِمْHe will fulfill for themأُجُورَهُمْtheir rewardsوَاللَّهُand Allahلَاdoes notيُحِبُّloveالظَّالِمِينَthe wrongdoers.
And He said: 'And as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, He will fulfill for them their rewards, and Allah does not love the wrongdoers.'
وَقَالَAnd He saidوَعَدَAllah has promisedاللَّهُAllahالَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُواbelievedوَعَمِلُواand didالصَّالِحَاتِthe righteous deedsلَهُمfor themمَّغْفِرَةٌis forgivenessوَأَجْرٌand a great reward.عَظِيمٌgreat.
And He said: 'Allah has promised those who believed and did righteous deeds that for them is forgiveness and a great reward.'
وَقَالَAnd He saidفَمَنْSo whoeverءَامَنَbelievesوَأَصْلَحَand does goodفَلَاthen noخَوْفٌfearعَلَيْهِمْupon themوَلَاand norهُمْtheyيَحْزَنُونَwill grieve.
And He said: 'So whoever believes and does good, then no fear will be upon them, nor will they grieve.'
وَقَالَAnd He saidوَالَّذِينَAnd those whoءَامَنُواْbelievedوَعَمِلُواand didالصَّالِحَاتِthe righteous deedsلَاdo notنُكَلِّفُWe imposeنَفْسًاupon a soulإِلَّاexceptوُسْعَهَاwithin its capacity.أُوْلَـٰئِكَThose areأَصْحَابُthe companions ofالْجَنَّةِthe Paradise.هُمْThey are.فِيهَاin it.خَالِدُونَto dwell therein forever.
And He said: 'And those who believed and did righteous deeds, We do not impose upon a soul except within its capacity. Those are the companions of the Paradise; they will dwell therein forever.'
وَالْآيَاتُAnd the versesفِيinهَذَاthisالْمَعْنَىmeaningكَثِيرَةٌare many.
And the verses in this meaning are many.
يُسَمَّىIt is namedفَالْوَعْدُFor the promiseبِالْجَنَّةِof Paradiseوَالرَّحْمَةِand mercyفِيinالْآخِرَةِthe Hereafterوَبِالسَّلاَمَةِand safetyمِنَfromالْعَذَابِthe punishment.مُعَلَّقٌIt is conditionalبِاسْمِupon the nameالإِيمَانِof faithالْمُطْلَقِabsoluteوَالْمُقَيَّدِand restrictedبِالْعَمَلِby righteous deeds.الصَّالِحَةِrighteous.وَنَحْوِهَاAnd similar to that.
It is named: For the promise of Paradise and mercy in the Hereafter, and safety from the punishment, it is conditional upon the name of absolute faith and restricted by righteous deeds, and similar to that.
وَهَذَاAnd thisكَمَاis asتَقَدَّمَpreviously explainedأَنَّthatالْمُطْلَقَthe absoluteيَدْخُلُincludesفِيهِwithin itفِعْلَdoingمَاwhatأَمَرَhas commandedاللَّهُAllahبِهِto Himوَرَسُولَهُand His messengerوَلَمand did notيُعَلِّقْattachبِاسْمِto the nameالإِسْلاَمِof Islam.فَلَوْIfكَانَit wasمِنْwhoeverأَتَىcomesمِنَfrom faithبِمَاwith whatيَقْدِرُhe canعَلَيْهِupon it.وَعَجَزَand is unableعَنْaboutمَعْرِفَةِknowingتَفَاصِيلِهِits details.فَقَدْHe isمُسْلِمًاa Muslim.لَاnotمُؤْمِنًاa believer.لَكَانَThen he would beمِنْamongأَهْلِthe people ofالْجَنَّةِParadise.وَكَانَتAnd the Paradiseتَسْتَحِقُّis dueمِنَto those whoيُسَمَّىare calledمُسْلِمًاMuslims.وَإِنْAnd ifلَمْdid notيُسَمَّcallمُؤْمِنًاa believer.وَلَيْسَAnd it is notالأَمْرُthe stateكَذَلِكَlike that.بَلْRather,الْجَنَّةُthe Paradiseلَمْdid notتَتَّصِلْattachإِلَّاuntilبِاسْمِthe nameالإِيمَانِof faith.
And this is as previously explained that the absolute includes doing what Allah and His messenger have commanded, and it is not attached to the name of Islam. If whoever comes with faith with what he can upon it, and is unable to know its details, he would be a Muslim and not a believer, then he would be among the people of Paradise and the Paradise is due to those who are called Muslims even if he is not called a believer, and it is not the case like that. Rather, the Paradise is not attached except to the name of faith.
وَهَذَاAnd thisأَيْضًاalsoمِمَّاis one of whatاسْتَدَلَّis proofبِهِby itمِنْofقَالَsayingإِنَّthat isلَيْسَnotكُلَّeveryمُسْلِمٍMuslimمِنَofالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersالْمَوْعُودِينَpromisedبِالْجَنَّةِwith Paradise.إِذْIfلَوْit wereكَانَthe caseالْأَمْرُthatكَذَلِكَlike that,لَكَانَthen it would beوَعَدٌthe promise of Paradiseمُعَلَّقًاattachedبِاسْمِto the nameالإِسْلَامِIslam.كَمَاasعُلِّقَتْattachedبِاسْمِto the nameالإِيمَانِof faith.وَكَمَاand asعُلِّقَتْattachedبِاسْمِto the nameالتُّقَىof piety.وَاسْمِand the nameالْبِرِّof righteousness.فِيinمِثْلِlikeقَوْلِهِHis sayingإِنَّIndeed,الْمُتَّقِينَthe righteousفِيinجَنَّاتٍthe gardensوَنَهَرٍand rivers.قَوْلُهُHis saying:إِنَّIndeed,الأَبْرَارَthe righteousلَفِيare surely inنَعِيمٍbliss.وَبِاسْمِAnd upon the nameأَوْلِيَاءِthe saintsاللَّهِof Allah.كَقَوْلِهِLike His saying:أَلَاIndeed,إِنَّthe verily.أَوْلِيَاءُfriends ofاللَّهِAllahلَاthere is noخَوْفٌfearعَلَيْهِمْupon them.وَلَاAnd norهُمْtheyيَحْزَنُونَwill grieve.
And this is also what is proof by those who said: that not every Muslim is among the believers promised with Paradise. If it were the case like that, the promise of Paradise would be attached to the name of Islam as it is attached to the name of faith, and as it is attached to the name of piety and the name of righteousness as in His saying: 'Indeed, the righteous are in gardens and rivers.' His saying: 'Indeed, the righteous are surely in bliss.' And upon the name of the saints of Allah, like His saying: 'Indeed, the friends of Allah, there is no fear upon them, nor will they grieve.'
