تَشْهَدُYou witnessأَنْthatلَاthere is noإِلٰهَgodإِلَّاexceptاللَّهَAllah
You witness that there is no god except Allah.
حَتَّىUntilيُقَالُit is saidلِلرَّجُلِto the manمَاwhatأَجْلَدَهُhe struck
Until it is said to the man what a blow he struck.
تُعْرَضُTrials are presentedالْفِتَنُthe tribulationsعَلَىtoالْقُلُوبِthe heartsكَالْحَصِيرِlike a mat
Trials are presented to the hearts like a mat.
حُجَّةٌAn argumentمَبْرُورَةٌthat is accepted
An accepted argument.
تَعِسَWretchedعَبْدٌis the servantالدِّينَارِof the dinar
Wretched is the servant of the dinar.
حَرَامٌForbiddenكُلُّeveryذِيpossessor ofنَابٍfangمِنَofالسِّبَاعِthe beasts
Every possessor of a fang from the beasts is forbidden.
تَعَوَّذُواSeek refugeباللَّهِin Allahمِنْfromخُشُوعِthe humility ofالنِّفَاقِhypocrisy
Seek refuge in Allah from the humility of hypocrisy.
الْحَلَالُThe lawfulمَاis whatأَحَلَّهُis made lawfulاللَّهُby AllahفِيinكِتَابِهِHis book
The lawful is what has been made lawful by Allah in His book.
تُقِرُّYou confessبِمَاto whatجَاءَhas comeمِنْfromعِندَwithاللَّهِAllah
You confess to what has come from Allah.
تِلْكَThat isصَلَاةٌthe prayerالْمُنَافِقِof the hypocrite
That is the prayer of the hypocrite.
تَوَلَّنِيTake meفِي مَنْamong those whomتَوَلَّيْتَyou have taken.
Take me among those whom you have taken.
التَّحِيَّاتُAll greetingsلِلَّهِare for Allahوَالصَّلَوَاتُand prayersوَالطَّيِّبَاتُand the good things
All greetings and prayers and good things are for Allah.
الْحَمْدُPraiseلِلَّهِbe to Allahالَّذِيwhoرَدَّreturnedكَيْدَهُhis plot
Praise be to Allah who returned his plot.
الْحَيَاءُModestyشُعْبَةٌis a branchمِنَofالْإِيمَانِfaith
Modesty is a branch of faith.
ثُمَّThenأَنْthatتَزْنِيyou commit adulteryبِحَلِيلَةِwith the wifeجَارِكَof your neighbor
Then that you commit adultery with the wife of your neighbor.
خَرَجْنَاWe went outمَعَwithالنَّبِيِّthe Prophetﷺ(peace be upon him)فِيinسَفَرٍa journey
We went out with the Prophet (peace be upon him) in a journey.
خُشُوعُHumilityالْبَدَنِof the bodyوَنِفَاقٌand hypocrisyالْقَلْبِof the heart
The humility of the body and the hypocrisy of the heart.
ثُمَّThenأَنْthatتَقْتُلَyou killوَلَدَكَyour childخَشْيَةَfor fearأَنْthatيَطْعَمَhe may eat
Then that you kill your child for fear he may eat.
دُعَاءُThe supplicationالْقُنُوتِof Qunoot
The supplication of Qunoot.
ثُمَّThenعَمَلَانِtwo deedsهُمَاthat areأَفْضَلُthe bestالْأَعْمَالِof deeds
Then two deeds that are the best of deeds.
ذَاقَHe tastedطَعْمَthe flavorالْإِيمَانِof faithمِنْwhoeverرَضِيَis pleasedباللَّهِwith Allahرَبًّاas a Lord
He tasted the flavor of faith who is pleased with Allah as a Lord.
ثَلاثٌThreeمِنْwhoeverكُنَّhasفِيهِin himاسْتَوْجَبَhe deservesالثَّوَابَthe reward
Three who have in them deserve the reward.
ذَاكَThatالْإِيمَانُis faith.
That is faith.
ثَلاثٌThreeمِنْwhoeverكُنَّhasفِيهِin himفَقَدْthen he hasاسْتَكْمَلَcompleted
Three who have in them have completed.
ذِكْرُكَMentioning youأَخَاكَyour brotherبِمَاwith whatيَكْرَهُhe hates
Mentioning your brother with what he hates.
ثَلاثٌThreeمِنْwhoeverكُنَّhasفِيهِin himفَهُوَhe isمُنَافِقٌa hypocrite
Three who have in them, he is a hypocrite.
الَّذِينَThose whoجَاهَدُواstruggledبِأَمْوَالِهِمْwith their wealthوَأَنْفُسِهِمْand their selves
Those who struggled with their wealth and their selves.
جَهْدٌEffortمُقَلٌّthe declarative formـ-أَيُّWhichالصَّدَقَةُcharityأَفْضَلُis better?
Which charity is better?
رَأَيْتُI sawكَأَنِّيas if Iأَنْزَعُwas pullingعَلَىonقَلِيبٍa well
I saw as if I was pulling on a well.
الرَّاحِمُونَThe mercifulيَرْحَمُهُمْwill be shown mercyالرَّحْمَنُby the Most Merciful
The merciful will be shown mercy by the Most Merciful.
جَوْفِIn the depthsاللَّيْلِof the nightالْغَابِرِthat has passed
In the depths of the night that has passed.
الْجَارُThe neighborأَحَقُّis more deservingبِسَقْبِهِof his wetness
The neighbor is more deserving of his wetness.
الْجِهَادُJihadأَنْis toتُجَاهِدَstruggleأَوْorتُقَاتِلَfightالْكُفَّارَthe disbelievers،,سَامٌSamأَبُوthe father ofالْعَرَبِthe Arabsوَيَافَثُand Japhethأَبُوthe father ofالرُّومِthe Romans
Jihad is to struggle or fight the disbelievers, Sam the father of the Arabs and Japheth the father of the Romans.
الْجِهَادُJihadـ-أَيُّwhichالْهِجْرَةُmigrationأَفْضَلُis better?
