لَعَنَcursedالنَّبِيِّthe Prophetﷺ(Peace be upon him)عَاصَرَwho drankالخَمْرَwine
The Prophet ﷺ cursed the one who drinks wine.
كَانَwasاللَّهُGodوَلَمْand notيَكُنbeشَيْءٌanythingقَبْلَهُbefore Him
God was, and there was nothing before Him.
كَانَwasالنَّبِيُّthe Prophetﷺ(Peace be upon him)وَأَصْحَابُهُand his companionsيَرْفَعُونَraisingلَقَدْIndeedحَكَمْتُI judgedفِيهِمin themبِحُكْمِwith the judgmentالْمَلِكِof the king
The Prophet ﷺ and his companions were raising, 'Indeed, I have judged in them with the judgment of the king.'
لَقَدْIndeedقُلْتُI saidبَعْدَكَafter youأَرْبَعَfourكَلِمَاتٍwords
Indeed, I said after you four words.
أَبْصَارُهُمْTheir sight
Their sight.
كَانَwasالنَّبِيُّthe Prophetيَوْمَon the dayبَدْرٍof Badrأَخْبَرَهُمْhe informed themبِمَصَارِعِof the places where they would fallلِكُلِّfor eachنَبِيٍّProphetدَعْوَةٍa supplicationمُسْتَجَابَةٍthat is accepted
On the day of Badr, the Prophet ﷺ informed them of the places where each Prophet would fall; each Prophet has a supplication that is accepted.
الْمُشْرِكِينَthe polytheists
The polytheists.
اللَّهُGodأَشَدُّis the mostفَرَحًاjoyfulبِتَوْبَةِwith the repentanceعَبْدِهِof His servant
God is the most joyful with the repentance of His servant.
كَانَwasجِبْرِيلُGabrielيَنْزِلُdescendingعَلَىuponالنَّبِيِّthe Prophetﷺ(Peace be upon him)بِالسُّنَّةِwith the Sunnah
Gabriel was descending upon the Prophet ﷺ with the Sunnah.
لَوْIfأَنْفَقَsomeone spendsأَحَدُكُمْone of youمِثْلَthe size ofأُحُدٍUhudذَهَبًاin gold
If any of you spent the size of Uhud in gold.
كَانَwasرَسُولُthe Messengerاللَّهِof Godيُعَلِّمُهُمْteaching themإِذَاwhenخَرَجُواthey went outإِلَىtoلَوْifخَشَعَhe humbledقَلْبُهُhis heartهَذَاthisلَخَشَعَتْthen his limbs would humble themselves.جَوَارِحُهُhis limbs
The Messenger of God was teaching them when they went out, 'If this one humbles his heart, then his limbs would humble themselves.'
الْمَقَابِرُthe graves
The graves.
كَانَwasرَسُولُthe Messengerاللَّهِof Godيَكْثُرُfrequentlyأَنْtoيَقُولَsayفِيinرُكُوعِهِhis bowing
The Messenger of God frequently used to say in his bowing.
لِيَذْهَبْto let goكُلُّeveryقَوْمٍpeopleإِلَىtoمَاwhatكَانُواthey usedيَعْبُدُونَto worship
To let every people go to what they were worshiping.
لَيْسَnotالْبِرَّthe righteousnessأَنْthatتُوَلُّواyou turnوُجُوهَكُمْyour faces
Righteousness is not that you turn your faces.
كَانَwasيَقُولُhe used to sayفِيinسُجُودِهِhis prostrationاللَّهُمَّO Allahلَكَto YouسَجَدْتُI have prostratedلَيْسَnotالْخَبَرُthe newsكَالمُّعَايَنَةِlike the witnessing.
He used to say in his prostration, 'O Allah, to You I have prostrated; the news is not like the witnessing.'
كَذَبَLiedزَيْدٌZaidرَسُولُthe Messengerاللَّهِof God
Zaid lied about the Messenger of God.
كَفَرَdisbelievedبِاللَّهِin Godمَنwhoتَبَرَّأَdisownsمِنْfromنَسَبٍhis lineage
Whoever disowns his lineage has disbelieved in God.
كُلُّEveryالنَّاسِpeopleيَغْدُوgoes outفَبَائِعٌso the sellerنَفْسَهُhimself
Every person goes out, so the seller is selling himself.
كُلُّEveryكَلَامٍspeechابْنِof the sonآدَمَof Adamعَلَيْهِupon himفَهُوَisعَلَيْهupon him
Every speech of the son of Adam is against him.
كُلُّEveryمُسْلِمٍMuslimعَلَىonمُسْلِمٍMuslimحَرَامٌis forbidden.
Every Muslim on another Muslim is forbidden.
لَيْسَnotالشَّديدُthe strongذَاis the oneالْصَّرْعَةُwho is loud.
The strong is not the one that is loud.
لَيْسَnotالْمُخْبِرُthe informerكَالمُّعَايِنِlike the observer.
The informer is not like the observer.
لَيْسَnotالْمَسْكِينُthe poorهَذَاthisالطَّوَافَdoing tawaf.
The poor is not the one who is doing tawaf.
لَيْسَnotبِتِلْكَin thatأَلَمdidتَسْمَعُواyou hearإِلَىtoقَوْلِthe sayingالْعَبْدِof the servantالصَّالِحِthe righteous.
In that did not you hear the saying of the righteous servant.
لَيْسَnotفِيinالْمَالِwealthحَقٌّa rightسِوَىother thanالزَّكَاةِthe obligatory charity.
There is no right in wealth other than the obligatory charity.
كَلِمَتَانِTwo wordsخَفِيفَتَانِare lightعَلَىonاللِّسَانِthe tongue
Two words are light on the tongue.
لَيْسَnotلِيfor meمِمَّاfrom whatأَفَاءَI have given
It is not for me from what I have given.
كَمَاAsيَجِبُis obligatoryأَنْtoتُؤْتَىbe givenعَزَائِمُهُhis wishes.
As it is obligatory to be given his wishes.
كَمَاAsيُكْرَهُit is dislikedأَنْtoتُؤْتَىbe givenمَعْصِيَتَهُhis disobedience.
As it is disliked to be given his disobedience.
كَيْفَHowتَجِدُونَdo you findفَرَحَهُhis joyبِهَذَاwith that?
How do you find his joy with that?
الْكِبْرُPrideبَطَرٌis to rejectالْحَقِّthe truth.
Pride is to reject the truth.
الْكِبْرُPrideسُفْهٌis follyالْحَقِّthe truthوَغَمْصٌand despiseالنَّاسِpeople.
Pride is folly of the truth and despising of people.
لِتَتَّبِعَنَّTo followكُلُّeveryأُمَّةٍnationمَاwhatكَانَتْthey wereتَعْبُدُworship.
Every nation will follow what they used to worship.
لَيْسَNotمِنْfromرَجُلٍa manادَّعَىwho claimsلِغَيْرِto other thanأَبِيهِhis father.
Not from a man who claims to other than his father.
لَيْسَNotوَرَاءَbeyondذَلِكَthatمِنْfromالإيمَانِfaithمِثْقَالٌthe weight.
There is not beyond that from the weight of faith.
مَاWhatابْتَدَعَinnovatedقَوْمٌa nationبِدْعَةًan innovation.
What innovation did people innovate?
مَاWhatالإِسلامُ؟is Islam?وَمَاand whatالإيمانُ؟is faith?
What is Islam? And what is faith?
مَاWhatالْخَمْسُthe fiveالَّتِيthatأَمَرْتُكُمْI commanded youأَنْtoتُؤْمِنُواbelieve in them.
What are the five that I commanded you to believe in?
لَتَدْخُلُنَّYou will surely enterالْمَسْجِدَthe mosqueالْحَرَامَthe Sacred MosqueإِنْifشَاءَHe willsاللَّهُGod.
You will surely enter the Sacred Mosque, if God wills.
مَاWhatالْخَمْسُthe fiveالَّتِيthatتُخْلَقْتُمyou were createdبِهَاby themفِيinالْجَاهِلِيَّةِthe time of ignorance.
What are the five that you were created by in the time of ignorance?
لِلزَّانِيَFor the one who commits adulteryالْحَجَرُthe stone.
For the one who commits adultery, the stone.
