Sheikh of Islam, Ibn Taymiyyah
هُوَHe isشَيْخٌSheikhالإِسْلامِof IslamتَقِيُّTaqiالدِّينِal-DinأَحْمَدُAhmadبِنْson ofعَبْدِAbdالحَلِيمِal-Halimبِنْson ofعَبْدِAbdالسَّلاَمِal-Salamبِنْson ofعَبْدِ اللّهِAbdullahابْنٌson ofالخَضِرِal-Khidrبِنْson ofمُحَمَّدٍMuhammadابْنٌson ofتَيْمِيَةَTaymiyyahالنَّمِيرِيِّthe Numayriالحَرَّانِيِّthe Harraniالدِّمَشْقِيِّthe Damascene
He is Sheikh of Islam, Taqi al-Din Ahmad ibn Abdul-Halim ibn Abdul-Salam ibn Abdullah ibn al-Khidr ibn Muhammad ibn Taymiyyah al-Numayri al-Harrani al-Damascene.
وَتَيْمِيَةُAnd Taymiyyahهِيَisالْوَالِدَةُthe mother ofجَدِّهِhis grandfatherالأَعْلَىthe highest(مُحَمَّد)(Muhammad)
And Taymiyyah is the mother of his highest grandfather (Muhammad).
وَكَانَتْAnd she wasوَاعِظَةًa preacher،, رَاوِيَةًa storyteller,, وَنَسَبُand lineageهَذاthisالْبَيْتُhouseالْكَرِيمُnobleإِلَيْهَاto her
And she was a preacher, a storyteller, and this noble lineage is attributed to her.
وُلِدَHe was bornفِيinحَرَّانَHarranمِنْfromأُمَّهَاتِthe mothers ofمُدُنِcitiesالْجَزِيرَةِthe islandبَيْنَbetweenدِجْلَةَthe Tigrisوَالْفُرَاتِand the Euphratesسَنةَin the year٦٦١هـ661 AH،, وَقَدَّمَand his father broughtبِهِhimوَالِدَهُhis fatherإِلَىtoدِمَشْقَDamascusمَعَwithأَسْرَتِهِمْtheir familyعِندَatوُصُولِthe arrivalجُيُوشِof the armiesالْمَغُولِthe Mongolsوَالتَّتَارِand the Tatars،, وَالِاسْتِيلاَءِand the seizureعَلَىonالكَثِيرِmuchمِنْofبِلَادِهِمْtheir lands،, فِيinالْهَجْمَةِthe attackالشَّرِسَةِfierceالْمَعْرُوفَةِknown.
He was born in Harran from the mothers of cities of the island between the Tigris and the Euphrates in the year 661 AH, and his father brought him to Damascus with their family at the arrival of the armies of the Mongols and the Tatars, and the seizure of much of their lands, in the known fierce attack.
وَكَانَAnd he wasعُمُرُهُhis ageأَيَّامَduringالهِجْرَةِthe migrationلَمْnotيَتَجَاوَزexceedالسَّنَوَاتِthe yearsالسِّتَّsix.
And he was his age during the migration not exceeding six years.
وَفِيAnd inدِمَشْقَDamascusأَخَذَhe tookالعِلْمَknowledgeعَنْfromرُجَالِهَاits menوَيَوْمَهَاand at that timeكَانَتْwasمَوْئِلًa sanctuaryالعِلْمِof knowledgeوَالْدِّينِand religion.
And in Damascus, he took knowledge from its men, and at that time it was a sanctuary of knowledge and religion.
وَقَدْAnd heأَفْتَىissued a fatwaوَلَمْand notيَبْلُغreachالْعِشْرِينَtwentyمِنْofعُمْرِهِhis age،, وَقَدْand he hasعَنِيtaken careبِالْقُرْآنِof the Quranوَالْحَدِيثِand the Hadithوَالْفِقْهِand jurisprudence
And he issued a fatwa without reaching twenty years of age, and he took care of the Quran, the Hadith, and jurisprudence.
وَكَانَAnd he wasحَامِيًاthe defenderالعَقِيدَةُof the creedالصَّحِيحَةِthe correctوَكِتَابُهُand his bookهَذَاthisالإِيمَانُFaithمِنْofأَعْظَمِهَاthe greatestوَأَنْفَعِهَاand most beneficial.
And he was the defender of the correct creed, and his book, this Faith, is one of the greatest and most beneficial.
وَكَانَAnd he wasمَشْهُورًاfamousبِالزُّهْدِfor asceticismوَالْوَرَعِand pietyوَالْعِبَادَةِand worshipمَعَwithالشَّجَاعَةِbraveryوَالفُرُسِيَّةِand chivalry.
And he was famous for asceticism, piety, and worship along with bravery and chivalry.
فَكَانَSo he wasالْمُدَافِعَthe defenderعَنْofالْبِلَادِthe landبِسَيْفِهِwith his sword،, كَمَاasكَانَhe wasالْمُحَامِيَthe advocateعَنْofعَقَائِدِthe creedsالأُمَّةِof the nationبِلِسَانِهِwith his tongueوَيَدِهِand hand.
So he was the defender of the land with his sword, just as he was the advocate for the creeds of the nation with his tongue and hand.
وَقَدْAnd heقَامَstood upبِالدِّفَاعِto defendعَنْofدِمَشْقَDamascusعِنْدَمَاwhenغَزَاهَاinvaded itالتَّتَارُthe Tatarsفِيinمَعْرَكَةِthe battleشَقْحَبٍof Shuqab--جُنُوبِيِّةِsouthernدِمَشْقَDamascus(۱)(1)
And he stood up to defend Damascus when the Tatars invaded it in the Battle of Shuqab - southern Damascus (1) -
وَكَتَبَand Allah wroteاللَّهُGodهزيمةَthe defeatالتَّتَارِof the Tatarsفِيْهَاin it،, وَبِهَذِهِand with thisالمَعْرَكَةِbattleسَلِمَتْwas savedبِلَادُthe landsالشَّامِof ash-Shamوَفِلَسْطِينِand Palestineوَمِصْرَand Egyptوَالْحِجَازِand al-Hijazمِنْfromغَزْوَتِهِمْtheir barbaric raidالْهَمَجِيَّةِthe savageالثَّانِيَةِsecond.
And Allah wrote the defeat of the Tatars in it, and with this battle, the lands of ash-Sham, and Palestine, and Egypt, and al-Hijaz were saved from their second savage raid.
