يَعْقِلُونَThey understand
They understand.
وَقَالَAnd saidتَعَالَىThe ExaltedوَلَئِنAnd ifسَأَلْتَهُمْYou ask themمِنْAboutخَلَقَWho createdالسَّمَاوَاتِThe heavensوَالْأَرْضَAnd the earthلَيَقُولُنَّThey will surely sayخَلَقَهُنَّHe created themالْعَزِيزُThe All-MightyالْعَلِيمُThe All-Knowing
And The Exalted said: "And if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will surely say, 'The All-Mighty, the All-Knowing created them.'"
الَّذِيWhoجَعَلَMadeلَكُمْFor youالأَرْضَThe earthمِهَادًاA bed
Who made for you the earth a bed.
وَجَعَلَAnd He madeلَكُمْFor youفِيهَاIn itسُبُلًاPathsلَعَلَّكُمْThat you mayتَهْتَدُونَBe guided.
And He made therein paths for you that you may be guided.
وَالَّذِيAnd WhoنَزَّلَSent downمِنَFromالسَّمَاءِThe skyمَاءًWaterبِقَدَرٍIn measure.
And Who sent down water from the sky in measure.
بِهَاBy itبَلْدَةًA townطَيِّبَةًGood.كَذَٰلِكَLikewiseتُخْرَجُونَYou will be brought out.
By it, a good town is set out; likewise, you will be brought out.
وَالَّذِيAnd WhoخَلَقَCreatedالْأَزْوَاجَThe pairsكُلَّهَاAll of them.وَجَعَلَAnd madeلَكُمْFor youمِنَOfالْفُلْكِThe shipsوَالْأَنْعَامِAnd the cattleمَاWhatتَرْكَبُونَYou ride.
And Who created the pairs all of them and made for you of the ships and the cattle what you ride.
لَاNotلِتَسْتَوُواSo that you may be settledعَلَىOnظُهُورِهَاTheir backs.ثُمَّThenتَذْكُرُواYou rememberنِعْمَةَThe favorرَبِّكُمْOf your Lord.إِذَاWhenاسْتَوَيْتُمْYou are settled on it.وَتَقُولُواAnd you sayسُبْحَانَGlory beالَّذِيTo WhoسَخَّرَSurrenderedلَنَاTo usهَذَاThisوَمَاAnd whatكُنَّاWe wereلَهُTo itمُقْرِنِينَAssociating.
Not to be settled on their backs and then you remember the favor of your Lord when you are settled on it, and you say, 'Glory be to Him who has subjected this to us, and we were not able to do it by ourselves!'
وَإِنَّاAnd indeed weإِلَىToرَبَّنَاOur LordلَمُنقَلِبُونَWill surely return.
And indeed we will surely return to our Lord.
فَانْشُرْنَاThen spread it.وَهَذِهِAnd thisالْصِّفَاتُAttributesمِنْOfكَلَامِThe speechاللَّهِAllahتَعَالَىThe ExaltedلَيْسَتْDo not belongمِنْToتَمَامِThe completeجَوَابِهِمْTheir answer.
Then spread it. And these attributes of the speech of Allah, the Exalted, do not belong to the complete answer of them.
وَقَالَAnd saidتَعَالَىThe ExaltedقُلْSayلِمَنTo whomالْأَرْضُThe earthوَمَنAnd whoفِيهَاIn itإِنIfكُنتُمْYou areتَعْلَمُونَKnowing.
And the Exalted said: "Say, 'To whom belongs the earth and whoever is in it, if you know?"
سَيَقُولُونَThey will sayلِلَّهِTo Allah.قُلْSayأَفَلَاThen do notتَذَكَّرُونَRemember!
They will say it belongs to Allah. Say, 'Then do you not remember?'
قُلْSayمَنْWhoرَبُّIs the Lord ofالسَّمَاوَاتِThe heavensالسَّبْعِSevenوَرَبُّAnd the Lord ofالْعَرْشِThe ThroneالْعَظِيمِThe Great!
Say, 'Who is the Lord of the seven heavens and the Lord of the great Throne?'
سَيَقُولُونَThey will sayلِلَّهِTo Allah.
They will say it belongs to Allah.
[المؤمنون][The Believers]
[The Believers].
وَقَالَAnd saidتَعَالَىThe ExaltedقُلْSayأَرَأَيْتُمْDid you seeإِنْIfأَتَكُمْYou are threatenedعَذَابُThe punishment ofاللَّهِAllahأَوْOrأَتَكُمْAre you awaitingالسَّاعَةَThe hour?أَغَيْرَIs there other thanاللَّهِAllahتَدْعُونَYou call on?إِنIfكُنتُمْYou areصَادِقِينَTruthful?
And the Exalted said: "Say, 'Did you see if the punishment of Allah comes upon you or the hour comes, is there other than Allah you call on, if you are truthful?'
بَلْButإِيَّاهُHim aloneتَدْعُونَYou call on.فَيَكْشِفُAnd He will removeمَاWhatتَدْعُونَYou call onإِلَيْهِTo HimإِنIfشَاءَHe wills.وَتَنسَوْنَAnd you forgetمَاWhatتُشْرِكُونَYou associate.
But Him alone you call on, and He will remove what you call on to Him if He wills. And you forget what you associate with Him.
﴾([الأنعام][The Cattle]وَكَذَٰلِكَAnd likewiseقَوْلُهُHis sayingاللَّهُAllahخَيْرٌIs betterمِمَّاThan whatيُشْرِكُونَThey associate.
And likewise, His saying: 'Allah is better than what they associate.'
أَمَنOr whoخَلَقَCreatedالسَّمَاوَاتِThe heavensوَالْأَرْضَAnd the earth.وَأَنزَلَAnd who sent downلَكُمْFor youمِنَFromالسَّمَاءِThe skyمَاءًWaterفَأَنْبَتْنَاSo We caused to growبِهِBy itحَدَائِقَGardens,ذَاتَOfبَهْجَةٍBeauty.
Or who created the heavens and the earth, and who sent down water from the sky, and by it We caused to grow beautiful gardens?
مَاWhatكَانَWasلَكُمْFor youأَنْToتُنْبِتُواGrow theirشَجَرَهَاTrees.أَوَلَهُIs there with Him?مَعَAlongsideاللَّهِAllah?بَلْButهُمْThey areقَوْمٌA peopleيَعْدِلُونَWho are unjust.
What was for you to grow their trees? Is there with Allah? But they are a people who are unjust.
أَمَّنOr whoجَعَلَMadeالأَرْضَThe earthمِرَاسًاA resting place.وَجَعَلَAnd madeخَلَّلَهَاIts riversأَنْهَارًاRivers.وَجَعَلَAnd madeلَهَاFor itsرَوَاسِيَMountains.وَجَعَلَAnd madeبَيْنَBetweenالْبَحْرَيْنِThe two seasحَاجِزًاA barrier.أوOrلَهُIs there to Him?مَعَWithاللَّهِAllah?
Or who made the earth a resting place and made rivers in it? And made mountains and made a barrier between the two seas? Is there with Allah?
﴾([النمل][The Ants]أَيْ:That is
[The Ants] That is.
أَإِلَهٌIs there a god?مَعَWithاللَّهِAllah?فَعَلَDid he do this?هَذَا؟!This?!وَهَذَاAnd thisاسْتِفْهَامٌIs a questionإِنْكَارٌOf denial,وَهُمْAnd theyمُقِرُّونَAffirmبِأَنَّهُThat there isلَمْNotيَفْعَلْDid.هَذَاThisإِلَٰهٌA godآخَرٌAnotherمَعَWithاللَّهِAllah.
Is there a god with Allah? Did He do this? And this is a question of denial, and they affirm that no other god did this with Allah.
وَمَنAnd whoeverقَالَSaidمِنَOfالْمُفَسِّرِينَThe interpreters.إِنَّIfالْمُرَادَThe intentionهَلIs there?مَعَAlongsideاللَّهِAllahإِلَٰهٌA godآخَرٌAnother?فَقَدْThen he is wrong,كَانُواThey wereيَجْعَلُونَMakingمَعَAlongsideاللَّهِAllahآلِهَةًGodsأُخْرَىAnother.كَمَاAsقَالَSaidتَعَالَىThe Exalted
And whoever said of the interpreters that the intention is, 'Is there another god alongside Allah?' then he is wrong. They were making gods alongside Allah, as said by The Exalted.
أَأَبْلَغَكُمْDid We not inform you?لَتَشْهَدُونَYou will surely witnessأَنَّThatمَعَAlongsideاللَّهِAllahوَآلِهَةًGodsأُخْرَىOther.قُلْSayلَاNoأَشْهَدُI bear witness.
Did We not inform you, 'You will surely witness that there are gods alongside Allah?' Say, 'No, I do not bear witness.

وَقَالَAnd saidتَعَالَىThe ExaltedفَمَاThen whatأَغْنَتْDid they availعَنْهُمْThemآلِهَتُهُمُTheir godsالَّتِيWhichيَدْعُونَThey call uponمِنْFromدُونِBesidesاللَّهِAllahمِنْFromشَيْءٍAnything.
And the Exalted said: "Then what avail did their gods, which they call upon besides Allah, to them?"

وَقَالَAnd saidتَعَالَىThe ExaltedعَنْهُمْAbout themأَجَعَلَDid He makeالرَّحْمَٰنَThe most mercifulإِلَٰهًاA godواحِدًاOne?إِنَّIndeedهَذَاThisلَشَيْءٌIs a thingعُجَابٌAmazing!
And the Exalted said about them: "Did He make the All-Merciful a god? This is indeed an amazing thing!"
[ص][Sad]
[Sad].
وَكَانُواAnd they wereمُقِرِّينَAffirmingبِأَنَّThatآلِهَتَهُمْTheir godsلَمDid notتَشْتَرِكَParticipateاللَّهَAllahفِيInخَلْقِCreatingالسَّمَاوَاتِThe heavensوَالْأَرْضَAnd the earth.وَلَاNorخَلَقَتْCreateشَيْئًا،Anything.بَلRatherكَانُواThey wereيَتَّخِذُونَهُمْTaking themشُفَعَاءَAs intercessors.
And they were affirming that their gods did not participate with Allah in creating the heavens and the earth and did not create anything. Rather, they were taking them as intercessors.
فَإِنَّهُمْSo they
