وَوَسَائِطٌ،and intermediaries,كَمَاasقَالَsaidتَعَالَى:The Exalted:﴿﴿وَيَعْبُدُونَand they worshipمِنَfromدُونِbesidesاللَّهِAllahمَاwhatلَاdoes notيَضُرُّهُمْharm themوَلَاand does notيَنفَعُهُمْbenefit themوَيَقُولُونَAnd they sayهَؤُلاءِTheseشُفَعَاؤُنَاare our intercessorsعِندَbeforeاللَّهِAllah﴾﴾يُونُسَYunus: :١٨18وَAndقَالَsaidعَنْaboutصَاحِبِthe ownerيَسَYaseen: :﴿﴿وَمَاAnd whatلِيَis for meلَاnotأَعْبُدُdo I worshipالَّذِيthe One whoفَطَرَنِيcreated meوَإِلَيْهِand to Himتُرْجَعُونَyou will be returnedلَأَتَّخِذَI will takeمِنْfromدُونِهِbesides Himوَآلِهَةًgodsإِنْifيُرِدْنِيthey intendالرَّحْمَـٰنُthe Most Mercifulبِضَرٍّwith harmلَاnotتُغْنِwill benefitعَنِّيmeشَفَاعَتُهُمْtheir intercessionشَيْئًاanythingوَلَاand notيُنقِذُونِيthey can save me﴾﴾بَسْBess.وَقَالَAnd He saidتَعَالَى:The Exalted:وَأَنذِرْAnd warnبِهِwith itالَّذِينَthose whoيَخَافُونَfearأَنْthatيُحْشَرُواthey will be gatheredإِلَىtoرَبِّهِمْtheir LordلَيْسَThere is notلَهُمْfor themمِّنْfromدُونِهِbesides Himوَلِيٌّa protectorوَلَاand notشَفِيعٌ)an intercessor)[الْأَنعَامِ:[Al-An'am:٥١51]]وَقَالَAnd He saidتَعَالَى:The Exalted:﴿﴿اللَّهُAllahالَّذِيwhoخَلَقَcreatedالسَّمَاوَاتِthe heavensوَandالْأَرْضَthe earthوَمَاand whatبَيْنَهُمَاis between themفِيinسِتَّةِsixأَيَّامٍdaysثُمَّthenاسْتَوَىestablished Himselfعَلَىuponالْعَرْشِthe ThroneمَاWhatلَكُمْis for youمِّنfromدُونِهِbesides Himمِنanyوَلِيٍّprotectorوَلَاand notشَفِيعٌintercessor.أَفَلَاWill you notتَتَذَكَّرُونَremember?﴾﴾[السَّجْدَةِ].[As-Sajda].وَقَالَ:And He said:قُلِSayادْعُواCall uponالَّذِينَthose whomزَعَمْتُمْyou claimمِّنْfromدُونِbesidesاللَّهِAllahلَاnotيَمْلِكُونَpossessمِثْقَالَthe weight ofذَرَّةٍan atomفِيinالسَّمَاوَاتِthe heavensوَلَاand notفِيinالْأَرْضِthe earth.وَمَاAnd whatلَهُمْis for themفِيهِمَاin themمِنْfromشِرْكٍany partnershipوَمَاand notلَهُfor Himمِنْهُمْof themمِّنْanyظَهِيرٍhelper.وَلَاAnd notتَنفَعُwill benefitالشَّفَاعَةُthe intercessionعِنْدَهُwith Himإِلَّاexceptلِمَنfor whomأَذِنَHe has permittedلَهُ﴾for him﴾[سَبَأٍ][Saba]فَنَفَىSo he negatedعَمَّfrom whatسِوَاهُis notكُلُّeverythingمَّاthatيَتَعَلَّقُrelatesبِهِto Himالْمُشْرِكُونَ،the polytheists.فَنَفَىHe deniedأَنْthatيَكُونَit isلِغَيْرِهِfor othersمُلْكَany dominionأَوْorقِسْطٍportionمِنْofالْمُلْكِ،the kingship,أَوْorيَكُونَit isعَوْنًاsupportلِلَّهِfor Allahوَلَمْand did notيَبْقَremainإِلَّاexceptالشَّفَاعَةُ،the intercession.فَبَيَّنَSo He clarifiedأَنَّهَاthat itلَاdoes notتَنْفَعُbenefitإِلَّاexceptلِمَنْfor whomأَذِنَHe has permittedلَهُfor himالرَّبُّ،the Lord,كَمَاasقَالَHe saidتَعَالَى:The Exalted:﴿مَنْ﴿Whoذَاis thatالَّذِيwhoيَشْفَعُintercedesعِندَهُwith Himإِلَّاexceptبِإِذْنِهِby His permission﴾.[البَقَرَةِ:[Al-Baqarah:٢٥٥255]]وَقَالَAnd He saidتَعَالَىThe Exalted::﴿وَلَا﴿And notيَشْفَعُونَthey will intercedeإِلَّاexceptلِمَنِfor whomارْتَضَى)He approves) [[الْأَنْبِيَاءِ[Al-Anbiya:: ٢٨28]]وَقَالَ:And He said:﴿﴿وَكَمْAnd how manyمِّنْofمَلَكٍangelsفِيinالسَّمَاوَاتِthe heavensلَاdo notتُغْنِيavailشَفَاعَتُهُمْtheir intercessionشَيْئًاanythingإِلَّاexceptمِنْafterبَعْدِafterأَنْthatيَأْذَنَHe letsاللَّهُAllahلِمَنْfor whomيَشَاءُHe willsوَيَرْضَىand is pleased.﴾﴾[النَّجْمِ).[An-Najm).فَهَذِهِSo thisالْشَّفَاعَةُintercessionالَّتِيthat whichيَظُنُّهَاthey believeالْمُشْرِكُونَthe polytheistsهِيَisمُنْتَفَاةٌnegatedيَوْمَon the Dayالْقِيَامَةِof Resurrectionكَمَاasنَفَاهَاit is deniedالْقُرْآنُ،in the Quran,وَأَمَّاand as forمَاwhatأَخْبَرَwas toldبِهِby Himالنَّبِيُّthe Prophetﷺ(peace be upon him)أَنَّهُthat heيَكُونُwill beفَأَخْبَرَHe informedأَنَّهُthat heيَأْتِيcomesفِيandسُجُودٍprostratesلِرَبِّهِto his Lord.وَيُحْمَدُهُand praises Himلَاdoes notيَبْدَأُbeginبِالشَّفَاعَةِwith intercessionأَوَّلًا،first,فَإِذَاwhen heسَجَدَprostratesوَحَمَدَand praisesرَبَّهُhis Lordبِمَحَامِدَwith praisesيَفْتَحُهَاHe opens for him.عَلَيْهِ،And it is said to him,يُقَالُit will be saidلَهُ:to him:«أَيُّ'Oمُحَمَّدَ!Muhammad!ارْفَعْLiftرَأْسَكَ،your head,وَاقُلْand sayتَسْمَعْ،you will hear,وَاسْأَلْand askتُعْطَyou shall be given,وَاشْفَعْand intercede.تُشَفَّعْ».You shall intercede.'فَيَقُولُ:So he says:«أَيُّ'Oرَبِّي،my Lordأُمَّتِي»،my nation,'فِيُحَدِّدُand He setsلَهُfor himحَدًّاa limit.فَيُدْخِلُهُمْAnd He will admit themالْجَنَّةَto Paradise.(١)(1)وَكَذَلِكَAnd likewiseفِيinالثَّانِيَةِ،the second,وَكَذَلِكَand likewiseفِيinالثَّالِثَةِ،the third.قَالَHe said.أَبُوAbuهُرَيْرَةَHurairaمَنْWhich ofأَسْعَدُthe happiestالنَّاسِof the peopleبِشَفَاعَتِكَwith your intercessionيَوْمَon the Dayالْقِيَامَةِ؟of Resurrection?قَالَ:He said:«مَنْ قَالَ'Whoever saysلَاthere is noإِلَهَGod,أَلَّاbut Allah,خَالِصًاwith sincerityقَلْبِهِ»in his heart.'(٢).(2).فَتِكَSo thatالْشَّفَاعَةُintercessionلِأَهْلِfor the people ofالإِخْلَاصِsincerityبِإِذْنِwith the permissionاللَّهِ،of Allah,إِلَّاexcept forاللَّهِAllah.
And intermediaries, as said The Exalted: "And they worship besides Allah that which does not harm them and does not benefit them, and they say: These are our intercessors before Allah" [Yunus: 18]. And He said about the owner of Yaseen: "And what is for me that I do not worship the One who created me, and to Him you will be returned? I will take from besides Him gods, if the Most Merciful intends with harm, they will not avail me anything or can save me" [Bas]. And The Exalted said: "And warn with it those who fear that they will be gathered to their Lord; there will not be for them besides Him any protector and not an intercessor" [Al-An'am: 51]. And The Exalted said: "Allah is the One who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days, then He established Himself on the Throne. What is for you besides Him any protector and not an intercessor? Will you not remember?" [As-Sajda]. And He said: "Say, Call upon those whom you claim besides Allah; they do not possess the weight of an atom in the heavens or in the earth; and what is for them in both of them from any partnership, and what is for Him of them in assistance? And the intercession will not benefit with Him except for whom He has permitted" [Saba]. Thus, He negated everything that the polytheists ascribed to Him, denying that there is any dominion or part of the dominion for others, nor any assistance for Allah, and there remains only intercession, and it was made clear that it does not benefit except for whom the Lord has permitted. As The Exalted said: "Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission" [Al-Baqarah: 255]. And He said about the angels: "And they do not intercede except for whom He has approved" [Al-Anbiya: 28]. And He said: "And how many angels are in the heavens who do not avail anything except after Allah has permitted for whom He wills and is pleased" [An-Najm]. So this intercession that the polytheists belief in is negated on the Day of Resurrection as it is denied in the Quran, and as for what the Prophet (peace be upon him) informed that will occur, he said that he will come and prostrate to his Lord and praise Him, not beginning with intercession first. When he prostrates and praises his Lord with praises that He opens for him, he will be told: "O Muhammad! Raise your head, say and you will hear, ask and you will be given, and intercede and you shall be interceded for." He will then say: "O my Lord, my nation!" And he (Allah) will set for him a limit, and He will admit them to Paradise (1). Likewise in the second, and likewise in the third. Abu Huraira said: Who amongst the people will be the happiest with your intercession on the Day of Resurrection? He said: "Whoever says there is no God but Allah sincerely in his heart" (2). So that intercession is for the people of sincerity with the permission of Allah, except Allah alone.
