فَذَٰلِكَSo thatمَاwhatتُجْزَوْنَyou are rewardedبِهِfor it
So that is what you are rewarded for.
فَبَيْنَIt is indicatedأَنَّthatالْمُؤْمِنَthe believerالَّذِيwhoإِذَاifتَابَhe repentsدَخَلَentersالْجَنَّةَparadise
It is indicated that the believer who repents enters paradise.
قَدmayيُجْزَىbe rewardedبِسَيِّئَاتِهِfor his sinsفِيinالدُّنْيَاthis worldبِالْمَصَائِبِwith the calamitiesالَّتِيthatتُصِيبُهُafflict him
He may be rewarded for his sins in this world with the calamities that afflict him.
كَمَاAsفِيinالصَّحِيحَيْنِthe two Sahihsعَنْهُabout himأَنَّهُthat he saidقَالَsaid
As in the two Sahihs about him that he said.
مَثَلُThe example ofالْمُؤْمِنِthe believerكَمَثَلِis likeالْخَامَةِthe cropمِنْofالزَّرْعِthe plantsتَفِيئُهَاshaded by itالرِّيَاحُthe windsتَقُومُهَاstraightens itتَارَةًat timesوَتَمِيلُهَاand tilts itأُخْرَىat other times
The example of the believer is like the crop of the plants shaded by the winds; it straightens it at times and tilts it at other times.
وَمَثَلُAnd the example ofالْمُنَافِقِthe hypocriteكَمَثَلِis likeشَجَرَةٍa treeالْأَرْزِof cedarلَاdoes notتَزَالُcease to beثَابِتَةًstanding firmعَلَىonأَصْلِهَاits rootحَتَّىuntilيَكُونَit becomesانْجِعَافَهَاits inclineمَرَّةًonceوَاحِدَةًone time.
And the example of the hypocrite is like a cedar tree that does not cease to be standing firm on its root until it becomes inclined only once.
وَفِيAnd in«الصَّحِيحَيْنِ»the two Sahihsعَنْهُabout himأَنَّهُthat he saidقَالَsaid
And in the two Sahihs about him that he said.
مَاWhatيُصِيبُafflictsالْمُؤْمِنَthe believerمِنْofوَصَبٍsicknessوَلَاnorنَصَبٍfatigueوَلَاnorهَمٍّgriefوَلَاnorحَزَنٍsorrowوَلَاnorغَمٍّdistressوَلَاnorأَذًىharmحَتَّىuntilالشَّوْكَةَthe thornيُشَاكُهَاis pricked by it
What afflicts the believer of sickness, nor fatigue, nor grief, nor sorrow, nor distress, nor harm; even the thorn he is pricked by.
إِلَّاexceptكَفَّرَAllah compensatesاللَّهُAllahبِهَاwith itمِنْfromخَطَايَاهُhis sins
Except Allah compensates with it for his sins.
وَفِيAnd inحَدِيثِthe narrationسَعْدِof SaadابْنِbinأَبِيAbuوَقَّاصٍWaqqasقُلْتُI saidيَاOرَسُولَMessengerاللَّهِof Allahأَيُّwhichالنَّاسِof the peopleأَشَدُّmost severeبَلَاءٍtrialقَالَHe said
And in the narration of Saad bin Abu Waqqas, I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Which people have the most severe trial? He said.
«الْأَنْبِيَاءُThe Prophetsثُمَّthenالصَّالِحُونَthe righteousثُمَّthenالأَمْثَلُthose who are more righteousفَالأَمْثَلُthen those who are even more righteousيُبْتَلَىare triedالرَّجُلُthe manعَلَىaccording toحَسَبِthe level ofدِينِهِhis religionفَإِنَّIfكَانَhe isفِيinدِينِهِhis religionصَلَابَةًstrongزِيدَhe will be increasedفِيinبَلَائِهِhis trialوَإِنْAnd ifكَانَhe isفِيinدِينِهِhis religionرِقَّةًweakخُفِّفَhe will be alleviatedعَنْهُfrom himوَلَاand there will not beيُزَالَcease to beالْبَلَاءُthe trialبِالْمُؤْمِنِof the believerحَتَّىuntilيَمْشِيَhe walksعَلَىonالْأَرْضِthe earthوَلَيْسَand is notعَلَيْهِon himخَطِيئَةٌa sin
"The Prophets, then the righteous, then those who are more righteous, and the man is tried according to the level of his religion. If he is strong in his religion, he will be increased in his trial, and if he is weak in his religion, he will be alleviated. And the trial will continue for the believer until he walks on the earth and has no sin on him."
رَوَاهُNarrated byأَحْمَدُAhmadوَالتُّرْمِذِيُّand Al-Tirmidhiوَغَيْرُهُمْand others.
Narrated by Ahmad, Al-Tirmidhi, and others.
وَقَالَAnd he saidالْمَرَضُthe illnessحَطَّةٌis an expiationيَحُطُّremovesالْخَطَايَاthe sinsعَنْfromصَاحِبِهِits ownerكَمَاjust asتَحُطُّremovesالشَّجَرَةُthe treeالْيَابِسَةُthe dryوَرَقَهَاits leaves
And he said, "The illness is an expiation; it removes sins from its owner, just as the dry tree removes its leaves."
وَالأَحَادِيثُAnd the hadithsفِيinهَذَاthisالْبَابِtopicكَثِيرَةٌare many.
And the hadiths in this subject are many.
فَمَنْSo whoeverسَلِمَis safeمِنْfromأَجْنَاسِthe typesالظُّلْمِof injusticeالثَّلاثَةِthe threeكَانَhe hasلَهُfor himالأَمْنُsecurityالتَّامُّcompleteوَالْاهْتِدَاءُand guidanceالتَّامُّcomplete.
So whoever is safe from the types of injustice, he has complete security and complete guidance.
وَمَنْAnd whoeverلَمْdid notيَسْلَمْbe safeمِنْfromظُلْمِthe injusticeنَفْسِهِof himselfكَانَhe hasلَهُfor himالأَمْنُsecurityوَالْاهْتِدَاءُand guidanceمُطْلَقًاunconditionally.
And whoever did not be safe from the injustice of himself has security and guidance unconditionally.
بِمَعْنَىmeaningأَنَّهُthat he mustلَا بُدَّinevitablyأَنْtoيَدْخُلَenterالْجَنَّةَparadiseكَمَاasوَعَدَpromisedبِذَٰلِكَwith thatفِيinالْآيَةِthe verseالأُخْرَىother
Meaning that he must enter paradise, as promised with that in the other verse.
وَقَدْAnd Heهَدَاهُguided himإِلَىtoالصِّرَاطِthe straight pathالمُسْتَقِيمِstraightالَّذِيwhichتَكُونَisعَاقِبَتُهُits endفِيهِin itإِلَىtoالْجَنَّةِparadiseوَيَحْصُلُand he obtainsلَهُfor himمِنْfromنَقْصٍthe deficiencyالأَمْنِin securityوَالْاعتِدَاءِand injusticeبِحَسَبِaccording toمَاwhatنُقِصَis reducedمِنْfromإِيمَانِهِhis faithبِظُلْمِهِby his injusticeنَفْسِهِto himself.
And He guided him to the straight path, which his end is to paradise, and he obtains for himself a deficiency in security and injustice according to what is reduced from his faith by his injustice to himself.
وَلَيْسَAnd notمُرَادًاintendedالنَّبِيُّthe Prophet ﷺ(peace be upon him)بِقَوْلِهِin his saying«إنَّمَاIndeedهُوَit isالشِّرْكُ»the polytheismأَنَّthatمَنْwhoeverلَمْdid notيَفْهَمْunderstood
And not intended by the Prophet (peace be upon him) in his saying, "Indeed, it is polytheism," that whoever did not understand.
