قَالَHe saidبَعْضُهُمْsome of them::كَانَwasأَبُونَاour fatherيَقُولُsayingأَخَافُI fear
Some of them said: Our father used to say, 'I fear
أَنْthatيَأْكُلَهُhe eats himالذِّئْبُthe wolf,,فَنَقُولُso we sayلَهُto him::
the wolf will eat him,' so we say to him:
صَدَقْتَYou have spoken the truthيَاOأَبَانَاour father!!قَدْIndeedأَكَلَهُhe has eaten himالذِّئْبُthe wolf..
'You have spoken the truth, our father! Indeed, the wolf has eaten him.'
وَافَقَAgreedالْإِخْوَةُthe brothersعَلَىuponذَلِكَthat,,وَقَالُواand they said::
The brothers agreed to that, and they said:
نَعَمْYesنَقُولُwe sayلَهُto him::يَاOأَبَانَاour fatherقَدْindeedأَكَلَهُhe has eaten himالذِّئْبُthe wolf..
'Yes, we say to him: O our father, the wolf has eaten him.'
قَالَSaidبَعْضُsomeالْإِخْوَانِof the brothersوَلَكِنْbutمَاwhatآيَةُis the signذَلِكَ؟of that?!!
Some of the brothers said, 'But what is the sign of that?'
قَالُواThey said::آيَةُThe signذَلِكَof thatالدَّمُis the blood..
They said: 'The sign of that is the blood.'
وَأَخَذَAnd tookالْإِخْوَةُthe brothersكَبْشًاa ramوَذَبَحُوهُand slaughtered him..
And the brothers took a ram and slaughtered it.
وَأَخَذُواAnd tookقَمِيصَshirtيُوسُفَof Josephوَصَبَغُوهُand dyed it..
And they took Joseph's shirt and dyed it.
وَفَرِحَAnd rejoicedالْإِخْوَةُthe brothersجِدًّاgreatly,,وَقَالُواand they said::الْآنَNowيُصَدِّقُwill believeأَبُونَاour father..
And the brothers rejoiced greatly, and they said: 'Now our father will believe.'
هـH--أَمَامَBeforeيَعْقُوبَJacob
H - Before Jacob
وَجَاءُواAnd they cameأَبَاهُمْto their fatherعَشَاءًin the eveningيَبْكُونَweepingقَالُواthey said
And they came to their father in the evening, weeping, they said
يَاOأَبَانَاour fatherإِنَّاindeed weذَهَبْنَاwentنَسْتَبِقُto raceوَتَرَكْنَاand leftيُوسُفَJosephعِنْدَbyمَتَاعِنَاour belongingsفَأَكَلَهُso he ate himالذِّئْبُthe wolf
'O our father, indeed we went to race and left Joseph by our belongings, so the wolf ate him.'
وَجَاءُواAnd they cameعَلَىwithقَمِيصِهِhis shirtبِدَمٍwith bloodكَذِبٍfalse
And they came with his shirt with false blood.
وَقَالُواAnd they said::هَذَاThisدَمُis bloodيُوسُفَof Joseph!!
And they said: 'This is the blood of Joseph!'
وَكَانَAnd wasأَبُوهُمْtheir fatherيَعْقُوبُJacobنَبِيًّاa prophet,,وَكَانَand he wasشَيْخًاan old manكَبِيرًاgreat..
And their father Jacob was a prophet, and he was an old man.
وَكَانَAnd wasأَعْقَلَmore intelligentمِنْthanأَوْلَادِهِhis children..
And he was more intelligent than his children.
وَكَانَAnd wasيَعْقُوبُJacobيَعْرِفُknowingأَنَّthatالذِّئْبَthe wolfإِذَاifأَكَلَhe eatsإِنْسَانًاa humanجَرَحَهُhe wounds himوَشَقَّand tearsقَمِيصَهُhis shirt,,
And Jacob knew that if a wolf ate a human, it would wound him and tear his shirt,
وَكَانَand wasقَمِيصُshirtيُوسُفَof Josephسَالِمًاintactوَكَانَand wasمَصْبُوغًاdyedفِيinالدَّمِthe blood..
and Joseph's shirt was intact and was dyed in the blood.
فَعَرَفَSo knewيَعْقُوبُJacob
So Jacob knew
