وَأَخْرَجَهَاAnd he pulled it outفَإِذَاand beholdفِيinالدَّلْوِthe bucketغُلَامٌa boy.
And he pulled it out and behold, in the bucket was a boy.
دُهِشَAmazedالرَّجُلُthe manوَنَادَىٰand he called out:﴿يَاOبُشْرَىٰgood tidings!هَٰذَاThisغُلَامٌ﴾is a boy.
The man was amazed and called out: "O good tidings! This is a boy."
وَفَرِحَAnd rejoicedالنَّاسُthe peopleجِدًّاgreatlyوَأَخْفَوْهُand they hid him.
And the people rejoiced greatly and they hid him.
وَوَصَلُواAnd they arrivedإِلَىٰtoمِصْرَEgyptوَقَامُواand they stoodفِيinالسُّوقِthe marketوَنَادَوْا:and called out:مَنْWhoيَشْتَرِيwill buyهَٰذَاthisالْغُلَامَ؟boy?
And they arrived in Egypt, and they stood in the market and called out: "Who will buy this boy?"
مَنْWhoيَشْتَرِيwill buyهَٰذَاthisالْغُلَامَ؟boy?
"Who will buy this boy?"
اشْتَرَىٰBoughtالْعَزِيزُAl-AzizيُوسُفَYusufبِدَرَاهِمَfor dirhamsمَعْدُودَةٍfew.
Al-Aziz bought Yusuf for a few dirhams.
وَبَاعَهُAnd sold himالتُّجَّارُthe merchantsوَمَاand notعَرَفُواthey knewيُوسُفَYusuf.
And the merchants sold him, and they did not know Yusuf.
وَذَهَبَAnd wentبِهِwith himالْعَزِيزُAl-Azizإِلَىٰtoقَصْرِهِhis palaceوَقَالَand he saidلِامْرَأَتِهِ:to his wife:أَكْرِمِيBe generousيُوسُفَto Yusufإِنَّهُindeed heوَلَدٌis a boyرَّشِيدٌwise.
And Al-Aziz took him to his palace and said to his wife: "Be generous to Yusuf; indeed he is a wise boy."
الْوَفَاءُLoyaltyوَالْأَمَانَةُand Trustworthiness
Loyalty and Trustworthiness
وَرَاوَدَتْAnd she temptedامْرَأَتُthe wifeالْعَزِيزِof Al-AzizيُوسُفَYusufعَلَىtoالْخِيَانَةِbetrayalوَلَٰكِنَّbutيُوسُفَYusufأَبَىٰrefusedوَقَالَ:and said:﴿كَلَّا!Never!أَنَاIلَاdo notأَخُونُbetrayسَيِّدِي,my master
And the wife of Al-Aziz tempted Yusuf to betrayal, but Yusuf refused, and said: "Never! I do not betray my master
إِنَّهُindeed heأَحْسَنَwas goodإِلَيَّto meوَأَكْرَمَنِي,and honored meإِنِّيindeed Iأَخَافُfearاللَّهَ.Allah.
indeed he was good to me and honored me. Indeed I fear Allah."
وَغَضِبَتْAnd became angryامْرَأَتُthe wifeالْعَزِيزِof Al-Azizوَشَكَتْand she complainedإِلَىٰtoزَوْجِهَاher husband.
And the wife of Al-Aziz became angry and complained to her husband.
وَعَرَفَAnd knewالْعَزِيزُAl-Azizأَنَّthatالْمَرْأَةَthe womanكَاذِبَةٌwas lyingوَعَرَفَand knewأَنَّthatيُوسُفَYusufأَمِينٌwas trustworthy.
And Al-Aziz knew that the woman was lying, and knew that Yusuf was trustworthy.
فَقَالَSo he saidلِزَوْجَتِهِto his wife﴿إِنَّكِIndeed youكُنْتِwereمِنَofالْخَاطِئِينَ﴾the sinners.
So he said to his wife: "Indeed you were of the sinners."
