مِنْFromكَنْعَانَCanaanإِلَىtoمِصْرَEgypt
From Canaan to Egypt
انْتَقَلَMovedيَعْقُوبُJacobإِلَىtoمِصْرَEgypt
Jacob moved to Egypt.
وَانْتَقَلَAnd movedمَعَهُwith himأَوْلَادُهُhis sons.
And his sons moved with him.
انْتَقَلُواThey movedإِلَىtoمِصْرَEgypt
They moved to Egypt
لِأَنَّbecauseيُوسُفَJosephبْنَthe son ofيَعْقُوبَJacobهُوَisسَيِّدُthe master ofمِصْرَEgypt
because Joseph, the son of Jacob, is the master of Egypt,
يَأْمُرُhe commandsوَيَنْهَىand forbids.
he commands and forbids.
وَكَانُواAnd they wereفِيinكَنْعَانَCanaan
And they were in Canaan
يَرْعَوْنَshepherdingالْغَنَمَthe sheep
shepherding the sheep
وَيَحْلُبُونَand milkingالشَّاةَthe goats
and milking the goats
وَيَبِيعُونَand sellingالصُّوفَthe wool.
and selling the wool.
وَعَبِيدُAnd the slaves ofيُوسُفَJosephوَخَدَمُهُand his servants
And Joseph's slaves and servants
يَأْكُلُونَeatوَيَنْعَمُونَand live in luxuryفِيinمِصْرَEgypt.
eat and live in luxury in Egypt.
فَمَاSo whatيَصْنَعُونَare they doingفِيinكَنْعَانَCanaan?
So what are they doing in Canaan?
وَلِمَاذَاAnd whyلَاnotيَذْهَبُونَdo they goإِلَىtoمِصْرَEgypt?
And why do they not go to Egypt?
أَرْسَلَSentيُوسُفُJosephإِلَىtoيَعْقُوبَJacobوَأَهْلِهِand his family
Joseph sent to Jacob and his family
وَطَلَبَهُمْand requested themمِنْfromكَنْعَانَCanaan.
and requested them from Canaan.
وَكَانَAnd wasيُوسُفُJosephلَاnotيَطِيبُpleased
And Joseph was not pleased
لَهُfor himطَعَامٌfoodوَلَاnorشَرَابٌdrink
with food or drink,
حَتَّىuntilيَرَىhe seesأَبَاهُhis fatherوَإِخْوَتَهُand his brothers.
until he sees his father and his brothers.
وَكَيْفَAnd howيَطِيبُcan be pleasedلَهُfor himطَعَامٌfoodوَشَرَابٌand drink?
And how can food and drink be pleasing to him?
وَكَيْفَAnd howيَطِيبُcan be pleasedلَهُfor himعَيْشٌlife
And how can life be pleasing to him
وَهُوَwhile he isوَحِيدٌaloneفِيinمِصْرَEgypt?
while he is alone in Egypt?
وَمَاذَاAnd whatيَصْنَعُis he to doبِالْقُصُورِwith the palaces
And what is he to do with the palaces
وَأَبُوهُwhile his fatherوَإِخْوَتُهُand his brothersفِيare inبَيْتٍa houseصَغِيرٍsmallفِيinكَنْعَانَCanaan?
while his father and brothers are in a small house in Canaan?
وَجَاءَAnd cameيَعْقُوبُJacobوَأَوْلَادُهُand his sonsإِلَىtoمِصْرَEgypt.
And Jacob and his sons came to Egypt.
فَاسْتَقْبَلَهُمْSo welcomed themيُوسُفُJosephوَفَرِحَand rejoicedبِهِمْwith themفَرَحًاa joyعَظِيمًاgreat.
So Joseph welcomed them and rejoiced with them a great joy.
وَاسْتَقْبَلَتْAnd welcomedمِصْرُEgyptأُسْرَةَthe familyسَيِّدِهَاof her masterوَأُسْرَةَand the familyمَلِكِهَاof her kingالْكَرِيمِnoble
And Egypt welcomed the family of her master and the family of her noble king,
وَفَرِحَتْand rejoicedبِهَاwith themفَرَحًاa joyعَظِيمًاgreat.
and rejoiced with them a great joy.
