وَAndتِلْكَthatنِعْمَةٌis a blessingتَمُنُّyou bestowهَاitعَلَيَّupon me,أَنْthatعَبَّدْتَyou enslavedبَنِيthe Children ofإِسْرَائِيلَIsrael.
And that is a blessing you bestow upon me, that you enslaved the Children of Israel.
٢١21وَاْلِدَعْوَةُ- The callإِلَىtoاللَّهِAllah.
21 - The call to Allah.
وَعَجَزَAnd was incapableفِرْعَوْنُPharaohوَلَمْand did notيَجِدْfindجَوَابًا،an answer,
And Pharaoh was incapable and did not find an answer,
فَأَرَادَso he wantedأَنْtoيَتَخَلَّصَrid himself.فَقَالَ:So he said:
so he wanted to rid himself. So he said:
وَمَاAnd whatرَبُّis the Lordالْعَالَمِينَof the worlds
And what is the Lord of the worlds
الَّذِيthatأَسْمَعُكَI hear youتَذْكُرُهُ؟mentioning?
that I hear you mentioning?
قَالَHe said,رَبُّ"Lordالسَّمَاوَاتِof the heavensوَالْأَرْضِand the earth
He said, "Lord of the heavens and the earth
وَمَاand whatبَيْنَهُمَا،is between them,إِنْifكُنْتُمْyou areمُوقِنِينَcertain."
and what is between them, if you are certain."

غَضِبَWas angeredفِرْعَوْنُPharaohمِنْbyهَذَاthisالْجَوَابِanswer
Pharaoh was angered by this answer
وَأَرَادَand he wantedأَنْtoيُغْضِبَangerأَهْلَthe people ofالْمَجْلِسِthe assembly
and he wanted to anger the people of the assembly
وَيَتَعَجَّبُوا،so they would be astonished,فَقَالَhe saidلِمَنْto thoseحَوْلَهُ:around him:أَلَا"Do you notتَسْتَمِعُونَ؟listen?"
so they would be astonished, he said to those around him: "Do you not listen?"
وَلَمْAnd did notيَقْطَعْinterruptمُوسَىMosesالْكَلَامَ،the speech,
And Moses did not interrupt the speech,
بَلْbut ratherضَرَبَstruckفِرْعَوْنُPharaohضَرْبَةًa blowثَانِيَةً:second:
but rather Pharaoh struck a second blow:
قَالَ:He said:رَبُّكُمْ"Your Lordوَرَبُّand the Lordآبَائِكُمُof your fathersالْأَوَّلِينَthe first."
He said: "Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers the first."
وَاشْتَدَّAnd intensifiedغَضَبُthe anger ofفِرْعَوْنَPharaohوَلَمْand he could notيَصْبِرْ،endure,فَقَالَ:and he said:
And Pharaoh's anger intensified and he could not endure, and he said:
إِنَّIndeedرَسُولَكُمُyour messengerالَّذِيthe one whoأُرْسِلَwas sentإِلَيْكُمْto youلَمَجْنُونٌis indeed mad.
Indeed, your messenger who was sent to you is indeed mad.
وَلَمْAnd did notيَقْطَعْinterruptمُوسَىMosesالْكَلَامَ،the speech,
And Moses did not interrupt the speech,
وَضَرَبَand struckفِرْعَوْنُPharaohضَرْبَةًa blowثَالِثَةً:third:
and Pharaoh struck a third blow:
قَالَ:He said:رَبُّ"Lordالْمَشْرِقِof the eastوَالْمَغْرِبِand the west
He said: "Lord of the east and the west
وَمَاand whatبَيْنَهُمَا،is between them,إِنْifكُنْتُمْyou areتَعْقِلُونَreasoning."
and what is between them, if you are reasoning."
وَأَرَادَAnd wantedفِرْعَوْنُPharaohأَنْtoيَشْغَلَdistractمُوسَىMosesعَنْfromهَذَاthisالْمَوْضُوعِtopicالْمُرِّ،bitter,
And Pharaoh wanted to distract Moses from this bitter topic,
وَأَرَادَand wantedفِرْعَوْنُPharaohأَنْtoيُثِيرَprovokeغَضَبَthe anger ofمَلَئِهِ.his assembly.
and Pharaoh wanted to provoke the anger of his assembly.
قَالَ:He said:فَمَا"Then whatبَالُis the stateالْقُرُونِof the generationsالْأُولَى؟the former?"
He said: "Then what is the state of the former generations?"
