الزِّينَةُThe adornmentهُوَisالْمِيعَادُthe appointment.

The adornment is the appointment.

وَقِيلَAnd it was saidلِلنَّاسِto the people,هَلْAreأَنْتُمْyouتَجْتَمِعُونَgathering

And it was said to the people, 'Are you gathering

لَعَلَّنَاso that we mayنَتَّبِعُfollowالسَّحَرَةَthe sorcerersإِنْifكَانُواthey areهُمُtheyالْغَالِبِينَthe vanquished.'

so that we may follow the sorcerers if they are the vanquished?'

إِلَىToالْمَيْدَانِthe field.

To the field.

وَتَرَىAnd you seeالنَّاسَthe peopleيَخْرُجُونَgoing outمِنْfromبُيُوتِهِمْtheir homesضُحًى!in the morning!

And you see the people going out from their homes in the morning!

وَيَمْشُونَAnd walkingإِلَىtoالْمَيْدَانِthe fieldأَفْوَاجًاin crowds.

And walking to the field in crowds.

وَيَمْشُونَAnd walkingإِلَىtoالْمَيْدَانِthe fieldأَطْفَالًا،children,وَشُبَّانًاand youths,وَشُيُوخًا،and old men,وَرِجَالًاand men,وَنِسَاءًand women.

And walking to the field are children, and youths, and old men, and men, and women.

وَلَمْAnd notيَبْقَremainedفِيinالْبَيْتِthe houseإِلَّاexceptمَرِيضٌa sick personأَوْorعَاجِزٌan incapable one.

And no one remained in the house except a sick person or an incapable one.

وَلَاAnd notتَسْمَعُyou hearفِيinالْمَطَرِيَّةِAl-Matariyaإِلَّاexceptحَدِيثَtalkالسِّحْرِof sorceryوَأَسْمَاءَand namesالسَّحَرَةِof the sorcerers.

And you hear in Al-Matariya nothing but talk of sorcery and the names of the sorcerers.

هَلْHasجَاءَcomeسَاحِرُthe sorcererأَسْوَانَof Aswanالْأَكْبَرُthe Greatأَيْضًا؟also?

Has the sorcerer of Aswan the Great also come?

نَعَمْ،Yes,وَسَاحِرُand the sorcererالْأُقْصُرِof Luxor,وَسَاحِرُand the sorcererالْجِيزَةِof Gizaالشَّهِيرُ!the famous!

Yes, and the sorcerer of Luxor, and the famous sorcerer of Giza!

مَاذَاWhatتَرَىdo you see,يَاOأَخِي،my brother,مَنْwhoيَغْلِبُ؟will win?

What do you see, O my brother, who will win?

إِنَّIndeedمِصْرَEgyptقَدْhasأَلْقَتْthrownأَفْلَاذَits dearestكَبِدِهَا،children,فَهَلْso canيَغْلِبُهُمْdefeat themأَحَدٌ!anyone!

Indeed, Egypt has thrown its dearest children; can anyone defeat them!

وَكَيْفَAnd howيَغْلِبُهُمْwill defeat themمُوسَىMosesوَأَخُوهُ؟and his brother?وَأَيْنَAnd whereتَعَلَّمَاdid they learnالسِّحْرَ؟sorcery?

And how will Moses and his brother defeat them? And where did they learn sorcery?

نَشَأَHe grew upفِيinقَصْرِthe palaceالْمَلِكِ،of the king,ثُمَّthenخَرَجَhe went outمِنْfromمِصْرَEgyptخَائِفًاfearful,يَتَرَقَّبُ،watching,وَكَانَand he wasفِيinمَدْيَنَMidianسِنِينَ.for years.

He grew up in the king's palace, then he went out from Egypt fearfully watching, and he was in Midian for years.
