بَلْRatherهُوَitغَلَبَovercameحَقٌّtruthأَمَامَbeforeبَاطِلٍfalsehood.

Rather, it is truth that overcame falsehood.

لَاMayقَدَّرَnot decreeاللَّهُAllahذَلِكَthat!

May Allah not decree that!

لَاMayسَمَحَnot allowاللَّهُAllahبِذَلِكَthat!

May Allah not allow that!

وَلَكِنَّButاللَّهَAllahشَجَّعَهُencouraged him,وَقَالَ:and said:لَاFearتَخَفْnot,إِنَّكَindeed youأَنْتَareالْأَعْلَىthe superior,وَأَلْقِand castمَاwhat isفِيinيَمِينِكَyour right hand;تَلْقَفْit will swallowمَاwhatصَنَعُواthey have fashioned.

But Allah encouraged him and said: 'Fear not, indeed you are the superior. And cast down what is in your right hand; it will swallow what they have fashioned.'

إِنَّمَاIndeedصَنَعُواthey have fashionedكَيْدُa trick ofسَاحِرٍa sorcerer,وَلَاand will notيُفْلِحُsucceedالسَّاحِرُthe sorcererحَيْثُwhereverأَتَىhe comes.

What they have fashioned is but the trick of a sorcerer, and the sorcerer will not succeed wherever he comes.

قَالَSaidمُوسَىMoses,مَاWhatجِئْتُمْyou have broughtبِهِisالسِّحْرُmagic;إِنَّindeedاللَّهَAllahسَيُبْطِلُهُwill expose it.

Moses said, 'What you have brought is magic; indeed, Allah will expose it.

إِنَّIndeedاللَّهَAllahلَاdoes notيُصْلِحُrectifyعَمَلَthe deeds ofالْمُفْسِدِينَthe corrupters.

Indeed, Allah does not rectify the deeds of the corrupters.

وَيُحِقُّAnd confirmsاللَّهُAllahالْحَقَّthe truthبِكَلِمَاتِهِby His words,وَلَوْeven ifكَرِهَdislike itالْمُجْرِمُونَthe criminals.

And Allah confirms the truth by His words, even if the criminals dislike it.

فَأَلْقَىSo castمُوسَىMosesعَصَاهُhis staff,فَإِذَاand behold,هِيَit wasتَلْقَفُswallowingمَاwhatيَأْفِكُونَthey were fabricating.

So Moses cast his staff, and behold, it began to swallow what they were fabricating.

فَوَقَعَSo came to passالْحَقُّthe truthوَبَطَلَand was voidمَاwhatكَانُواthey wereيَعْمَلُونَdoing.

So the truth came to pass, and what they were doing was void.

وَدُهِشَAnd were astonishedالسَّحَرَةُthe sorcerersوَبُهِتُواand bewildered.

And the sorcerers were astonished and bewildered.

مَاWhatهَذَا؟is this?إِنَّاWeنَعْرِفُknowالسِّحْرَmagicوَأَصْلَهُ،and its origin.

'What is this? We know magic and its origin,

وَإِنَّاAnd weنَعْرِفُknowالسِّحْرَmagicوَأَنْوَاعَهُ.and its types.

and we know magic and its types.

وَنَحْنُAnd weأَسَاتِذَةُare masters ofالْفَنِّ!the art!

We are masters of the art!

وَنَحْنُAnd weأَئِمَّةُare leaders ofالْفَنِّ!the art!

We are leaders of the art!

هَذَاThisلَيْسَis notمِنَfromالسِّحْرِ!magic!

This is not from magic!

هَذَاThisلَيْسَis notمِنَfromالسِّحْرِ!magic!

This is not from magic!

لَوْIfكَانَit wereمِنَfromالسِّحْرِmagic,لَضَرَبْنَاwe would have counteredالسِّحْرَmagicبِالسِّحْرِ،with magic,

If it were from magic, we would have countered magic with magic,

وَقَرَعْنَاand challengedالْفَنَّthe artبِالْفَنِّ.with the art.

and challenged the art with the art.

وَلَكِنِButاضْمَحَلَّvanishedفَنُّنَاour artأَمَامَbeforeهَذَاthis

But our art vanished before this

وَذَابَand meltedكَمَاlikeيَذُوبُmeltsالنَّدَىdewأَمَامَbeforeالشَّمْسِ.the sun.

and melted like dew melts before the sun.
