الْعَالَمُThe worldكُلُّهُentirelyظَلَامٌis darknessفِيinظَلَامٍdarkness
The entire world is darkness in darkness
إِلَّاexceptمَنْwhoeverأَشْرَقَshoneلَهُfor himنُورٌa lightمِنْfromرَبِّهِhis Lord.
except for whoever a light from his Lord has shone for him.
وَذَلِكَAnd thatالنُّورُlightهُوَisنُورُthe lightالْأَنْبِيَاءِof the prophets
And that light is the light of the prophets
الَّذِيwhichيَهْتَدِيguidesبِهِby itالنَّاسُpeople.
by which people are guided.
وَمَنْAnd whoeverلَمْdid notيَهْتَدِguide himselfبِهَذَاby thisالنُّورِlight
And whoever did not guide himself by this light
كَانَwasفِيinضَلَالٍmisguidanceيَخْبِطُstumblingخَبْطَstumblingعَشْوَاءَblindly.
was in misguidance, stumbling blindly.
فَالْعَقَائِدُSo the beliefsبِغَيْرِwithoutهَذَاthisالنُّورِlightأَوْهَامٌare illusionsوَخُرَافَاتٌand fables
So the beliefs without this light are illusions and fables
يَضْحَكُlaughمِنْهَاat themالْأَطْفَالُthe children.
at which children laugh.
أَمَاHave you notسَمِعْتُمْheardعَقَائِدَthe beliefsالْمُشْرِكِينَof the polytheistsوَالْكَفَّارِand the disbelievers
Have you not heard the beliefs of the polytheists and the disbelievers
وَالْيَهُودِand the Jewsوَالنَّصَارَىand the Christiansوَخُرَافَاتِهِمْand their fablesوَأَسَاطِيرِهِمْ؟!and their myths?!
and the Jews, and the Christians, and their fables and their myths?!
وَالْعِلْمُAnd knowledgeجَهْلٌis ignoranceوَظَنٌّand assumptionوَتَخْمِينٌand guessingوَشَكٌّand doubt.
And knowledge is ignorance, assumption, guessing, and doubt.
إِنْThey do notيَتَّبِعُوْنَfollowإِلَّاexceptالظَّنَّassumption
They do not follow except assumption
وَإِنَّand indeedالظَّنَّassumptionلَاdoes notيُغْنِيavailمِنَagainstالْحَقِّthe truthشَيْئًاanything.
and indeed assumption does not avail against the truth anything.
وَالْأَخْلَاقُAnd moralsتَفْرِيطٌare deficiencyوَإِفْرَاطٌand excessوَتَقْصِيرٌand falling shortوَإِسْرَافٌand extravagance.
And morals are deficiency, excess, falling short, and extravagance.
أَمَاHave you notرَأَيْتُمُseenالَّذِينَthose whoلَاdo notيَتَّبِعُونَfollowالْأَنْبِيَاءَthe prophets
Have you not seen those who do not follow the prophets
كَيْفَhowيَهْضِمُونَthey infringe uponالْحُقُوقَthe rights
how they infringe upon rights
وَكَيْفَand howيُجَاوِزُونَthey exceedالْحُدُودَthe limits
and how they exceed the limits
وَكَيْفَand howيَتَّبِعُونَthey followالْهَوَى؟!desire?!
and how they follow desire?!
وَالْحُكْمُAnd ruleوَالسِّيَاسَةُand politicsظُلْمٌare injusticeوَاسْتِبْدَادٌand tyrannyوَخَبْطٌand confusion
And rule and politics are injustice, tyranny, and confusion
فِيinأَمْوَالِthe wealthالنَّاسِof peopleوَحُقُوقِهِمْand their rightsوَدِمَائِهِمْand their blood.
in the wealth of people, their rights, and their blood.
أَمَاHave you notرَأَيْتُمُseenأُولِيthose inالْأَمْرِauthority
Have you not seen those in authority
––مِمَّنْfrom those whoلَاdo notيَخَافُونَfearاللَّهَAllahوَلَاnorيَتَّبِعُونَfollowالشَّرِيعَةَthe Sharia––
from those who do not fear Allah nor follow the Sharia
كَيْفَhowيَخُونُونَthey betrayالْأَمَانَاتِthe trusts
how they betray the trusts
وَكَيْفَand howيَعْبَثُونَthey tamper withبِأَمْوَالِthe wealthاللَّهِ،of Allah,
and how they tamper with the wealth of Allah,
وَكَيْفَand howيَعْبَثُونَthey tamper withبِدِمَاءِthe bloodالنَّاسِof peopleوَحُقُوقِهِمْ؟!and their rights?!
and how they tamper with the blood of people and their rights?!
