وَكَيْفَAnd howاسْتَعْبَدُواthey enslavedالنَّاسَthe peopleوَجَعَلُوهُمْand made themشِيَعًاsects
And how they enslaved the people and made them sects,
يَذْبَحُونَslaughteringرِجَالَهُمْtheir menوَيَسْتَحْيُونَand keeping aliveنِسَاءَهُمْtheir women.
slaughtering their men and keeping their women alive.
أَتَعْلَمُDo you knowكَمْhow manyقُتِلَwere killedفِيinالْحَرْبِthe warالْأُولَىthe first
Do you know how many were killed in the first war
وَكَمْand how manyقُتِلَwere killedفِيinالْحَرْبِthe warالثَّانِيَةِthe second!
and how many were killed in the second war!
فَالْعَالَمُSo the worldكُلُّهُall of itظَلَامٌis darknessفِيinظَلَامٍdarknessفِيinظَلَامٍdarkness
So the world is all darkness in darkness in darkness,
إِلَّاexceptمَنْhe for whomأَشْرَقَshoneلَهُfor himنُورٌa lightمِنْfromرَبِّهِhis Lord.
except for him for whom a light shone from his Lord.
ظُلُمَاتٍDarknessesبَعْضُهَاsome of themفَوْقَuponبَعْضٍothers
Darknesses, some of them upon others.
إِذَاWhenأَخْرَجَhe brings outيَدَهُhis handلَمْnotيَكَدْhe canيَرَهَاsee it.
When he brings out his hand, he can scarcely see it.
وَمَنْAnd whoeverلَّمْnotيَجْعَلِhas madeاللَّهُAllahلَهُfor himنُوْرًاa light
And whoever Allah has not made a light for him
فَمَاthen notلَهُfor himمِنْanyنُوْرٍlight.
then for him there is no light.
وَالنَّبِيُّAnd the Prophetيُعَلِّمُteachesالنَّاسَthe peopleكَيْفَhowيَعْبُدُونَthey worshipاللَّهَAllah
And the Prophet teaches the people how they worship Allah,
وَكَذَلِكَand likewiseيُعَلِّمُهُمْhe teaches themكَيْفَhowيُعَامِلُthey deal withبَعْضُهُمْeach otherبَعْضًاone another.
and likewise he teaches them how they deal with each other one another.
وَالنَّبِيُّAnd the Prophetيُعَلِّمُteachesالنَّاسَthe peopleآدَابَthe mannersالْحَيَاةِof lifeمَعَwithآدَابِthe mannersالدِّينِof religion
And the Prophet teaches the people the manners of life along with the manners of religion,
وَيُعَلِّمُهُمْand he teaches themآدَابَthe mannersالْأَكْلِof eatingوَآدَابَand the mannersالشُّرْبِof drinking
and he teaches them the manners of eating and the manners of drinking,
وَآدَابَand the mannersالنَّوْمِof sleepingوَآدَابَand the mannersالْمَجْلِسِof sittingوَآدَابَand the mannersكُلِّof everyشَيْءٍthing.
and the manners of sleeping and the manners of sitting and the manners of every thing.
وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُAnd he teaches themالْآدَابَthe mannersكَمَاasيُعَلِّمُteachesالْوَالِدُthe fatherالشَّفِيقُthe kindأَبْنَاءَهُhis childrenالْأَعِزَّةَthe dear ones.
And he teaches them the manners as the kind father teaches his dear children.
وَالنَّاسُAnd peopleكَالْأَطْفَالِare like childrenالصِّغَارِthe youngيَحْتَاجُونَthey needفِيinكِبَرِهِمْtheir old age
And people are like young children, they need in their old age
إِلَىtoتَرْبِيَةِthe upbringingالْأَنْبِيَاءِof the Prophetsأَكْثَرَmoreمِمَّاthan whatيَحْتَاجُونَthey needفِيinصِغَرِهِمْtheir youthإِلَىtoتَرْبِيَةِthe upbringingالْآبَاءِof fathers.
the upbringing of the Prophets more than they need in their youth the upbringing of fathers.
وَالَّذِينَAnd those whoلَمْnotيَتَلَقَّوْاreceivedهَذِهِthisالتَّرْبِيَةَupbringingالنَّبَوِيَّةَProphetic
And those who did not receive this Prophetic upbringing
وَلَمْand notيَتَعَلَّمُواthey learnedالْآدَابَthe mannersمِنَfromالْأَنْبِيَاءِthe Prophets
and did not learn the manners from the Prophets
كَأَشْجَارِare like treesالْبَرِّيَّةِof the wildernessنَبَتَتْthat grewوَنَشَأَتْand developedبِنَفْسِهَاby themselves
are like trees of the wilderness that grew and developed by themselves,
فَيُرَىso one seesفِيهَاin themعِوَجٌcrookednessوَشَوْكٌand thorns.
so one sees in them crookedness and thorns.
