بَدَاIt seemedأَنَّهُthat heلَاnoأَحَدَoneغَيْرَهُother than himيَشْغَلُis occupied withبَالَهُhis mind
It seems that no one other than him is occupied with his mind
هَلْwhetherسَيَفِرُّhe will fleeمِنْfromأَرْضِthe landالْمَعْرَكَةِof the battleأَمْorلَا.not.

until the anxiety exhausted him, so he fell into sleep.

A message from Wilson
حَلَّتْArrivedلَيْلَةٌa nightجَدِيدَةٌ،new,وَعَبَرَand crossedرَتَلَاtwo columns ofالْجُنُودِthe soldiersاثْنَيْنِtwoمِنَofالْكَبَارِي.the commanders.

They woke up in the early morning, and walked in a narrow path leading to the heart of the forest.
بَدَأَBeganالرِّجَالُthe menيَعُدُّونَcountingالْأَمْيَالَthe milesالَّتِيthatقَطَعُوهَا.they had traversed.
The men began counting the miles that they had traversed.
كَثِيرُونَManyمِنْهُمْof themأَلْقَوْاthrewحَقَائِبَهُمْtheir bagsبَعِيدًا،far away,
Many of them threw their bags far away,
وَبَعْدَand afterقَلِيلٍa littleأَصْبَحَbecameعَدَدٌa numberقَلِيلٌfewمِنْهُمْof themلَاnotيَحْمِلُcarryingسِوَىexceptالْمَلَابِسِthe clothesالضَّرُورِيَّةِnecessaryوَالْأَغْطِيَةِand the blanketsوَقِرَبِand the skinsالْمِيَاهِof waterوَالْبَنَادِقِand the gunsوَالذَّخِيرَةِ.and the ammunition.
and after a little a few of them became carrying nothing except the necessary clothes and the blankets and the skins of water and the guns and the ammunition.
قَالَSaidجِيمْJimلِهِنْرِي:to Henry:يُمْكِنُكَYou canالْآنَnowأَنْtoتَأْكُلَeatوَتُصَوِّبَ،and aim,هَذَاthisكُلُّallمَاwhatعَلَيْكَis upon youفِعْلُهُ.to do.

شَعَرَFeltهِنْرِيHenryبِالِارْتِبَاكِ،confusion,وَحَاوَلَand triedأَنْtoيُفَكِّرَthinkأَثْنَاءَduringرَكْضِهِhis runningمَعَwithرِفَاقِهِ،his mates,

so upon him to focus so that not he stumbles.
شَعَرَHe feltوَكَأَنَّهُand as if heيُدْفَعُis pushedإِلَىtoالْأَمَامِthe frontبِفِعْلِby act ofحَشْدٍa crowdمِنَofالرِّعَاعِ.the rabble.
He felt and as if he is pushed to the front by act of a crowd of the rabble.
انْضَمَّتْJoinedالْوَحَدَاتُthe unitsالْأُخْرَىotherإِلَىtoالْمَشْهَدِthe sceneشَيْئًاsomethingفَشَيْئًا،then something,
The units other joined to the scene something then something,
وَحِينَهَاand at thatعَلِمَknewهِنْرِيHenryأَنَّthatوَقْتَهُhis timeقَدْhasحَانَ؛come;إِنَّهُheعَلَىonوَشْكِthe vergeالِاخْتِبَارِ.of the test.
and at that knew Henry that his time has come; he on the verge of the test.
