And the Sheikh of Islam Ibn Taimiyyah and his student Ibn al-Qayyim related these sayings.

Accordingly, the mentioned texts would not negate the attribution of that message to the Sheikh of Islam, as will be clarified.

Secondly, Dr. al-Harbi said that even if the chain of transmission of the message regarding the annihilation of the fire to Ibn Taimiyyah were authentic, it would have caused his opponents to create a stir and they would have extracted statements from it to use as arguments against the Sheikh of Islam, and they would have shouted and not remained silent about obligating him with his statements, given the multitude of adversaries, ancient and modern.

And the answer is that what Dr. al-Harbi denied is what actually occurred. His opponents stirred the world against him during his era and after him. Al-Sabki, who was contemporary to the Sheikh, was attributed with that message and traced the Sheikh— as will come— and critiqued him concerning what he presented and went through what came within it, obligating him with obligations he is innocent of. The letter of al-Sabki titled "Consideration of the Everlasting Paradise and Fire" also came after him from opponents of the Sheikh, who patterned their arguments after him. Dr. al-Harbi brought examples of that in his message.

Thirdly, Dr. al-Harbi wavered in his position; once he says that what Ibn al-Qayyim mentioned in his book "The Guide of Souls" about his Sheikh is an error from him or that he returned from it.
