وَعَنْAnd on the authority ofعَائِشَةَAisha
And on the authority of Aisha
أُمِّthe mother ofالْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believers
the mother of the believers,
قَالَتْ:she said:
she said:
قَالَSaidرَسُولُthe Messenger ofاللَّهِAllah
The Messenger of Allah said
صَلَّىmay Allah invoke blessingsاللَّهُand peaceعَلَيْهِupon himوَسَلَّمَand grant him peace
may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him
فِيduringمَرَضِهِhis illness
during his illness
الَّذِيwhichلَمْhe did notيَقُمْriseمِنْهُ:from it:
from which he did not recover:
«لَعَنَ"May curseاللَّهُbe uponالْيَهُودَthe Jewsوَالنَّصَارَى؛and the Christians;
"May Allah curse the Jews and the Christians;
اتَّخَذُواthey tookقُبُورَthe graves ofأَنْبِيَائِهِمْtheir prophetsمَسَاجِدَ»as places of worship"
they took the graves of their prophets as places of worship."
قَالَتْ:She said:
She said:
وَلَوْلَاand had it not beenذَلِكَfor that
And had it not been for that,
لَأُبْرِزَhis grave would have been exposedقَبْرُهُ،his grave,
his grave would have been made prominent,
غَيْرَexceptأَنَّهُthat heخَشِيَfeared
except that he feared
أَنْthatيُتَّخَذَit would be takenمَسْجِدًا.as a place of worship.
that it would be taken as a place of worship.
أَخْرَجَهُIt was reported byالْبُخَارِيُّAl-Bukhari(١).(1).

وَعَنْهَاAnd on her authorityأَيْضًاalsoقَالَتْ:she said:
And on her authority also, she said:
لَمَّاWhenاشْتَكَىfell illرَسُولُthe Messenger ofاللَّهِAllahصَلَّىmay Allah invoke blessingsاللَّهُand peaceعَلَيْهِupon himوَسَلَّمَand grant him peace
When the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, fell ill,
ذَكَرَتْmentionedبَعْضُsome ofنِسَائِهِhis wives
some of his wives mentioned
كَنِيسَةًa churchرَأَتْهَاthey saw itبِأَرْضِin the land ofالْحَبَشَةِAbyssinia
a church they had seen in the land of Abyssinia
يُقَالُit is calledلَهَاfor itمَارِيَةُ،Maria,
called Maria.
وَكَانَتْAnd wereأُمُّUmسَلَمَةَSalamahوَأُمُّand UmحَبِيبَةَHabibahرَضِيَmay Allah be pleasedاللَّهُwithعَنْهُمَاthem both
And Um Salamah and Um Habibah, may Allah be pleased with them both,
أَتَتَاhad gone toأَرْضَthe land ofالْحَبَشَةِAbyssinia
had gone to the land of Abyssinia
فَذَكَرَتَاand they mentionedمِنْofحُسْنِهَاits beautyوَتَصَاوِيرَand pictures[فِيهَا][in it](٢)،(2),
and mentioned its beauty and the pictures in it (2).
فَرَفَعَSo he raisedرَأْسَهُhis head
So he raised his head
فَقَالَ:and said:
and said:
«أُولَئِكَ"Thoseإِذَاifمَاتَdiesفِيهِمُamong themالرَّجُلُthe righteousالصَّالِحُman
"Those are the people who, when a righteous man dies among them,
بَنَوْاthey buildعَلَىuponقَبْرِهِhis graveمَسْجِدًاa place of worship
they build upon his grave a place of worship
ثُمَّand thenصَوَّرُواthey portrayفِيهِin itتِلْكَthoseالصُّوَرَ،pictures,
and then they make those pictures in it.
أُولَئِكَThoseشِرَارُare the worst ofالْخَلْقِcreationيَوْمَon the Day ofالْقِيَامَةِ»Resurrection."
Those are the worst of creation on the Day of Resurrection."
أَخْرَجَاهُIt was reported by both of themفِيinالصَّحِيحَيْنِAl-Sahihayn(٣).(3).
Reported by both Al-Bukhari and Muslim in Al-Sahihayn (3).
