وَقَالَ:And he said:
And he said:
بَنِيO sonsأَسَدٍof Asadإِنْifتَمْحَلَyou become barrenالْعَامُthe yearفَقَعْسٌthen Qa'is......
O sons of Asad, if the year becomes barren, then Qa'is...
فَهَذَاthen thisإِذَاwhenدَهْرُthe timeالْكِلَابِof dogsوَعَامُهَاand their year.
Then this is when it is the time of dogs and their year.
وَقَالَAnd saidالْفَرَزْدَقُ:al-Farazdaq:
And al-Farazdaq said:
إِذَاifأَسَدِيٌّan Asadiجَاعَbecame hungryيَوْمًاone dayبِبَلْدَةٍin a town......
If an Asadi becomes hungry one day in a town...
وَكَانَand wasسَمِينًاfatكَلْبُهُhis dogفَهُوَthen heآكِلُهُis its eater.
And if his dog was fat, then he is its eater.
وَقَالَAnd saidشُرَيْحُShurayhبْنُibnأَوْسٍAwsوَهُوَwhile heيَهْجُوsatirizesأَبَاAbuالْمُهَوِّشِal-Muhawwishالْأَسَدِيِّ:al-Asadi:
And Shurayh ibn Aws said, while satirizing Abu al-Muhawwish al-Asadi:
عَيَّرْتَنَاYou reproached usتَمْرَthe datesالْعِرَاقِof Iraqوَبُرَّهُand its wheat......
You reproached us for the dates of Iraq and its wheat...
وَزَادُكَand your provisionأَيْرُis the penisالْكَلْبِof the dogحَسْحَسَةَthe stirringالْجَمْرِof embers.
And your provision is the penis of a dog, (like) the stirring of embers.
وَتَهَجَّىAnd they satirizedأَسَدٌAsadوَهُذَيْلٌand Hudhaylوَالْعَنْبَرُand al-Anbarوَبَاهِلَةُand Bahilaبِأَكْلِfor eatingلُحُومِthe fleshالنَّاسِ.of people.
And they satirized Asad, Hudhayl, al-Anbar, and Bahila for eating human flesh.
قَالَSaidالشَّاعِرُthe poetفِيaboutهُذَيْلٍ:Hudhayl:
The poet said about Hudhayl:
وَأَنْتُمْAnd youأَكَلْتُمْateسَحْفَةَthe skinابْنِof IbnمُحَدِّمٍMuhaddim......
And you ate the skin of Ibn Muhaddim...
زَمَانًاfor a timeفَلَاso notيَأْمَنُكُمْdoes he trust youأَحَدٌanyoneبَعْدُ1afterwards.
For a time, so no one trusts you afterwards.
تَدَاعَوْاThey calledلَهُfor himمِنْfromبَيْنِamongخَمْسٍfiveوَأَرْبَعٍand four......
They called for him from among five and four...
وَقَدْand indeedنَصَلَbecame detachedالْأَظْفَارُthe nailsوَانْسَبَأَand peeled offالْجِلْدُ2the skin.
And indeed the nails became detached and the skin peeled off.
وَرَفَعْتُمْAnd you raisedجِرْدَانَهُhis penisلِرَئِيسِكُمْto your chief......
And you raised his penis to your chief...
مُعَاوِيَةَMu'awiyaالْفَلْحَاءِthe wide-anusيَاOلَكَfor youمَاwhatشَكَدَ3he did.
O Mu'awiya of wide anus, what did he do!
وَقَالَAnd saidحَسَّانُHassanفِيهِمْ:about them:
And Hassan said about them:
إِنْIfسَرَّكَpleases youالْغَدْرُtreacheryصِرْفًاpureلَاwithoutمِزَاجَmixtureلَهُfor it......
If pure treachery pleases you, without any mixture in it...
فَائِتِthen comeالرَّجِيعِto ar-Raji'وَسَلْand askعَنْaboutدَارِthe houseلِحْيَانَ4of Lihyan.
Then come to ar-Raji' and ask about the house of Lihyan.
قَوْمٌA peopleتَوَاصَوْاadvised each otherبِأَكْلِto eatالْجَارِthe neighborبَيْنَهُمْamong themselves......
A people who advised each other to eat the neighbor among themselves...
فَالشَّاةُso the sheepوَالْكَلْبُand the dogوَالْإِنْسَانُand the humanسَيَّانِ5are equal.
So the sheep, the dog, and the human are equal.
وَهَجَاAnd satirizedشَاعِرٌa poetبِلَعْنَبَرِ6with al-'Anbar،،.,.
And a poet satirized with al-'Anbar...
