الْقَصَصُ

Stories

وَالْحَوَادِثُ

and events

مَوْجُودٌ

are present

فِي

in

السُّنَّةِ

the noble Sunnah

الْمُشَرَّفَةِ

- upon

Stories and events are present in the noble Sunnah

عَلَى

upon

صَاحِبِهَا

its owner

الصَّلَاةُ

be blessings

وَالسَّلَامُ

and peace

upon its owner be blessings and peace

فَلَا

therefore

يَنْبَغِي

it is not fitting

عِنْدَئِذٍ

at that time

مُعَالَجَةُ

to treat

النَّقْلِ

the transmission

وَالرِّوَايَةِ

and narration

عَنْ

from

أَهْلِ

the People

الْكِتَابِ

of the Book

so it is not fitting at that time to treat transmission and narration from the People of the Book

كَمِثْلِ

like

مَا

what

ثَبَتَ

is established

فِي

in

السُّنَّةِ

the authentic Sunnah

الصَّحِيحَةِ

authentic

عَنْ

regarding

قَوْلِهِ

His saying

تَعَالَى

the Most High

like what is established in the authentic Sunnah regarding His saying, the Most High

وَلَقَدْ
And indeed
فَتَنَّا
We tested
سُلَيْمَانَ
Solomon
وَأَلْقَيْنَا
and We cast
عَلَى
upon
كُرْسِيِّهِ
his throne
جَسَدًا
a body
ثُمَّ
then
أَنَابَ
he turned back in repentance

And We certainly tested Solomon and placed on his throne a body; then he returned [to God]

أَنَّ

that

ذَلِكَ

that

مَحْمُولٌ

is understood

عَلَى

as

تَرْكِ

leaving

سُلَيْمَانَ

Solomon

- عَلَيْهِ

- upon him

السَّلَامُ -

peace -

لِقَوْلِ

saying

"إِنْ

"If

شَاءَ

God

اللَّهُ"

wills"

that this is understood as Solomon - peace be upon him - omitting to say "If God wills"

وَأَنَّ

and that

الْمُؤَاخَذَةَ

the accountability

كَانَتْ

was

عَلَى

for

ذَلِكَ

that

and that the accountability was for that reason

فَكَيْفَ

so how

يَصِحُّ

is it correct

أَنْ

that

نَذْكُرَ

we mention

قِصَّةَ

the story

صَخْرٍ

of Sakhr

الْمَارِدِ

the rebellious devil

مِنَ

from

الرِّوَايَاتِ

the Israelite

الْإِسْرَائِيلِيَّةِ

narratives

so how is it correct that we mention the story of Sakhr the rebellious devil from the Israelite narratives?

٢

2

- وَالْأَمْرُ

- And the second

الثَّانِي

matter

هُوَ

is

أَنَّ

that

"الضَّرُورِيَّ

"that which is necessary

يَتَقَدَّرُ

is measured

بِقَدْرِ

by the measure

الضَّرُورَةِ"

of necessity"

2 - And the second matter is that "necessity is estimated according to its measure"

فَلَابُدَّ

so it is necessary

مِنْ

to

مُلَاحَظَتِهِ

observe it

so it is necessary to observe it

وَإِلْقَاءِ

and to cast

الْقَوْلِ

speech

حَسَبَ

according to

مُقْتَضَى

the requirement

التَّعْرِيضِ

of allusion

وَضَرُورَتِهِ

and its necessity

and to present speech according to the requirement of allusion and its necessity

حَتَّى

so that

يُمْكِنَ

it is possible

تَصْدِيقُهُ

to verify it

بِشَهَادَةِ

by the testimony

الْقُرْآنِ

of the Quran

الْكَرِيمِ

Noble

لَهُ

for it

so that its verification is possible by the testimony of the Noble Quran for it

وَالْكَفُّ

and to refrain

عَنِ

from

الزِّيَادَةِ

adding

عَلَيْهِ

to it

and to refrain from adding to it

[تَفْسِيرُ

[Exegesis of

الْقُرْآنِ

the Quran

بِالْقُرْآنِ:]

by the Quran:]

[Interpreting the Quran with the Quran:]

وَهُنَاكَ

And here

نُكْتَةٌ

is a subtle

دَقِيقَةٌ

point

لَابُدَّ

that must

مِنْ

be

مَعْرِفَتِهَا

known

And here is a subtle point that must be known

وَهِيَ

which is

أَنَّ

that

الْقُرْآنَ

the Quran

الْكَرِيمَ

Noble

أَحْيَانًا

sometimes

يَذْكُرُ

mentions

الْقِصَّةَ

the story

فِي

in

مَوْضِعٍ

one place

بِالْإِجْمَالِ

briefly

which is that the Noble Quran sometimes mentions the story briefly in one place

وَفِي

and in

مَوْضِعٍ

another place

آخَرَ

another

بِالتَّفْصِيلِ

in detail

كَقَوْلِهِ

like His saying

- تَعَالَى -:

- Most High -:

and in another place in detail, like His saying - the Most High -:

قَالَ
He said
إِنِّي
"Indeed, I
أَعْلَمُ
know
مَا
what
لَا
you do
تَعْلَمُونَ
not know."

"Indeed, I know that which you do not know."

ثُمَّ
Then
قَالَ:
He said:
أَلَمْ
"Did I not
أَقُلْ
say
لَكُمْ
to you
إِنِّي
that I
أَعْلَمُ
know
غَيْبَ
the unseen
السَّمَاوَاتِ
of the heavens
وَالْأَرْضِ
and the earth

Then He said: "Did I not say to you that I know the unseen of the heavens and the earth

وَأَعْلَمُ
and I know
مَا
what
تُبْدُونَ
you reveal
وَمَا
and what
كُنْتُمْ
you were
تَكْتُمُونَ
concealing?"

and I know what you reveal and what you used to conceal?"

فَهَذَا

So this

الْقَوْلُ

second statement

الثَّانِي

second

هُوَ

is

الْقَوْلُ

the statement

الْأَوَّلُ

first

نَفْسُهُ

itself

بِنَوْعٍ

with a kind

مِنَ

of

التَّفْصِيلِ

detail

So this second statement is the first statement itself with a type of detail

فَيَتَيَسَّرُ

thus it becomes easy

بِذَلِكَ

thereby

تَفْسِيرُ

to interpret

هَذَا

this

الْإِجْمَالِ،

brief part

وَالتَّقَدُّمُ

and to proceed

مِنْ

from

thus it becomes easy thereby to interpret this brief mention, and to proceed from
